Saccharomyces cerevisiae KNU5377 with Multiple Stress Tolerance and its Potential as a Worldwide On-site Industrial Strain for Alcohol Fermentation

  • Saccharomyces cerevisiae KNU5377 was examined to assay the recovering capacity against heat and other stressors. Along with a particular fermentation ability that is able to produce ethanol even at high temperature such as $40^{\circ}C$ with a comparable rate to the fermentation at $33^{\circ}C$, this strain also exhibited higher viability than a reference strain owing to its own thermotolerance that conferred the survival after the severe heat shock at $60^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. Furthermore, this strain showed outstanding tolerances against $H_2O_2$, ethanol and some chemical compounds. But, especially due to the thermotolerance, this strain has been suspected of other species of yeast. However, ITS (internally transcribed spacer) 1 and 2 sequencing data confirmed this strain was a typical strain of S. cerevisiae. The outstanding tolerances to various environmental stressors Indicate this S. cerevisiae KNU5377 is enough to use both as an on-site potential strain for world-wide alcohol fermentation industry and as a model strain for researches into the routes to acquire the tolerance to various stressors.

기내인터넷 이용자의 이용속성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Attitude toward In-flight Internet Usage)

  • 1990년대 하반기 이후 고유가와 지속적인 세계 경기침체에 이어 2000년대 초반 이후 9.11 테로와 이라크전을 거치면서 침체되었던 항공운송산업은 2004년 하반기부터 점차 회복세를 보이고 있다. 이에 따라 항공운송산업의 수요는 점차 증가하고 있으며, 항공사의 대고객서비스 투자 또한 더욱 더 증가하는 추세에 있다. 최근들어 전세계적으로 선두 그룹에 속해있는 몇몇 대형항공사들이 기내인터넷 상용화 서비스를 개시하였으며, 국내 항공사들도 글로벌 경쟁에서 뒤처지지 않기 위해 기내인터넷 서비스 제공을 개시하였다. 항공기내에서 인터넷이 상용화되기 시작하면서 기업입장에서 수익에 근거한 수요조사와 같은 연구가 진행되었으나 사용자 입장에서의 연구가 이루어지지 못하고 있다. 본 연구는 DEA와 컨조인트 분석을 결합한 모형을 이용하여 항공기에 새롭게 도입되는 기내인터넷 서비스에 대해 이용자가 중요하게 고려하는 속성과 그 선호도를 파악하였다. 기내인터넷 서비스에 대한 속성별 상대적 중요도를 추정한 결과 소비자들은 전송속도, 정보접근성, 컨텐츠 품질, 요금제 순으로 중요하게 고려하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 소비자들이 기내인터넷을 이용하고자 하는 속성을 추출하고, 각 속성의 중요도 및 속성수준의 부분가치, 최선의 대안을 탐색함으로써 기업이 기존에 설계하고 있는 기내인터넷의 전략적 접근 방안에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

파리시 도시지역계획의 지속가능한 개발 핵심전략으로서 '전통수복정책' 연구 (Study on the Policy for the Preservation of Tradition in Paris as a Major Element of Sustainable Development)

  • France is known to be making particular efforts to maintain its traditional urban architectural culture by diverse measures including the implementation of urban policies. However, France is facing up to the need to pursue modern urbanization in keeping with the requirements of the current times. Thus, this paper examines with what priority France is attempting to reflect in its current urban policies its determination to retain its urban architectural tradition and to recreate its capital city of Paris as a future European hub city. To that end, the paper first seeks to analyze Paris' policies for urban architecture from diachronic perspectives in a bid to determine Paris' urban architectural culture. Second, the study attempts to examine within the purview of the paradigm of contemporary urban architectural designs how Paris is pursuing the two conflicting purposes of the preservation of tradition and modern urbanization through the Paris Local Urbanization Plan (or Plan Local d'Urbanisme [PLU]). First, the findings indicate that Paris is applying the principle of a sustainable development plan in all fields of environment, economy and society. In terms of environmental sustainability, Paris is trying to improve the life quality of its citizens through the establishment of efficient mass transportation systems and the expansion of its green belt areas. In terms of social sustainability, Paris is implementing policies to ensure social diversity through housing policies. Also, in terms of economic sustainability, Paris is trying to expand employment and bolster its urban functions by conserving commercial activities and developing peripheral urban areas. Second, the findings indicate that Paris' policy of recovering its traditions takes priority over that of creating a sustainable city.

  • 국제상사중재는 <국제물품매매계약에 관한 유엔협약>을 적용하는 중요한 영역이고 본 협약이 국제 통일법적인 역할을 발휘하는데 중요한 지원을 제공하고 있습니다. 중국국제 경제무역중재위원회(CIETAC)는 협약을 가장 많이 적용하여 중재사건을 해결하는 중재위원회이다. 중재재판소는 체약국 법원과 마찬가지로 협약내용을 정확하게 이해하고 정확하게 적용함으로써 사건재판의 질을 제고하고 판결의 공신력을 강화한다. 하지만 중재재판소의 민간성과 독립성으로 인하여 재판소가 협약을 적용하는 법률기초는 소재국 국내 중재법, 중재절차 및 국제중재관례이고, 소재국이 협약을 이행함에 있어서의 국제조약의무가 아니다. 협약과 중국 계약법은 CIETAC 중재재판소가 주요하게 적용하는 법률이다. 중국 계약법 규정에는 협약 제75조, 76조의 내용에 해당하는 차액배상제도가 존재하지 않기 때문에, 판사와 중재재판소는 손해배상금을 확정함에 있어서 보다 많은 자유재량권을 가지므로 협약을 적용하는 것과 중국 계약법을 적용하는 것은 당사자에게 서로 다른 영향을 일으킨다.

H.264 인트라 프레임을 위한 저복잡도(低複雜度) 공간적 에러은닉 기법 (A Spatial Error Concealment Technique with Low Complexity for Intra-frame in the H.264 Standard)

  • H.264 표준은 공간영역에서의 인트라 예측, 루프필터 등과 같은 새로운 부호화 도구를 사용한다. 이러한 부호화 도구들의 사용으로 인해 H.264 비트스트림은 이전의 부호화 표준들과 비교하여 보다 많은 정보를 가지게 된다. 본 논문은 H.264의 인트라 프레임에서의 공간적 에러은닉 기법에 관한 것으로 H.264 비트스트림 내에 포함되어 있는 인트라블록의 예측모드 정보를 이용하여 손실된 블록을 공간적으로 복원한다. 인트라 블록의 예측모드 정보는 해당 블록내의 에지방향과 상당한 관련이 있기 때문에 인트라 프레임에서의 손실된 매크로블록을 복원하는 데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다. 제안하는 알고리듬은 먼저 주변의 예측모드정보를 사용하여 손실된 매크로블록의 에지방향을 예측하고, 손실된 블록을 에지영역과 평탄영역으로 구분한다. 이후 에지영역은 에지기반의 방향성 복원기법을 사용하여 복원하며, 평탄영역은 가중평균을 이용한 보간 기법을 사용하여 복원한다. 실험 결과 제안하는 알고리듬은 이전의 방법과 비교하여 적게는 0.35 dB 부터 많게는 5.48 dB까지의 화질 향상을 가져온다.

농업인의 건강과 식생활 관리 상태 - 건강관리실 설치 마을과 일반 마을의 비교 - (Health Management and Dietary Behavior of Farmers in Korea - Comparison of Conventional Village and The Village with Health Care Center -)

  • To investigate the status of farmers health management for health promotion, and for checking the effect of village health care center during 1 year, 746 subjects were selected with cluster method in 8 provinces of Korea. The most frequent group was 40th of age (39%) : elementary school graduates (32%) The self-conscious of health status tested with CMI (Cornell Medical Index) questionnaire, the subjects in the village of health care center had lower health status than those of conventional village. The farmers living in the village with health care center had longer agricultural work (p<0.05) and more frequency of spraying pesticides in the fields. The subjects of living the village of health care center were frequently exercise (34%) with health appliance use methods (30%), but the duration time of exercise was similar, Dietary habits and agricultural work condition were similar between two groups. For the fatigue recovery, steeping and bathing were most favorite methods, but exercise was lowest. It was significantly different between 2 groups the fatigue recovering methods, the subjects of village with health care center were more doing exercise (p<0.01), less sleeping (p<0.01) than those of conventional village. The working condition of self-estimated of farmers was not good, only 8.7% was thought pleasant condition. Of the various health factors, exercise, nutrition, and working situation would be more important. Considering on farmers exercise, it was very weak point for health management. The foundation and leading of the Farmers health care center was encouraged to farmers. For more effective operations, the experts education, easy and funny exercise program, and health promotion committee for administrators would be needed. The better systemic and continuous exercise programs should develop for associating livelihood. Funding for this project provided by the ministry of health and welfare of Korea.

Valorization of marble's waste as a substitute in sand concrete

  • The recovery of waste proves a solution with two impacts: the environmental impact by the reduction of pollution and the gain of the occupied space by this waste, and the economic impact by the use of these lasts in the building and in the area of public works. The present research consists in recovering a waste marble (thrown powder exposed to the different meteorological phenomena) generated by the quarry marble of Fil-fila, located at the east side of Skikda in the north-east of Algeria, and add it, as sand in the composition of sand concrete. To carry out this research, we analyzed the evolution brought by the substitution of ordinary sand by marble waste sand, with 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% on the properties in the fresh state (density, workability and air content) and in the cured state (compressive strength, tensile strength, surface hardness and sound velocity). For durability we tested water absorption by immersion and chloride penetration. The results obtained are compared with control samples of 0% of substitution rate. In order to have a good filling of the voids in the granular skeleton; we added a quantity of limestone recycled fines from the quarries and for a good workability a super-plasticizing additive. The results showed that the partial substitution modified both the fresh and the hardened characteristics of the tested concretes, the durability parameters also improved.

  • 낮은 온도와 높은 압력에서 저분자량의 가스가 물분자들에 의해 만들어지는 격자 속으로 포집되면서 형성되는 가스하이드레이트에 대한 존재가 알려진 것은 비교적 오래 되었으나, 물과 가스에 의해 형성되어 진다는 점에서 최근 관심이 증가되고 있다. 포집되는 가스의 종류에 따라 독특한 특성을 가지고 각각의 구조 결정을 형성하는 하이드레이트는 최근 지구 온난화가스인 이산화탄소 문제와 다양한 에너지원, 특히 천연가스와 수소 에너지에 대한 연구로 크게 주목받고 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 가스 하이드레이트 활용 분야 중에서 활발히 진행되고 있는 분야, 즉 대표적 지구온난화 가스인 이산화탄소의 심해저장과 동시에 메탄 하이드레이트 층으로부터의 천연 가스의 포집연구와 수소 저장량을 극대화시킨 수소하이드레이트에 관한 전반적인 연구동향을 소개하도록 한다.

tufA gene as molecular marker for freshwater Chlorophyceae

  • Green microalgae from the class Chlorophyceae represent a major biodiversity component of eukaryotic algae in continental water. Identification and classification of this group through morphology is a hard task, since it may present cryptic species and phenotypic plasticity. Despite the increasing use of molecular methods for identification of microorganisms, no single standard barcode marker is yet established for this important group of green microalgae. Some available studies present results with a limited number of chlorophycean genera or using markers that require many different primers for different groups within the class. Thus, we aimed to find a single marker easily amplified and with wide coverage within Chlorophyceae using only one pair of primers. Here, we tested the universality of primers for different genes (tufA, ITS, rbcL, and UCP4) in 22 strains, comprising 18 different species from different orders of Chlorophyceae. The ITS primers sequenced only 3 strains and the UCP primer failed to amplify any strain. We tested two pairs of primers for rbcL and the best pair provided sequences for 10 strains whereas the second one provided sequences for only 7 strains. The pair of primers for the tufA gene presented good results for Chlorophyceae, successfully sequencing 21 strains and recovering the expected phylogeny relationships within the class. Thus, the tufA marker stands out as a good choice to be used as molecular marker for the class.

  • Objective : This article is based on a formula taken from Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber(金匮要略). Shen Qi Pill(肾气丸) is generally used for such deficiency cases as: consumptive diseases, xiaoke(消渴) (waisting, thirst), beriberi, urinary problems during pregnancy, phlegm and so forth, and its main purpose is to treat Kidney Qi depletion, Qi transformation disorders, without obvious hot/cold appearance patterns. Method : Mainly through the literature study of related treatise on IInner Canon of the Yellow Emperor's internal classic(黃帝内经) and The Essential Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber. Result : According to the Yellow Emperor's internal classic, the Kidney has three main functions, storing essence, controlling the waters and holding Qi. Shen Qi Pill's(肾气丸) source formula is intended to supplement even though its constituent herbs aren't the warming type. To reinforce the Qi's transformation ability is considered to be a main function of the kidney organ, and in clinic, diagnosed kidney related problems and its treatment process are mainly associated with warming to help the Qi transforming. Conclusion : Thus recovering the kidneys Qi's transformation function is part of the process to eliminate diseases. Just cause the Kidney is deficient we shouldn't think immediately of using warming supplement herbs.
