  • Two penaeoid shrimps, Hadropenaeus lucasii (Bate, 1881) and Sicyonia truncata (Kubo, 1949), were collected from the northeastern waters of Jeju Island, Korea. These represent the only Korean reports of a member of the genus Hadropenaeus, family Solenoceridae and of a member of family Sicyonidae, respectively. Morphological descriptions and illustrations with a color photograph of each species are given. Korean Penaeoidea presently includes 27 species in three families.

  • This paper examines the significance of records as knowledge information resources that are illuminated by the electronic record environment nowadays based on existing research results and examples. As the production mode of records changes, it is possible to avoid the tendency to prioritize historical and cultural values when keeping records. In addition, according to the change of the operating mode and the work pattern of an organization, the value of knowledge information resource is also important. For this purpose, this paper reviews the recent changes in the work environment in Chapter 2 and then examines attributes not only as evidence but also as information. Based on these discussions, the paper explores the relationship between the records and the information that has been discussed in western academic circles since the 1980s in Chapter 3. With this, it also analyzes the correlation between record management and knowledge management. In Chapter 4, it reviews recent trends to link records management and knowledge management in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In addition to the current state of public records management in Korea, this paper presents the direction of institutional improvement in three aspects.

  • Two specimens (332.0~377.6 mm in standard length) of Benthodesmus tenuis (G$\ddot{u}$nther), belonging to the family Trichiuridae, firstly collected in off Heuksan-do and Yeosu, Jeollanam-do by the bottom trawl. This species was characterized by the following morphological traits: 125~126 dorsal fin rays (vs. 144~155 for B. pacificus), I, 73 anal fin rays (vs. 91~101), interorbital region flat (vs. interorbital region with prominent crest for A. anzac), opercular black and caudal fin forked. We propose a new Korean name, "Se-jang-gal-chi-sok" and "Se-jang-gal-chi" for the genus and species, respectively.

  • This is the first report of Aulotrachichthys prosthemius (Jordan and Fowler), belonging to the family Trachichthyidae, collected in Korea. One specimens (74.8 mm in standard length) were caught in the coastal waters of Jeju Island by using the bottom trawl. This species was characterized by the following morphological traits: V, 13 dorsal fins; III, 9 anal fins; the striated area along the ventral side of the body reaches to the tip of last anal rays and the post-temporal spine is sharp, pointed and with serrated edge. We propose a new Korean name, "Eeun-jool-geum-nun-dom-sok" and "Eeun-jool-geum-nun-dom" for the genus and species, respectively.

  • This research discusses how to improve the current environment for record management in relation to the Revision of the Law of Record Management in South Korea. Three major issues are: 1) Legal status of the National Archives & Records Service of Korea as the government institution in charge of managing centrally records, 2) System for the education and training of professionals who specialize in record management, and 3) Foundation of the national museum and archives of records. Findings are as follows: First, the existing 'National Office of Records' as the government institution in charge of managing records, should be promoted to the 'National Archives & Records Service of Korea' in order to be administered by the class of a vice-minister in the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs. Second, the qualification criteria which currently requires the Master's degree of Record Management, should be modified to include the Bachelor's degree in the field in order to expand the pool of professional human resources. Also, to hire the public officials for record management, either the positions of 'researcher/record manager group' should be created, or the existing positions of librarian, archivist, and record manager should be integrated into the new position of 'record culture group'. Third, the most significant task for the office of record management of local governments is to inherit and further develop the traditional culture and documentary legacy which are unique to those local communities and governments at various levels, and a priority should be given to those tasks. Therefore, when the Law of Record Management will be later revised, the establishment of the office of record management for local governments at every level should be required, and the museum and archives of records should be also established as a significant part of the institution. Unique local culture and history of particular communities should be collected and preserved in systematically specialized and differentiated ways in those institutions of record management, and the names should be uniquely given to the institutions according to the characteristics of local governments.

  • This is the first report of Japonolaeops dentatus Amaoka, belonging to the family Bothidae, collected in Korea. Four specimens (152.9~174.7 mm in standard length) were caught in the coastal waters of Jeju Island by using the bottom trawl. This species was characterized by the following morphological traits: 115~120 dorsal fin rays, 96~98 anal fin rays, 105~106 pores in lateral line, upper jaw extending to below anterior margin of lower eye, and teeth presenting on both ocular and blind sides of the jaw. • In Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water) has seen four problems rising in four aspects of property management of approximately 1,300 buildings scattered through put to country. To solve these, ground data for repair and replacement works to be conducted for prevention will be prepared and building maintenance system (hereinafter referred to as PBMS) intended to record related repair and replacement work histories and calculate LCC of the related these items will be developed. PBMS, a web-based system, will be developed for users' convenience and data monitoring in real time. To sum up, PBMS are expected to maximize efficiency in four aspects including the establishment of repair and replacement work plans for prevention, history management, DB for predicting future work to be occurred and enable the determination of priorities by being developing into facility condition assessment systems through the results of analysis of repair and replacement histories and LCC.
