  • Recently, based on the human speech recognition (HSR) model of Fletcher, the multi-band speech recognition has been intensively studied by many researchers. As a new automatic speech recognition (ASR) technique, the multi-band speech recognition splits the frequency domain into several sub-bands and recognizes each sub-band independently. The likelihood scores of sub-bands are weighted according to reliabilities of sub-bands and re-combined to make a final decision. This approach is known to be robust under noisy environments. When the noise is stationary a sub-band SNR can be estimated using the noise information in non-speech interval. However, if the noise is non-stationary it is not feasible to obtain the sub-band SNR. This paper proposes the inverse sub-band distance (ISD) weighting, where a distance of each sub-band is calculated by a stochastic matching of input feature vectors and hidden Markov models. The inverse distance is used as a sub-band weight. Experiments on 1500∼1800㎐ band-limited white noise and classical guitar sound revealed that the proposed method could represent the sub-band reliability effectively and improve the performance under both stationary and non-stationary band-limited noise environments.

  • 1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Contitutions. Now We are developing 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus to analyse the facial characteristics. This apparatus show us 3D image of man's face and measure facial figure. We should examine accuracy of position recognition in 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA). 2. Methods We took a photograph of Face status with Land Mark by using 3D-AFRA. And We scanned Face status by using laser scanner(vivid 700). We analysed error average of distance between Facial Definition Points. We compare the average between using 3D-AFRA and using laser scanner. So We examined the accuracy of position recognition in 3D-AFRA at indirectly. 3. Results and Conclusions The error average of distance between Right Pupil and The Other Facial Definition Points is 0.5140mm and the error average of distance between Left Pupil and The Other Facial Definition Points is 0.5949mm in frontal image of face. The error average of distance between Left Pupil and The Other Facial Definition Points is 0.5308mm and the error average of distance between Left Tragion and The Other Facial Definition Points is 0.6529mm in laterall image of face. In conclusion, We assessed that accuracy of position recognition in 3D-AFRA is considerably good.

  • The recognition rate of RFID system is made a big difference by the selection of tag type and performance of reader, packing materials and the attachment location of tag and the recognition of angle according to the above factors. Water content is the most effective factor among the various elements that affected to the recognition of RFID as the center. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to measure the RFID recognition rate per water content, the distance recognition rate of RFID tag, the RFID tag and the recognition rate by contact area. In analysis of recognition rate according to water content, 100% of recognition was possible when food product contained 0~25% moisture. However, when water content was over than 30%, recognition rate was declined less than 95%. The recognition rate between RFID tag according to water content was higher when distance was over than 0.3 cm. In the recognition rate about the contact area of RFID tag according to water content, the recognition rate was declined when the contact area becomes wider.

  • This paper describes an approach for extracting invariant features using a view-based representation and recognizing an object with a high speed search method in FLIR. In this paper, we use a reformulated eigenspace technique based on robust estimation for extracting features which are robust for outlier such as noise and clutter. After extracting feature, we recognize an object using a partial distance search method for calculating Euclidean distance. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves the improvement of recognition rate compared with standard PCA.

  • In this paper, a method for designing an optimal weight function for the weighted cepstral distance measure is proposed. A conventional weight function or cepstral lifter is obtained eperimentally depending on the spectral components to be emphasized. The proposed method minimizes the error between word reference patterns and the traning data. To compare the proposed optimal weight function with conventional function, speech recognition systems based on Dpynamic Time Warping and Hidden Markov Models were constructed to conduct speaker independent isolated word necogination eperiment. Results show that the proposed method gives better performance than conventional weight functions.

  • Due to the wide application of face recognition (FR) in information security, surveillance, access control and others, it has received significantly increased attention from both the academic and industrial communities during the past several decades. However, partial face occlusion is one of the most challenging problems in face recognition issue. In this paper, a novel method based on linear regression-based classification (LRC) algorithm is proposed to address this problem. After all images are downsampled and divided into several blocks, we exploit the evaluator of each block to determine the clear blocks of the test face image by using linear regression technique. Then, the remained uncontaminated blocks are utilized to partial occluded face recognition issue. Furthermore, an improved Distance-based Evidence Fusion approach is proposed to decide in favor of the class with average value of corresponding minimum distance. Since this occlusion removing process uses a simple linear regression approach, the completely computational cost approximately equals to LRC and much lower than sparse representation-based classification (SRC) and extended-SRC (eSRC). Based on the experimental results on both AR face database and extended Yale B face database, it demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method on issue of partial occluded face recognition and the performance is satisfactory. Through the comparison with the conventional methods (eigenface+NN, fisherfaces+NN) and the state-of-the-art methods (LRC, SRC and eSRC), the proposed method shows better performance and robustness.

  • We propose an efficient robot name registration and recognition method in order to enable a Call-and-Come service for home robots. In the proposed method for the name registration, the search space is first restricted by using monophone-based acoustic models. Second, the registration of robot names is completed by using triphone-based acoustic models in the restricted search space. Next, the parameter for the utterance verification is calculated to reduce the acceptance rate of false calls. In addition, acoustic models are adapted by using a distance speech database to improve the performance of distance speech recognition, Moreover, the location of a user is estimated by using a microphone array. The experimental result on the registration and recognition of robot names shows that the word accuracy of speech recognition is 98.3%.

  • This paper proposes a new method which improves recognition rate on the gait recognition system using wavelet transform, linear discriminant analysis and genetic algorithm. We use wavelet transform to obtain the four sub-bands from the gait energy image. In order to extract feature data from sub-bands, we use linear discriminant analysis. Distance values between training data and four sub-band data are calculated and four weights which are calculated by genetic algorithm is assigned at each sub-band distance. Based on a new fusion distance value, we conducted recognition experiments using k-nearest neighbors algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed weight fusion method has higher recognition rate than conventional method.
