  • In this study by using EMAT(electro magnetic acoustic transducer)the artificial slit is installed on 12B-SUS pipe test piece. By making 4 cycle SH-burst (EMA) incidence to 45 .deg. angle, the signal data of pulse, received from EMAT are translated into digital-signal-processing- method SSP(Split Spectrum Processing) and Deconvolution method. The main conclusions obtained are as follows; (1) the signal data received from EMAT are translated with digital signal proc- essing of SSP-method and Deconvolution-method and this method shows exellent results more than Ultrasonic testing method does; (2) noise can well be removed by SSP with signal data, and resolution and S/N ratio are advanced; (3) when used with Ultrasonic wave general stainless steel has proporties of multiscattering and reflection phenomena, but resolution is progressed by using Deconvolution method;and (4) as addition-averaging-processing mumber is increasing, the resolution and S/N ratio are improved and the satisfactory signal is obtained.

  • In the non-destructive evaluation techniques using ultrasonic signal, backscattering noise from grain interface decreases the SNR of received signal. In this paper, SSP(split-spectrum processing) based on the constant FBR decomposition method has been applied to enhance the SNR. This algorithm helps to find optimal parameters of filter bank through a simple theory and has an advantage that reduce the signal processing time compared with the conventional constant bandwidth decomposition method. In this experiment, the 304 stainless steel sample is heat-treated and received ultrasonic signal is processed by SSP using the constand bandwidth decomposition method and the constand FBR decomposition method enhanced the SNR by 1.4 dB and reduced the required number of filters by 4 compared with the constant bandwidth decomposition method.

  • This paper analyzes the detection probability of FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar based on Doppler frequency and analog-digital converter bit and designs and implements signal processing part of FMCW radar. For performance evaluation, the FMCW radar system consists of a transmitted part and a received part and uses AWGN channel. The system model is verified through analysis and simulation. Frequency offset occurs in the received part caused by the mismatching between the received signal and the reference signal. In case of Doppler frequency less than about 38KHz, performance degradation of detection does not occur in FMCW radar with 75cm resolution The analog-digital converter needs at least 6 bit in order not to degrade the detection probability. And, we design and implement digital signal processing part based on DDS chip of digital transmitted signal generator for FMCW radar.

  • The present paper proposes a method that can estimate a roll rate of spinning vehicles utilizing GPS receivers. The proposed method analyzes a relation between received signal and correlation value and utilizes a phenomenon that received signal power that changes according to a signal incident direction affects a correlation value. That is, a roll-rate estimation method using zero crossing detection method for correlation value, which has sinusoidal periodicity according to rotations of vehicles, is proposed. A correlation value in real environments experiences a jitter so that the proposed method includes a pre-processing filter and detection threshold setting way is also considered to reduce the effect of received signal power. In order to verify the operation of the proposed method and analyze the performance, a signal generator and software-defined receiver (SDR) are designed. The signal generator generates intermediate frequency (IF) signal by taking the rotation of vehicles, antenna gain, and signal power into consideration, and a correlation value is acquired by taking the generated IF signals into consideration. Using the generated correlation value, the operation of the proposed roll rate estimation method is verified and the performance is analyzed.

  • The Snoop in the BS (Base Station) performs a local retransmission over wired-wireless networks to recover packet loss quickly. However, when the MH (Mobile Host) leaves the reception range of the signal, the local retransmission causes performance to degrade. In this paper, we minimize the packet loss and local retransmission caused by the unreachability from BS to MH to improve network performance. To do this, we suggest to add RSS(Received Signal Strengths) flag bit in ACK packet of MH. By using this flag bit, the BS decides whether it retransmits or not to minimize packet loss. The result of the simulation by ns-2 shows a big improvement of performance in the networks.

  • Conventional radar antenna systems are susceptible to performance degradation caused by unwanted signals received via the antenna sidelobes and/or mainlobes. Adaptive array systems offer possible solution to this interference problem by automatically steering nulls to unwanted signals providing significant system performance improvement. Another important andvantage of the adaptive array is its self-optimization capability which uses the collective incoming noise data for the nulling purposes. This paper provides a tutorial introduction to adaptive arrays as well as some new development of recent research in this area. Optimum link between the antenna theory and signal processing has been sought by illustrating the gain patterns and output signal-to-noise ratio. Signal acqusition methods are shown including a new attempt of the use of spread-spectrum techniques in conjuction with array systems.

  • In this paper, Electronic Drum based on Arduino and Processing language to communicate with a computer is implemented. First, we made a drum pad by using piezoelectric sensors. The drum pads prevent damage to the sensor and new mechanism was fabricated to mitigate the impact structure. Arduino connected to the pad, the sensor detects a signal when the shock sends it to Arduino. The received signal of Arduino sends a signal to the computer, and the signal received is stored in the computer to output sound of the drum. Through this structure, the micro-controller, the computer and communications technology can be combined and applicable to a many system.

  • It is very important to meet the maximum detection range in a radar system. In order to meet the maximum detection Range, the sensitivity of the received signal of the radar system must be high. In addition, the dynamic range should be wide in the radar signal processing board. To meet these requirements, the signal processing board must be designed to be robust against external and internal noise. In particular, a design is required to minimize the effect of noise generated by various switching circuits inside the board on the received radar signal. In this paper, we derive the requirements of the signal processor board to meet the radar system performance and describe the design to meet the derived requirements. In addition, the EMC design to minimize the influence of noise input from the outside or generated from the inside is described. Confirm the secured performance through the test of the manufactured board.
