The load impedance of power lines generally varies with time, areas, and season. Also, the harmonic noises by the power electrical equipments are scattered through the power lines. The received signal level varies with the environment and is not able to detect the PLC(Power Line Carrier) signal. For this reason, it is requried for the signal transmitter to hold the received signal level uniform independently with the variation of the load impedence. In this paper, the power lines are modeled simply and a method keeping the received signal level uniform is suggested through the analysis of the signal transmission characteritics of the PLC coupler using tank circuit.

The present paper proposes a method that can estimate a roll rate of spinning vehicles utilizing GPS receivers. The proposed method analyzes a relation between received signal and correlation value and utilizes a phenomenon that received signal power that changes according to a signal incident direction affects a correlation value. That is, a roll-rate estimation method using zero crossing detection method for correlation value, which has sinusoidal periodicity according to rotations of vehicles, is proposed. A correlation value in real environments experiences a jitter so that the proposed method includes a pre-processing filter and detection threshold setting way is also considered to reduce the effect of received signal power. In order to verify the operation of the proposed method and analyze the performance, a signal generator and software-defined receiver (SDR) are designed. The signal generator generates intermediate frequency (IF) signal by taking the rotation of vehicles, antenna gain, and signal power into consideration, and a correlation value is acquired by taking the generated IF signals into consideration. Using the generated correlation value, the operation of the proposed roll rate estimation method is verified and the performance is analyzed.
Co-channel interference between macro-femtocell networks is an unresolved problem, due to the frequency reuse phenomenon. To mitigate such interference, a secondary femtocell must acquire channel-state knowledge about a co-channel macrocell user and accordingly condition the maximum transmit power of femtocell user. This paper proposes a pilot-based spectrum sensing (PSS) algorithm for overlaid femtocell networks to sense the presence of a macrocell user over a channel of interest. The PSS algorithm senses the pilot tones in the received signal through the power level and the correlation metric comparisons between the received signal and the local reference pilots. On ensuring the existence of a co-channel macrocell user, the maximum transmit power of the corresponding femtocell user is optimized so as to avoid interference. Time and frequency offsets are carefully handled in our proposal. Simulation results show that the PSS algorithm outperforms existing sensing techniques, even at poor received signal quality. It requires less sensing time and provides better detection probability over existing techniques.
Wireless power transmission (WPT) for wireless charging is currently attracting much attention as a promising approach to miniaturize batteries and increase the maximum total range of an electric vehicle. The main advantage of the laser power beam (LPB) approach is its high power transmission efficiency (PTE) over long distance. In this paper, we present the design of a laser power beam based WPT system, which has a best WPT channel selection technique at the receiver end when multiple power transmitters and single power receiver are operated simultaneously. The transmitters send their transmission channel information via optically modulated laser pulses. The receiver uses the received signal strength indicator and digitized data to choose an optimum power transmission path. We modeled a vertical multi-junction photovoltaic cell array, and conducted an experiment and simulation to test the feasibility of this system. From the experimental result, the standard deviation between the mathematical model and the measured values of normalized energy distribution is 0.0052. The error between the mathematical model and measured values are acceptable, thus the validity of the model is verified.

The present paper shows that beamforming algorithm such as Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) based on array antenna signal processing can have not only anti-jamming but also anti-spoofing characteristics. A beam pattern due to the beamforming algorithm strengthens received signal power as it is formed in the incident direction of desired signal. During the process, the effect of unnecessary signals such as spoofing signals can be reduced because the beam pattern reduces received signal power in the incident directions excluding the beam pattern-directed direction. In order to analyze the anti-spoofing effect due to the beamforming algorithm, a software-based simulation environment was configured. An arbitrary error was applied between incident direction of Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signal and steering vector direction of the beamforming algorithm to analyze the received signal power and required conditions were provided to see the anti-spoofing effect due to the beamforming algorithm. The used antenna was 7-element planar circular array and beam patterns were formed through the MVDR algorithm.

Many spoofing detection studies have been conducted to cope with the most difficult types of deception among various disturbances of GPS, such as jamming, spoofing, and meaconing. In this paper, we propose a spoofing detection scheme based on elevation masked-relative received power between GPS L1 and L2 signals in a system using a multi-band array antenna. The proposed scheme focuses on enabling spoofing to be normally detected and minimizes the possibility of false detection in an environment where false alarms may occur due to pattern distortion among elements of an array antenna. The pattern distortion weakens the GPS signal strength at low elevation. It becomes confusing to detect a spoofing signal based on the relative power difference between GPS L1 and L2, especially when GPS L2 has weak signal strength. We propose design parameters for the relative power threshold including beamforming gain, the minimum received power difference between L1 and L2, and the patch antenna gain difference between L1 and L2. In addition, in order to eliminate the weak signal strength of GPS L2 in the spoofing detection process, we propose a rotation matrix that sets the elevation mask based on platform coordinates. Array antennas generally do not have high usefulness in commercial areas where receivers are operated alone, but are considered essential in military areas where GPS receivers are used together with signal processing for beamforming in the direction of GPS satellites. Through laboratory and live sky tests using the device under test, the proposed scheme with an elevation mask detects spoofing signals well and reduces the probability of false detection relative to that without the elevation mask.

The routing algorithm is one of the key research areas in ad hoc networks. The most of existing routing algorithms depends on current availability of wireless link when finding the feasible path. Dependence on current information may mislead to a fragile communication path. Some routing approaches that take statistical average on received signal power enhance the possibility to find the most stable path, but have limitation on considering only the average power level. In this paper, we propose routing algorithm based on link stability for ad hoc network. The proposed algorithm not only takes statistical average, but also traces the degree of variations in received signal power. The simulation result support that the proposed algorithm is more likely to find the most stable path under the severe communication environment.
In this paper, selection criterions on selection diversity are researched. The diversity is applied to the multiple antenna system based on wireless access in vehicular environment (WAVE) standard for rapid varying channel. Least squares (LS) based decision feedback equalizer (DFE) are used for channel equalization. Received signal is regenerated by means of the decision feedback path. In the selection diversity, the regenerated signal as well as the received signal is selected according to selection criterion. The decision feedback algorithm can follow the fast speed of WAVE fading channel. To control the tracking speed of the time-varying channel, simple low pass filter is used. Finally, the estimated channel value recovers the distorted payloads. Signal power before automatic gain control (AGC) in analog stage can be used as a selection criterion. In the digital stage, signal power after AGC, noise power after AGC, signal to noise ratio after AGC and cross-correlation method can be used as selection criterions. According to the simulation results, the performance of the selection diversity is improved in comparison with that of the combining diversity for the WAVE fading channel.

In this paper, we handle the estimation method of the received $E_{b}l1_{o}$ for forward closed-loop power control in cdma2000 systems. The estimation of MS-received $E_{b}l1_{o}$ utilizes the symbols related to the forward power control subchannel transmission. The estimation of the received bit energy and noise variance is analyzed for the frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel. In order to improve SIR (signal-to-interference), the estimation of the received bit energy is made by the coherent combining of the rake-fingers and received I/Q symbols. And, in this paper, we evaluate the performance of forward closed-loop power control according to the mobile speed and the power adjustment step size in terms of the bit error rate (BER) and power control error. Simulation results present the optimal power adjustment step sizes according to the mobile speeds.

In multipath fading channel, diversity is essential to mitigate the impairments. In this paper, we have proposed the angle diversity scheme called ATTD(Angle Time Transmit Diversity) instead of Alamouti's STTD(Space Time Transmit Diversity) and have analyzed the performance of the proposed scheme when signal powers caused by the transmission to different angles are different. Based on it, we have measured the wireless vector-channel in the urban area, which has lots of high-story buildings, using the data collected from the 8 by 4 smart array antenna system that we made. According to the measured data, the received signals from different angles have different signal powers. Our performance analysis results show that the proposed scheme has better performance than the space diversity scheme when the received path signal power is at least -7dB compare to the strongest path signal power.
