A Study on the Reliability Verification of Real-time Railway Safety Integrated Monitoring and Control System (실시간 철도안전 통합 감시제어시스템 신뢰성 검증에 관한 연구)

  • With the recent development of information and communication technology, there have been many attempts to apply various IT technologies in the railway field. Until now, the safety control system has been installed at the site and operated using actual data, but there is a problem that it is difficult to verify the function of the railway safety control system in that no accidents occur in real situations. In this study, accident data is generated randomly to verify that the safety control system is functioning properly, and to this end, simulation data is prepared according to the simulator, accident scenario and scenario. Real-time railway safety monitoring system collects and transmits data from interface devices to common protocol called DDS.

  • The previous study of Digital Broadcasting Recommendation system is based on user explicit profiling information. But user profile is always changing and the exact extraction of user profile is very important in recommendation system like Digital TV using many user interactions. This paper is studied of realtime user profiles aggregation through user remote controller input and matching this profiles with contents meta-data like contents genre information, event information, content viewing time. It is not used commercial database system and network communication solution considering embedded system hardware restriction. And it is considered people want different content genre based on watching time. From the results of this paper, there are improvement of user satisfaction of contents recommendation.

  • This paper presents a solution for personal profiling system based on user-oriented tracking. Here, we introduce a new way to identify and track humans by using two types of cameras: dome and face camera. Dome camera has a wide view angle so that it is suitable for tracking human movement in large area. However, it is difficult to identify a person only by using dome camera because it only sees the target from above. Thus, face camera is employed to obtain facial information for identifying a person. In addition, we also propose a new mechanism to locate human on targeted location by using grid-cell system. These result in a system which has the capability of maintaining human identity and tracking human activity (movement) effectively.

UCI Embedder: A Real-time Broadcast-Content-Identifier Watermarking System for Broadcast Content Distribution Services (방송콘텐츠 유통서비스를 위한 실시간 콘텐츠식별자 은닉삽입 시스템)

  • We introduce the standard content identifier Universal Content Identifier (UCI) and a watermarking system that embeds UCI for the broadcast content distribution services. Our proposed UCI embedder is designed in consideration of integrating with the previously established broadcast system and protecting the illegal distribution of broadcast contents. Our goal is that when broadcast content is transmitted, 28 byte UCI is embedded imperceptibly in the content itself in real-time and the embedded UCI is successfully extracted not only in the typical format used in the broadcast content distribution service but also in the illegally distributed broadcast contents. Usually the illegally distributed contents are modified from the original by changing resolutions, frame rates, or adjusting colors. In this paper, we present a watermarking scheme that embeds 28 byte UCI in broadcast content in real-time while keeping the visual quality high and the embedded watermark robust enough to survive through the various modification. The experimental results show that the embedded UCI remains in the various modified versions of content and that the visual degradation by embedding is not noticeable.

  • In this paper, we propose a prototype system of digital data broadcasting system based on the ATSC data broadcasting standard. This prototype system uses data piping as a mechanism for delivery of arbitrary user-defined data inserted directly into the payload part of the MPEG-2 Transport Stream packets. This data type includes URL or HTML content. After the contents are inserted into the MPEG-2 Transport Stream, they can be delivered through the broadcasting to the DTV set-top receiver. The 75 packets received in real-time during the TV broadcast are used to start display or switch content. This prototype system describes how to achieve common design goals and integrating digital TV and web pages based on the ATSC data broadcasting standard. The prototype system can be used to display digital data contents - HTML, images-on existing TV or digital TV set-tops.

  • This paper deals with research on innovative systems using Python-based artificial intelligence technology in the field of plant growth monitoring. The importance of monitoring and analyzing the health status and growth environment of plants in real time contributes to improving the efficiency and quality of crop production. This paper proposes a method of processing and analyzing plant image data using computer vision and deep learning technologies. The system was implemented using Python language and the main deep learning framework, TensorFlow, PyTorch. A camera system that monitors plants in real time acquires image data and provides it as input to a deep neural network model. This model was used to determine the growth state of plants, the presence of pests, and nutritional status. The proposed system provides users with information on plant state changes in real time by providing monitoring results in the form of visual or notification. In addition, it is also used to predict future growth conditions or anomalies by building data analysis and prediction models based on the collected data. This paper is about the design and implementation of Python-based plant growth monitoring systems, data processing and analysis methods, and is expected to contribute to important research areas for improving plant production efficiency and reducing resource consumption.

  • These fields are integrated to visualize and finalize the proposed development, in simulation environment. SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems and distributed control systems (DCSs) are widely deployed in all over the world, which are designed to control the industrial infrastructures, in real ways. To supervise and control the various parts of designed systems; trends to require a deep knowledge to understand the overall functional needs of industries, which could be a big challenge. Industrial field devices (or network sensors) are usually distributed in many locations and are controlled from centralized site (or main control center); the communication provides various signs of security issues. To handle these issues, the research contribution will twofold: a method using cryptography is deployed in critical systems for security purposes and overall transmission is controlled from main controller site. At controller site, multimedia components are employed to control the overall transmission graphically, such as system communication, bytes flows, security embedded parameters and others, by the means of multimedia technology.

Effective Admission Policy for Multimedia Traffic Connections over Satellite DVB-RCS Network

  • Thanks to the great possibilities of providing different types of telecommunication traffic to a large geographical area, satellite networks are expected to be an essential component of the next-generation internet. As a result, issues concerning the designing and testing of efficient connection-admission-control (CAC) strategies in order to increase the quality of service (QoS) for multimedia traffic sources, are attractive and at the cutting edge of research. This paper investigates the potential strengths of a generic digital-video-broadcasting return-channel-via-satellite (DVB-RCS) system architecture, proposing a new CAC algorithm with the aim of efficiently managing real-time multimedia video sources, both with constant and high variable data rate transmission; moreover, the proposed admission strategy is compared with a well-known iterative CAC mainly designed for the managing of real-time bursty traffic sources in order to demonstrate that the new algorithm is also well suited for those traffic sources. Performance analysis shows that, both algorithms guarantee the agreed QoS to real-time bursty connections that are more sensitive to delay jitter; however, our proposed algorithm can also manage interactive real-time multimedia traffic sources in high load and mixed traffic conditions.

  • Personalized message syndication is an important process for maximizing the effect of mobile marketing. This paper proposes an algorithm for determining clients satisfying target conditions in real-time. The proxy server as an intermediate node stores client profiles (gender, age, location, etc) and their respective summaries into a database. When a company syndicates messages at run time, the proxy server maps target conditions expressed by boolean expressions to integer value and determines target clients by comparing target value with profile summary. Thus, this approach provides efficient personalized message syndication in very large systems with millions of clients because it can determine target clients in real-time and work with a traditional database easily.

  • This paper considers a timeslot assignment problem in an interactive satellite multimedia (ISM) system with digital video broadcast-return channel via satellite (DVB-RCS). The timeslot assignment problem is formulated as a binary integer programming to maximize the overall weighted throughput and is shown to be NP-hard. Thus, three real-time heuristic algorithms including ratio-based, packet-size (PS)-based, and transmission gain (TG)-based are derived, and some computational experiments are made. Considering the results, the ratio-based heuristic algorithm is demonstrated to be the most effective and efficient. We propose adapting the ratio-based heuristic algorithm to the timeslot assignment problem to greatly improve the ISM system utilization.
