Object of this paper are numerical and experimental evaluation of Korean Standard Train Loading(L-loading scheme) with respect to UIC's and real train loading, quantitative formulation of the real train types in South Korea. These objects are require to changing environment of train operation, for example, high density traffic and gradual train speed increase. For the reasonable repair, reinforcement and rehabilitation of existing railway infrastructures, statistical analysis of the loading effect during the long term experiment in conventional lines have to conduct. Statistical quantitative formulation of the loading case need to consistency numerical evaluation of the railway safety. Hereafter, those results will be core technical data for the economy enhancement of international line construction. Further, these results are using to make track maintenance criterions for transcontinental, speed up railway and revision of standard train leading diagram.
This paper describes a method of estimating miniature train location by color vision for development of an intelligent railway system model. In the teal world, to control trains automatically, GPS(Global Positioning System) is indispensable to determine the location of trains. A color vision system was used for estimating the location of trains in an indoor experiment. Two different rectangular color bars were attached to the top of each train as a means of identifying them. Several trains were detected where they were located on the track by color feature, geometric features and moment invariant, and tracked simultaneously. In the experiment the identity, location and direction of each train were estimated and transferred to the control computer using serial communication. Processing speed of up to 8 frames/sec could be achieved, which was enough speed for the real-time train control.
A magnetically levitated vehicle (Maglev) system is under commercialization as a new transportation system in Korea. The Maglev is operated by an unmanned automatic control system. Therefore, the plan of train operation should be carefully established and validated in advance. In general, when making a train operation plan, statistically predicted traffic data is used. However, a traffic wave often occurs in real train service, and demand-driven simulation technology is required to review a train operation plan and service quality considering traffic waves. We propose a method and model to simulate Maglev operation considering continuous demand changes. For this purpose, we employed a discrete event model that is suitable for modeling the behavior of railway passenger transportation. We modeled the system hierarchically using discrete event system specification (DEVS) formalism. In addition, through implementation and an experiment using the DEVSim++ simulation environment, we tested the feasibility of the proposed model. Our experimental results also verified that our demand-driven simulation technology can be used for a priori review of train operation plans and strategies.
Experimental study has been conducted to clarify the internal and external pressure variation characteristics for KTX(Korea Train eXpress) passing through tunnel. Abrupt pressure variation gives rise to the ear-discomfort for passenger and fatigue for car body. In this study, the internal and external pressure variation are measured by using KTX real train experiment and on-board portable data acquisition system in Gyeongbu high speed commercial line. The tunnels from 200 m to 4000 m in length are chosen for the investigation of tunnel length effects. From the results of experiment, the internal pressure variation rate for all the test tunnels is lower than the standard criteria of 200 Pa/s. And, the critical tunnel lengths for pressure wave pattern are classified into 7 groups by using the theoretical L-t diagram analysis.
Typically, studies through the simulation system have been progressed, because the evaluation of the driver's arousal state about the service of a actual train has risk of safety for the driver. When configured event same as the real in simulation system, the ability to cope with an accident situation may be the same each other. But the difference in the state of tension or arousal will occur. In this study, requested to cooperate with the railways in order to escape from these constraints, and the target of the experiment was to real engineer service. I was set about experiment when the train was stopped as safe as possible. As a result, the beta wave of EEG signals that representing complex calculations or anxiety is increased rapidly on the basis of a flag station from at the time of departure. The size of the electrodermal activity signal in response to movement of the body gave a noticeable. In terms of HRV, if the train approach a flag station gradually and the R-R interval is narrowed. So that the driver can be estimated as arousal state. In accordance with this study, if the quantitative standard of arousal state be based on the driver's biosignals will provide, it will be able to take advantage of development the system that would prevent train accidents caused by human error.
Train accidents can be directly connected to fatal accidents-collision, derailment, Fire, railway crossing accidents-resulting in tremendous human casualties. First of all, the railway derailment is not only related to most of railway accidents but also it can lead to much more catastrophic accompanying train overtured than other factors. Therefore, it is most important factor to ensure railway safety. some foreign countries have applied to the detector machines(e.g., ultrasonic detector car, sleep mode, current detector, optical sensing, optical fiber). Since it was developed in order to prevent train from being derailed. In korea, the existing track method has been used to monitor rail condition using track circuit. However, we found out it impossible for Communication Based Train Control system(CBTC), recent technology to detect rail condition using balise(data transmission devices) without no track circuit. For this reason, it is needed instantly to develop real-time monitoring system used to detect broken rails. Firstly, this paper presents domestic and international statues analysis of rail breaks technology. Secondly, the composition and the characteristics of the real-time monitoring system. Finally, the evidence that this system could assumed the location and type of broken rails was proved by the experiment of prototype and operation line tests. We concluded that this system can detect rail break section in which error span exist within${\pm}1m$.
In this paper, the combined system equation of motion, which can analyze the dynamic interaction between pantograph and catenary system, is derived by adopting absolute nodal coordinates and rigid body coordinates. The analysis results are compared with real experiment data from test running of Korean high-speed train (HSR 350x). In addition, a computation method for the dynamic stress of contact wire is presented using the derived system equation of motion. This method might be good example and significant in that the structural and multibody dynamics model can be unified into one numerical system.
