Implementation of Automatic Gateway System Using the DSRC (단거리전용무선통신(DSRC)을 이용한 자동게이트시스뎀 구현)

  • CVO(Commercial Vehicle Operations) of Intelligent Transport Systems is the system to manage effciently cargo distribution as providing at real time the information of cargo location and situation through nS and GPS technology. In this paper, we proposed the Gate Automation System of harbors among AVI/AEI. To implement this system, we use the DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) which adopts an wireless communication between RSE(Road-side Equipment) and OBE(on-Board Equipment) on a vehicle. When constructing the automation gateway system of harbors, the business application ability are reviewed practically and the logistics facilities to be constructed in the near future nay use this paper results according to the international standard and it could help complete integrated logistics system.

Use of a Driving Simulator to Determine Optimum VMS Locations for Freeway Off-ramp Traffic Diversion (Driving Simulator를 이용한 유출지점 경로안내용 VMS 적정 설치 위치 결정에 관한 연구)

  • Variable Message Signs (VMS) is one of the major components for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) services that provides real-time traffic and incident information to drivers. The objective of this research was to develop a method determining the optimal location of VMS considering safety and driving characteristics of various drivers. A driving simulator was utilized to evaluate how drivers can safely exit to off-ramp depending on various VMS locations while information relating route diversion was provided. The binary logistic regression and factor analysis were applied in developing a probability model that predicts the success of safe off-ramp exiting. Based on the developed probability model, a method to estimate the spacing between VMS and off-ramp is suggested. It is expected that the products of this study would be utilized as a tool in determining VMS locations for ITS planners and designers.

  • In this paper, we classified a flight pattern of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) which will be operating in UTM system and analyzed its flight pattern by purpose of use. Flight patterns of UAV are sorted into three patterns which are circling, monitoring and delivery. We considered four cases of industry areas using UAV which are agriculture, infrastructure monitoring, public safety & security(p.s.s) and delivery. It is necessary to build a simulation model as a verification tool for applying the flight pattern according to the use of UAV to the real UTM system. Therefore, we propose the simulation model of UAV with updating states over time. We applied simulation to UAV monitoring flight pattern, and confirmed that the flight was done by the given input data. The simulation model will be used in the future to verify that the UAV has various flight patterns and can operate safely and efficiently for the intended use.

  • Glucose is a major source of metabolic fuel and lipid and protein syntheses. Transport of glucose into the cell is regulated by an action of glucose transport.associated transporters, especially solute carriers 2A (Slc2a, protein symbol GLUT). The present study was focused on examination of mRNA expression of various Slc2a isoforms in the epididymis during postnatal development. Total RNAs isolated from different epididymal segments (caput, corpus, and caudal epididymis) were utilized for real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses. Results showed that Slc2a 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8 were expressed in the entire epididymal regions. In addition, the abundance of these Slc2a isoforms' transcripts was different within each epididymal regions. Moreover, the present study showed differential expression of these Slc2a isoforms among different epididymal segments according to postnatal ages. The current study suggests that glucose transport in the epididymis via various Slc2a isoforms would be necessary for maintenance of the epididymal functions.

Performance monitoring of timber structures in underground construction using wireless SmartPlank

  • Although timber structures have been extensively used in underground temporary supporting system, their actual performance is poorly understood, resulting in potentially conservative and over-engineered design. In this paper, a novel wireless sensor technology, SmartPlank, is introduced to monitor the field performance of timber structures during underground construction. It consists of a wooden beam equipped with a streamlined wireless sensor node, two thin foil strain gauges and two temperature sensors, which enables to measure the strain and temperature at two sides of the beam, and to transmit this information in real-time over an IPv6 (6LowPan) multi-hop wireless mesh network and Internet. Four SmartPlanks were deployed at the London Underground's Tottenham Court Road (TCR) station redevelopment site during the Stair 14 excavation, together with seven relay nodes and a gateway. The monitoring started from August 2013, and will last for one and a half years until the Central Line possession in 2015. This paper reports both the short-term and long-term performances of the monitored timber structures. The grouting effect on the short-term performance of timber structures is highlighted; the grout injection process creates a large downward pressure on the top surface of the SmartPlank. The short and long term earth pressures applied to the monitored structures are estimated from the measured strains, and the estimated values are compared to the design loads.

Numerical Model Test of Spilled Oil Transport Near the Korean Coasts Using Various Input Parametric Models

  • Oil spills pose significant threats to marine ecosystems, human health, socioeconomic aspects, and coastal communities. Accurate real-time predictions of oil slick transport along coastlines are paramount for quick preparedness and response efforts. This study used an open-source OpenOil numerical model to simulate the fate and trajectories of oil slicks released during the 2007 Hebei Spirit accident along the Korean coasts. Six combinations of input parameters, derived from a five-day met-ocean dataset incorporating various hydrodynamic, meteorological, and wave models, were investigated to determine the input variables that lead to the most reasonable results. The predictive performance of each combination was evaluated quantitatively by comparing the dimensions and matching rates between the simulated and observed oil slicks extracted from synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data on the ocean surface. The results show that the combination incorporating the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) for hydrodynamic parameters exhibited more substantial agreement with the observed spill areas than Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS), yielding up to 88% and 53% similarity, respectively, during a more than four-day oil transportation near Taean coasts. This study underscores the importance of integrating high-resolution met-ocean models into oil spill modeling efforts to enhance the predictive accuracy regarding oil spill dynamics and weathering processes.

  • In recent years, the passengers are likely to decide their route on impulse due to the development of the integrated public transport system, and real-time information system. Especially, public transport fare integration in Seoul Metropolitan area, 2004 makes them not to have resistance about changing the modes or routes and their route choice is most effected by the degree of congestion. Assignment model have limitations to describe route changes by congestion. In this study, the concept of a link cost function used in road assignment and Effective frequency is introduced to describe the passengers' behavior when the capacity of public transport is over and the waiting time variation. Two situations, new transit line operation and accident, are set up to validate the model, as a result of the transit assignment by this model, the traffic on networks is not over the capacity. It is expected that this study will be of help to reflect the various behaviors in transit assignments.

An Efficient Transmission Scheme of MPEG2-TS over RTP for a Hybrid DMB System

  • Hybrid digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) is a next-generation mobile TV system that combines broadcasting and wireless communication networks and can provide various high-quality multimedia services. However, if a system adheres to the current standard of transmitting the DMB content in the form of MPEG2-TS through wireless networks, it results in a burden on the network due to low transmission efficiency. The reasons for the low transmission efficiency are as follows. First, due to its constant bitrate characteristic, DMB MPEG2-TS includes a considerable amount of needless information, such as NULL packets and stuffing bytes. Second, due to the inflexibility of the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) standard, one cannot fully utilize the maximum transmission unit of the network when converting MPEG2-TS to RTP stream for transmission. This paper proposes a new transmission scheme that resolves these problems. Experiment results show that the proposed scheme improves data bitrate transmission efficiency by 8% to 36%, compared to the standard scheme, in the streaming of various real-DMB contents.

  • In the Recent times, various technological enhancements in the field of artificial intelligence and big data has been noticed. This advancement coupled with the evolution of the 5G communication and Internet of Things technologies, has helped in the development in the domain of smart mine construction. The development of unmanned vehicles with enhanced and smart scheduling system for open-pit mine transportation is one such much needed application. Traditional open-pit mining systems, which often cause vehicle delays and congestion, are controlled by human authority. The number of sensors has been used to operate unmanned cars in an open-pit mine. The sensors haves been used to prove the real-time data in large quantity. Using this data, we analyses and create an improved transportation scheduling mechanism so as to optimize the paths for the vehicles. Considering the huge amount the data received and aggregated through various sensors or sources like, the GPS data of the unmanned vehicle, the equipment information, an intelligent, and multi-target, open-pit mine unmanned vehicle schedules model was developed. It is also matched with real open-pit mine product to reduce transport costs, overall unmanned vehicle wait times and fluctuation in ore quality. To resolve the issue of scheduling the transportation, we prefer to use algorithms based on artificial intelligence. To improve the convergence, distribution, and diversity of the classic, rapidly non-dominated genetic trial algorithm, to solve limited high-dimensional multi-objective problems, we propose a decomposition-based restricted genetic algorithm for dominance (DBCDP-NSGA-II).

  • In korea, TIT(Transport Information Technology) based IP-TV services have been provided in Saemaeul trains and some sections of subway trains, But the software systems for the service performed in alternated fashions and suffered from many problems such as suspension, memory leaking and overflow, These problems increased playback loss time and resulted in bad reliabilities, In this paper, a software TIT monitor is designed and implemented for Monitoring module and Reset module in physically poor environments, The designed system formalized monitoring time intervals for effective monitoring, Through the real experiments, playback time is improved in 7.2% comparing to existing system.
