Because robot hardware architecture generally is consisted of a few sensors and motors connected to the central processing unit, this type of structure is led to time consuming and unreliable system. For analysis, one of the fundamental difficulties in real-time system is how to be bounded the time behavior of the system. When a distributed control network controls the robot, with a central computing hub that sets the goals for the robot, processes the sensor information and provides coordination targets for the joints. If the distributed system supposed to be connected to a control network, the joints have their own control processors that act in groups to maintain global stability, while also operating individually to provide local motor control. We try to analyze the architecture of network-based humanoid robot's leg part and deal with its application using the CAN(Controller Area Network) protocol.
In this paper, a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics and control model has been developed for a virtual reality intelligent vehicle simulator. The simulator consists of low PCs for a virtual reality visualization system, vehicle dynamics and control analysis system a control loading system, and a network monitoring system. Virtual environment is created by 3D Studio Max graphic tool and OpenGVS real-time rendering library. A real-time vehicle dynamics and control model consists of a control module based on the sliding mode control for adaptive cruise control and a real-time multibody vehicle dynamics module based on the subsystem synthesis method. To verify the real-time capability of the model, cut-in, cut-out simulations have been carried out.
In this paper, we evaluate feasibility of an object-oriented method in a distributed real-time control environment through the prediction of delay expected. We adopt CAN as the distributed network and the application layer of the CAN is composed of client/server communication model of COM and surroundings for the support of real-time capability of the COM. Mathematical models formalizing delays which are predicted to invoke in the COM architecture are proposed. Sensors and actuators which are widely used in distributed network-based systems are represented by COM objects in this paper. It is expected that the mathematical models can be used to protect distributed network-based systems from violation of real-time features by the COM.

Synchronous computing models provided by real-time synchrony protocols, such as TTA [1] and PALS [2], greatly simplify the design, implementation, and verification of real-time distributed systems. However, their application to real systems has been limited since their assumptions on underlying systems are hard to satisfy. In particular, most previous real-time synchrony protocols hypothesize the existence of underlying fault tolerant real-time networks. This, however, might not be true in most soft real-time applications. In this paper, we propose a practical approach to a synchrony protocol, called Quality-Aware PALS (qPALS), which provides the benefits of a synchronous computing model in environments where no fault-tolerant real-time network is available. qPALS supports two flexible global synchronization protocols: one tailored for the performance and the other for the correctness of synchronization. Hence, applications can make a negotiation flexibly between performance and correctness. In qPALS, the Quality-of-Service (QoS) on synchronization and consistency is specified in a probabilistic manner, and the specified QoS is supported under dynamic and unpredictable network environments via a control-theoretic approach. Our simulation results show that qPALS supports highly reliable synchronization for critical events while still supporting the efficiency and performance even when the underlying network is not stable.

Neural networks are used in the framework of sensorbased tracking control of robot manipulators. They learn by practice movements the relationship between PSD ( an analog Position Sensitive Detector) sensor readings for target positions and the joint commands to reach them. Using this configuration, the system can track or follow a moving or stationary object in real time. Furthermore, an efficient neural network architecture has been developed for real time learning. This network uses multiple sets of simple backpropagation networks one of which is selected according to which division (corresponding to a cluster of the self-organizing feature map) in data space the current input data belongs to. This lends itself to a very fast training and processing implementation required for real time control.
The CAN is a serial communication protocol for distributed real-time control and automation systems. Data generated from field devices in the distributed control of power plant are classified into three categories: real-time event data, real-time control data, non-real-time data. These data share a CAN medium. If the traffic of the CAN protocol is not efficiently controlled, performance requirements of the power plant system could not be satisfied. This paper proposes a bandwidth allocation algorithm that can be applicable to the CAN protocol. The bandwidth allocation algorithm not only satisfies the performance requirements of the real-time systems in the power plant but also fully utilizes the bandwidth of CAN. The bandwidth allocation algorithm introduced in this paper is validated using the integrated discrete-event/continuous-time simulation model which comprises the CAN network and distributed control system of power plant.
This paper deals with implementation of middleware using CAN(Controller Area Network) network and TCP/IP for real-time distributed control system of a humanoid robot. Existent system using CAN network is available. But, there is problems in extensibility and flexibility. In this raper, the new system using TCP/IP for solution and improvement of problems is proposed. The new system is applied to ISHURO-II, real-humanoid robot. The performance is verified through experiment.
Recently, network systems are widely used in several areas, and some considerable attentions have been directed to the Networked Control System(NCS). In NCS, network-induced delays are inevitable, and they sometimes degrade the performance of networked control systems to be a source of potential instability. In this paper, We proposes a compensation method for networked control system subject to network-induced delays by using a simple method, which is based on a sort of predictive strategy. To evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness, a real-time NCS for a rotary inverted pendulum is implemented via an Ethernet. Based on the experimental results. we show that the proposed simple method can be a practical and feasible solution to NCS design.
The real-time industrial network often referred to as fieldbus, is an important element for building automated manufacturing systems. Thus, in order to satisfy the real-time requirements of field devices such as sensors, actuators, and controllers. numerous standard organizations and vendors have developed various fieldbus protocols such as Profibus, WorldFIP and Foundation Fieldbus. However, the application of fieldbus has been limited due to the high cost of hardware and the difficulty in interfacing with multi-vendor products. In order to solve these problems, the computer network technology, especially Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), is being adopted lo the industrial environment. The crucial technical obstacle for Ethernet is that its non-deterministic behavior makes it inadequate for industrial applications where real-time data such as control command and alarm signal hale to be delivered within a certain time limit. Recently, the development of switched Ethernet shows a very promising prospect for industrial application due to the elimination of uncertainties in the network operation resulting in much improved performance. This paper focuses on the application of the switched Ethernet for industrial comm unications.
This paper focus on a method to use Ethernet Network for Industrial Communication Network. Ethernet use the CSMA/CD MAC(Medium Access Control) Protocol at the Data-Link Layer, Which isn't suit for Industrial Communication Network requiring Real-Time Communication, periodic data processing, critical data processing characteristics. In this paper we proposed the Virtual Polling Algorithm at the Application Layer will be solution of using the Ethernet Network for the Industrial Communication Network, Proposed Algorithm terminate the Collision in the network thus Delay Time is reduced and Real-Time Communication will be implemented.
