전력품질 개선을 위한 HTS SMES 적용 시뮬레이션 (HTS SMES Application Simulation for Power Quality Simulation)

  • Wind power generation system (WPGS) of Ulleung Island causes frequency and voltage fluctuation due to wind speed variation during night time. Superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) system can overcome the fluctuations through the fast response time of energy charging and discharging. The SMES system should be connected to the terminal of the WPGS for frequency stabilization. To demonstrated the effectiveness of SMES system for power quality improvement, Ulleung Island power network was modeled in a real time digital simulator (RTDS). The RTDS-based simulation results of power quality improvement with SMES are investigated and discussed in detail.

시변 고장률을 이용한 배전계통 유지보수 우선순위 결정 (Deciding the Maintenance Priority of Power Distribution System using Time-varying Failure Rate)

  • The failure prediction and preventive maintenance for the equipment of nuclear power plant area using reliability-centered maintenance have been grown. On the other hand, the maintenance for power distribution system consists of time-based maintenance mainly. In this paper, the new maintenance algorithms for power distribution system are developed considering reliability indices. First of all, Time-varying failure rates are extracted from data accumulated at KEPCO using exponential distribution function and weibull distribution function. Next, based on the extracted failure rate, reliability for real power distribution system is evaluated for applying the effective maintenance algorithm which is the analytic method deciding the maintenance point of time and searching the feeder affecting the specific customer. Also the algorithm deciding the maintenance priority order are presented based on sensitivity analysis and equipment investment plan are analyzed through the presented algorithm at real power distribution system.

  • A necessity to a superconducting cable in power transmission systems have been growing more and more due to high power density in urban areas and rapid increase of power demand. In view of these situation, it is a noteworthy fact that superconducting cable has remarkable advantages, such as lower power loss and 3-5 times higher power transmission capacity, compared with conventional power cable. For the last a few years, long-term reliability tests had been carried out in the KEPCO PT Center, and now it has been installed in KEPCO's real power grid for demonstrating commercial operation. This paper deals with the test results of dielectric properties performed at manufacturing factory for the joint box, termination and core of HTS cable system and whole system connected in real power grid.

  • In this paper, a real-time communication method using a PICNET-NP (Plant Instrumentation and Control Network for Nuclear Power plant) is proposed with an analysis of the control network requirements of DCS (Distributed Control System) in nuclear power plants. The method satisfies deadline in case of worst data traffics by considering aperiodic and periodic real-time data and others.

  • Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC)-based HVDC power transmission using a real-time simulator is one of the key technologies in power electronics research. This paper introduces the design methodology of a physical MMC-HVDC control system based on a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), which has the advantage of high-speed parallel operation, and validates the accuracy of MMC-HVDC control when operated with a Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Finally, this paper compares and analyzes the characteristics of capacitor voltage balancing methods such as Nearest Level Control (NLC), NLC with a reduced switching frequency, and tolerance band modulation implemented on physical control system.

분산전원시스템의 계통연계를 위한 새로운 단독운전 방지기법 (A New Anti-Islanding Method for Utility Interconnection of Distributed Power Generation System)

  • 본 논문은 신$.$재생에너지를 이용한 분산전원시스템을 위한 새로운 단독운전 방지기법을 제시한다. 유효전력과 무효전력 불균형의 개념에 근거해서 3가지 다른 단독운전 조건이 분석된다. 단독운전 전압이 유효전력의 함수이고 그 주파수는 유효전력과 무효전력의 함수임이 분석을 통해 보여준다. 이 분석결과를 이용해서 새로운 단독운전 방지기법이 개발되었다. 제안된 보호 알고리즘은 분산전원에 의해 공급되는 무효전력을 계속적으로 $\pm$5% 변화시키면서 동시에 계통전압과 주파수를 관측한다. 만일 단독운전에 의해 측정할 정도의 주파수 이탈이 발생하면 더 나아가 분산전원의 유효전력을 80%로 감소시킨다. 이 검출기법은 공진부하에서도 빠르게 동작됨을 보여준다. 가능한 단독 운전조건이 모의되고 분석 증명된다. 0.5 kW 연계형 연료전지 시스템의 실험결과가 제시된다.

한국형 EMS 시스템용 실시간 조류계산 프로그램 개발 (Development of Real-Time Load Flow Program for Korean Energy Management System)

  • This paper introduces a real-time load flow program for Korean energy management system(EMS). This study is concentrated on the following aspects. First, we propose the model of the real-time database and power system equipment for the real-time load flow. These models are extracted from the needs of load flow functions and are designed to the application common information. Second, several techniques are applied for the efficient convergence and computational speed. The generation/load mismatch is redistributed using generator participation factors which are separated to the reference bus. For the voltage control, the jacobian matrix is composed with the basic Y matrix elements and the voltage control elements. Through the optimally ordering, jacobian row and column for a column is changed. However all jacobian matrix entries have same order with the Y matrix. The proposed program is tested using the Korea Electric Power Corporation(KEPCO) system. Through the test, we verified that the proposed program can be effectively used to accomplish the Korean EMS system.

  • In this paper, a real-time communication method using a PICNET-NP(Plant instrumentation and Control Network for Nuclear Power plant) is proposed with an analysis of the control network requirements of DCS(Distributed Control System) in nuclear power plants. The method satisfies deadline in case of worst data traffics by considering aperiodic and periodic real-time data and others. In addition, the method was used to analyze the data characteristics of the DCS in existing nuclear power plant. The result shows that use of this method meets the response time requirement(100ms).

A Study on Voltage Stability Improvement by the Efficient Network Reconfiguration Algorithm

  • This paper presents an optimal routing algorithm (ORA) for maximizing voltage stability as well as for minimizing power loss in radial power systems. In the proposed ORA, a novel voltage stability index (VSI) for real-time assessment is newly introduced based on the conventional critical transmission path framework. In addition, the suggested algorithm can automatically detect the critical transmission paths resulting in voltage collapse when additional real or reactive loads are added. To implement an effective ORA, we have developed an improved branch exchange (IBE) method based on a loss calculation index and tie-branch power flow equations, which are suggested for real-time applications. The proposed algorithm has been tested with IEEE test systems as well as a large-scale power system in Korea to demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency.

주파수 평활화 기법을 이용한 전력 관리 알고리즘 (A Power-Aware Scheduling Algorithm by Setting Smoothing Frequencies)

  • 대부분의 전력 관리 기법에 대한 연구는 동작 주파수나 동작 전압을 변화 시켜 시스템의 가용성을 증가시키는데 집중되었다. 이 방법은 전력소모를 줄이기 위해 구동 주파수를 수시로 변경하므로 실 시스템의 성능을 저하 시킨다. 소비 전력을 줄이기 위한 다른 방법은 구동 주파수의 개수를 제한하거나 실행 시간 동안 전체 주파수를 완만하게 관리하여 시스템의 성능을 높이는 것이다. 허나 기존 연구는 실시간 응용 프로그램에는 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 시스템에서 소비 전력의 손실을 줄이고 시스템의 성능을 향상시키기 위해 구동 주파수 레벨의 할당 방법과 주파수 평활화 기법을 이용한 전력 관리 기법을 제안한다. 이 기법은 연속적인 주파수 간격에서 알고리즘이 예측한 주파수를 양자화된 주파수로 매핑한다. 이러한 주파수 평활화 기법은 좁은 주파수 대역에서 잦은 주파수 변경으로 발생한 시스템의 오버헤드를 줄일 수 있다. 매핑된 주파수는 넓은 주파수 간격에서 주파수 불일치로 발생하는 전력소모를 줄일 수 있다. 모의실험을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘이 기존의 CC RT-DVS 기법에 비해 최대 40%, 평균 15% 정도 소비 전력을 줄일 수 있었다.
