This study was accomplished to support farmers who want to introduce Automatic Milking System. The methods of analysis is considered on it as investment analysis that NPV, ROV and FROV. As a classical investment analysis technique, NPV showed 142 thousand won on the every senarioes. On the other hands, The Real Option Analysis showed 153,826, 154,937 and 152,858 on the normal, optimistic and pessimistic senarioes respectively. it is considered as a investment analysis technique for strategic decision-making. But, it may have problem to evaluate present value of expected cash flows and expected costs by a single number. To solve those problems, this paper tried to evaluate Fuzzy Real Option Model which were jointed with a real option model and Fuzzy set model. The result of analysis showed, on respective senarioes, 153,515 to 161,489, 154,612 to 162,970, and 152,573 to 159,835 on the interval estimation. Thereby It is a more realistic in many cases.

This study analyzed economic feasibility using the real options theory of the eco-environment area project in Saemangeum. I defined the main factors affecting project sales during the 30 years operation period. The real option-based analysis is proposed through the managerial flexibility by estimating the volatility of project sales using scenarios analysis method. The number of visitors, admission fee, leisure program fee, and O&M costs required for economic analysis of eco-environment park were analyzed by reviewing cases of similar eco-environment parks in Korea. The option value is calculated by assuming that the developers have an option right that can be abandoned. B/C is less than 1 and NPV is negative, so it is impossible to proceed with the project using the traditional economic analysis. The project value difference between NPV (-46.6 billion Won) and option value (28.1 billion Won) increased by 74.7 billion Won. Through this study, decision-makers of public institutions and private developers who plan eco-environment area projects will be able to use the real option technique proposed in this study.

R&D is the core competence of an enterprise. Furthermore, R&D requires huge capital investment and has very risky characteristics. Therefore, to be successful in R&D process, several approaches of engineering economics are used prior to decision-making. Until now, typical approaches of engineering economics such as NPV(net present value) or DCF(Discounted cash flow) have been used. But, they cannot properly capture managerial flexibility to adapt and revise later decisions in response to unexpected market development. In a constantly changing and always uncertain marketplace, managerial operation flexibility and strategic adaptability have become vital in order to successfully capitalize on favorable future investment opportunities and limit losses from adverse market development. For the alternatives of conventional static decision-making approaches, new concept of using real options is introduced. Real option theory is based on financial option's characteristics and checks every revision interval whether situation have changed favorable to decision maker or not. In advantageous situation, the decision maker has only to go on. In contrast, with unfavorable situation, he abandons the investment immediately. In this aspect, real option model is more suitable in very uncertain and dynamic business environment in that it can provide the opportunity to cope with flexibility. This paper suggests efficient and effective R&D investment strategy by using real options model. In addition, this paper compares financial options and real options.

Determining on a particular construction method is typically decided in the initial phases of a project. However, changing conditions during actual construction may require a different method or technology to be employed. Providing an option for project managers to change construction provides flexibility that can increase value to the overall project. This research provides the ability to modify construction methods as a real option, which allows its value to be modeled. The research also formalizes a way to integrate a binomial lattice model with the Earned Value Method's S-curve. The integrated model provides a decision support tool that planners can use to determine whether to exercise the option depending on the status metrics provided by EVM.

In this paper, we suggest theoretical grounds on the problem of R&D portfolio with different option premiums utilizing the Real Options Model, which has received intensified attention as the method of assessment of R&D project with high risk. Even though there have been many studies focused on the evaluation of option value of single project from technology valuation's perspective. there are few study on the portfolio of multiple technology investment by option value using. This paper bears practical importance by showing simple examples with the option value of investment alternatives and the valuation of related risk, the construction of optimum portfolio in technology investment alternatives.

Black-Scholes equation arising from option pricing in the presence of cost in trading the underlying asset is derived. The transaction cost is chosen precisely and generalized to reflect the trade in the real world. Furthermore the concept of the bandwidth is introduced to obtain the better rehedging. The model with bandwidth derived in this paper can be used to calculate the more accurate option price numerically even if it is nonlinear and more complicated than the models shown before.

Although many companies acknowledge the necessity of investment of information security, it is difficult to grasp a tangible effect and to calculate a scale of damage from the security incident. Consequently, companies are under the reality that it is not easy to make an investment decision for information security and to calculate the investment scale. For the investment decision making, although there are several traditional techniques of investment analysis, the investment of information security, comparing to other tangible assets, has limitations in using traditional techniques due to the highly uncertain investment effects. In this study, the traditional technique of investment analysis will be described, and the application method of analytic technique for Real Option, which is developed from the evaluation technique of highly uncertain financial futures and options, will be suggested.
This paper attempts to evaluate an environmental regulation program which enforces installation of filtering equipment to reduce major air pollutants from used diesel vehicles. A real option model is presented to incorporate fuel cost uncertainty and irreversibility of emission-reducing investment. A finite-life option based on finite difference method is developed to consider the limited life expectancy of used vehicles. After taking into account social benefits from emission reduction and costs from decreasing fuel efficiency after the adoption of filtering technology, the result finds overall positive performance of the Pollution Reduction Program. However, the result suggests that the Program be designed to be more specific to vehicle types to improve program performance.

This study reviewed how the changes of the government policy on solar power generation projects affected the annual mandatory quotas of the regulated power providers under the RPS (renewable portfolio standard) system and analysed economic feasibility of the investment for meeting their quotas as compared to the case of non-regulated power providers. The analysis results showed that under the discount rate of 7.5%, which was used for the annual national electricity plans for the recent years, both the regulated and non-regulated power providers achieved economic feasibility under both the NPV (net present value) method and the real option pricing method. It was also shown that higher profitability was attained by non-regulated power providers than by their regulated counterparts, which can be attributable to the fact that regulated providers are required to out-source 50% of the total quota. The results of this study are considered to be useful for establishing a meaningful mid term or long term strategy for the future of solar power generation linked to the current RPS system.
