읽기 장애 아동과 주의력 결핍/과잉 활동장애 아동의 인지적 특성 (COGNITIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF CHILDREN WITH DYSLEXIA AND/OR ATTENTION DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER)

  • 읽기 장애 아동, 주의력 결핍/과잉 활동 장애(이하 주의력 장애) 아동 및 읽기 장애와 주의력 장애를 함께 지니고 있는 혼합형 장애 아동의 인지적 특성을 조사하였다. 조사 대상은 읽기 장애 아동 16명, 주의력 장애 아동 26명, 혼합형 장애 아동 17명이었으며, 지능검사, 성취도 검사 및 주의력 검사를 포함하는 신경심리 검사를 실시하였다. 주의력 장애 아동과 혼합형 장애 아동은 Test of Variables of Attention(TOVA)의 변산성, 정반응 시간에서 읽기 장애 아동에 비하여 의미있는 비효율성을 나타내었으며, 읽기 장애 아동과 혼합형 장애 아동은 주의력 장애 아동에 비하여 문자 및 단어 읽기 과제, 단어 재인 과제 및 문장 이해력을 측정하는 과제에서 두드러진 비효율성을 나타내었다. 지능검사에서 언어성 지능과 동작성 지능의 차이를 비교한 결과, 읽기 장애 집단과 혼합형 집단은 주의력 장애 집단에 비하여 언어성 지능이 의미있게 저하되어 있었다. 지능검사 소검사 중 읽기 장애 집단과 주의력 장애 집단사이에 의미있는 차이가 나타난 것은 상식 소검사뿐이었다. 수자 소검사에서는 혼합형 집단만 의미하는 저하를 나타내었다. 혼합형 장애 집단은 저기 장애와 주의력 장애의 인지적 결함이 모두 나타났을 뿐 아니라 수행효율이 전반적으로 낮았다. 각 검사의 진단 유용성을 살펴보기 위한 판별 분석에서는 2개의 판별함수가 도출되었다 함수 1은 주의력 장애 집단과 나머지 두 집단을 의미있게 판별해 주었으며, 함수 2는 혼합형 집단과 나머지 두 집단을 판별해 주었다. 판별 정확율은 93.88%였다.

자기보고식 음성장애 설문지 문항의 가독성 평가 (Evaluation of the readability of self-reported voice disorder questionnaires)

  • 음성장애 평가 시, 음성문제로 인해 개인이 느끼는 불편감, 삶의 질 등의 주관적인 자기보고식 평가의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 자기보고식 설문은 대상자가 직접 읽고 실시하는 것이므로, 대상자가 문항을 충분히 이해하지 못하면 평가 결과에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 현재 임상에서 사용되고 있는 한국어판 음성장애 자기보고식 설문지 11가지(KVHI, KAVI, KVQOL, K-SVHI, K-VAPP, K-VPPC, TVSQ, K-VDCQ, K-VFI, K-VTDS, K-VoiSS)를 선정하여 텍스트 등급 및 복잡도, 어휘 빈도 및 등급, 어휘 다양도의 가독성 분석을 실시하였다. 추가적으로 한국어판과 대응하는 원판 설문지와 아동용 설문지에 대한 가독성 평가를 실시하여 한국어판 성인용 설문지와의 결과 차이를 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 한국어판 성인용 음성장애 설문지는 문해력이 낮은 집단에게 사용하는 것에 어려움이 없을 것으로 밝혀졌다. 평가자는 대상자의 읽기 수준에 따라 평가를 진행해야 하며, 추후 개발 및 수정에도 읽기 난이도를 고려할 필요가 있다.

Statistical Techniques based Computer-aided Diagnosis (CAD) using Texture Feature Analysis: Applied of Cerebral Infarction in Computed Tomography (CT) Images

  • The brain is the body's most organized and controlled organ, and it governs various psychological and mental functions. A brain abnormality could greatly affect one's physical and mental abilities, and consequently one's social life. Brain disorders can be broadly categorized into three main afflictions: stroke, brain tumor, and dementia. Among these, stroke is a common disease that occurs owing to a disorder in blood flow, and it is accompanied by a sudden loss of consciousness and motor paralysis. The main types of strokes are infarction and hemorrhage. The exact diagnosis and early treatment of an infarction are very important for the patient's prognosis and for the determination of the treatment direction. In this study, texture features were analyzed in order to develop a prototype auto-diagnostic system for infarction using computer auto-diagnostic software. The analysis results indicate that of the six parameters measured, the average brightness, average contrast, flatness, and uniformity show a high cognition rate whereas the degree of skewness and entropy show a low cognition rate. On the basis of these results, it was suggested that a digital CT image obtained using the computer auto-diagnostic software can be used to provide valuable information for general CT image auto-detection and diagnosis for pre-reading. This system is highly advantageous because it can achieve early diagnosis of the disease and it can be used as supplementary data in image reading. Further, it is expected to enable accurate medical image detection and reduced diagnostic time in final-reading.

난독증 검사기의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of a Tester for Dyslexia)

  • 난독증자란 의미적인 잘못으로 인하여 읽기능력에 문제를 가진 사람들이다. 국내에서는 난독증에 대한 이해가 부족하여, 난독증자를 검사하는데 있어 외국의 검사도구를 번역하여 사용하고 있다. 그러나 언어는 민족의 문화와 특성에 민감하기 때문에 국내 환자를 검사하기 위해 해외 검사도구를 사용하는 것은 적당하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 한국인 난독증자를 분류하고 분석하기 위한 난독증 검사도구의 모델을 제안한다. 또한, 성능평가를 통하여 구현된 검사도구의 특성들을 보인다.

kMIT를 이용한 비유창성 실어증 환자 음성 언어의 치료효과 연구 (Effects of Continuous Speech Therapy in Patients with Non-fluent Aphasia Using kMIT)

  • Melody intonation therepy (MIT) is to improve the linguistic aspects of the verbal utterance for aphasic patients utilizing the intact right brain. It is applied to the aphasic patients with good comprehension, poor fluency, and little available speech are thought to be ideal candidates. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of Korean Melody intonation therapy (kMIT) in patients with non-fluent aphasia. Five male non-fluent aphasic patients were participated in this study. Average ages were 49.9 years old. Each therapy took 45-50minutes once a week for six months. Aphasic Screen lest (RISS) was used to assess language parameter such as Auditory comprehension, oral expression, reading, writing and calculation ability before and after kMIT. Mean of Length Utterance, verbal intelligibility and articulation disorder were assessed also. Computerized Speech Lab was used to assess the acoustic characteristics of aphasic patients before and after kMIT. The results are as follows : 1) Auditory comprehension, oral expression, reading, writing and calculation ability of the subjects increased after UH'. However, only oral expression showed significant difference (p<0.05). 2) Mean of Length Utterance of five patients generally increased after Un. 3) After kMIT, verbal intelligibility increased and showed significant difference (p<0.05). 4) Misarticulation rate generally decreased after m. 5) Voice Onset Time of the alveolar lenis /t/ and velar lenis /k/ gradually decreased after kMIT. 6) However, intonation pattern were increased gradually in yes'no question after kMIT.

젊은 성인 및 노인 음성장애 환자의 연속발화시 공기역학적 특성 비교 (Aerodynamic Characteristics of Young and Elderly Adult Patients with Voice Disorders during Continuous Speech)

  • 본 연구는 젊은 성인 음성장애 환자 집단과 노인 음성장애 환자 집단을 대상으로 문단낭독시 공기역학적 특성을 비교해보고자 시행되었다. 20-45세의 남성 음성장애 환자 12명과 60세 이상의 남성 음성장애 환자 9명이 연구에 참여하였다. PAS(Phonatory Aerodynamic System)의 Running Speech를 이용하여 문단을 낭독하게 하고 공기역학 측정치를 구하였다. 그 결과 노인집단은 젊은 성인집단보다 더 긴 지속시간과 더 적은 기류량 및 기류체적을 보였다. 그러나 그 차이는 발성지속시간에서만 유의하게 나타났다. 공기역학 측정치는 일반적으로 노인보다 젊은 성인이 모든 측면에서 비정상 소견을 보일 것이라고 예상하지만 본 연구결과 노인집단이 보인 측정치는 발성지속시간을 제외하고 기류량과 기류체적은 젊은 성인집단과 비슷한 수치를 보인것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 노인 음성장애 환자의 연속발화시 공기역학 측정치가 갖는 의미를 해석할 때 기류와 기류체적은 연령뿐 아니라 발화자료, 폐 기능 등 다양한 요건을 함께 고려해야 한다.

주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 아동에서 학습동기증진프로그램 (The Learning Motivation Improvement Program in Children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD))

  • Objectives : Motivational factor is a unique contributor to the typically poor academic performance of children with ADHD. However, few study has directly intervened learning motivation in children with ADHD. We conducted this study to explore the direct effects of the learning motivation improvement program applied to children with ADHD. Method The program was designed in order to increase an interest-inducing educational intervention, an academic skills integration, a basic learning activity (reading, writing, and math), and children's self-esteem. We conducted the program twice a week (total 10 sessions) and assessed learning motivation, teaming attitude, self-esteem, academic performance, and problem behaviors of participating children. Results : After the program, teachers reported improvement in teaming motivation. In addition, parents notified sisnificant reduction of problem behaviors. Children reported improvement in a few domains of teaming motivation and learning attitude. Conclusion : While loaming motivation is regarded as an important factor in education, there have been few studies considering this issue in both educational and psychiatric fields. The teaming motivation improvement would be needed in both field in order to reduce the deficits in academic performance in children with ADHD.

중학교 남·여 학급간 학급 훈육문제의 심각성과 빈도의 차이 (The Difference in Severity and Frequency of Classroom Discipline Problems Between Male and Female Students in Middle School Classrooms)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate various kinds of discipline problems in middle school classrooms, and the differences in severity and frequency of the classroom discipline problems between male and female students' classrooms in middle schools. This study shows that the discipline problems in the middle school classrooms include using a cellular phone, chattering, sleeping, chewing gum, reading comic books, asking useless questions, challenging a teacher, fighting, calling names, skipping class, throwing trash in the classroom, breaking classroom equipment, creating disorder, losing materials, playing with a ball in the classroom, gambling, and so on. Generally, male students recognized the severity of the classroom discipline problems more than the female students. However, it is shown that the frequency of discipline problems in male students' classrooms is higher than that in female students' classrooms. From the results of this study, male students have more active discipline problems (playing with a ball in the classroom, throwing trash in the classroom, coming to class late, gambling, cutting in line, and so on). On the other hand, female students have more passive discipline problems (making a noise by using a cellular phone, asking useless questions, sending messages to a classmate, studying other subjects, scattering, and so on).

  • Developmental language disorder is the most common developmental disability in childhood, occurring in 5-8% of preschool children. Children learn language in early childhood, and later they use language to learn. Children with language disorders are at increased risk for difficulties with reading and written language when they enter school. These problems often persist through adolescence or adulthood. Early intervention may prevent the more serious consequences of later academic problems, including learning disabilities. A child's performance in specific speech and language areas, such as phonological ability, vocabulary comprehension, and grammatical usage, is measured objectively using the most recently standardized, norm-referenced tests for a particular age group. Observation and qualitative analysis of a child's performance supplement objective test results are essential for making a diagnosis and devising a treatment plan. Emphasis on the team approach system in the evaluation of children with speech and language impairments has been increasing. Evidence-based therapeutic interventions with short-term, long-term, and functional outcome goals should be applied, because there are many examples of controversial practices that have not been validated in large, controlled trials. Following treatment intervention, periodic follow-up monitoring by a doctor is also important. In addition, a systematized national health policy for children with speech and language disorders should be provided.

자폐 범주성 장애 아동의 눈맞춤과 얼굴표정읽기 기능향상을 위한 행동 중재용 로봇시스템 (A Robotic System with Behavioral Intervention facilitating Eye Contact and Facial Emotion Recognition of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders)

  • In this paper, we propose and examine the feasibility of the robot-assisted behavioral intervention system so as to strengthen positive response of the children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) for learning social skills. Based on well-known behavioral treatment protocols, the robot offers therapeutic training elements of eye contact and emotion reading respectively in child-robot interaction, and it subsequently accomplishes pre-allocated meaningful acts by estimating the level of children's reactivity from reliable recognition modules, as a coping strategy. Furthermore, for the purpose of labor saving and attracting children's interest, we implemented the robotic stimulation configuration with semi-autonomous actions capable of inducing intimacy and tension to children in instructional trials. From these configurations, by evaluating the ability of recognizing human activity as well as by showing improved reactivity for social training, we verified that the proposed system has some positive effects on social development, targeted for preschoolers who have a high functioning level.
