Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore mother's perception and practice of Taegyo. In addition, belief factors toward Taegyo oriented Korean mother-fetus interaction are identified in order to obtain baseline data for the development of Taegyo oriented program enhancing mother-fetus interaction. Method: The sample consisted to 186 pregnant women who visited public health center or hospital for prenatal care. Self-reporting questionnaire devised by investigator was used. Data were analyzed by SPSS win program and contents analysis was used. Result: Although mothers intended to a pregnancy, many of them were perceived negatively toward pregnancy. The study revealed that most of pregnant women continued cultural practices related to Taegyo, they focused on mother-fetus interaction behavior-such as listen to the music, reading a book, talk to fetus, stroke the fetus- with being altered traditional beliefs toward Taegyo or Taemong. Most of pregnant women had Taemong and believed a it's predictive functions. Beliefs toward mother-fetus interaction were classified to 6 factors, pregnancy, Taemong. fetus, practice behavior, infant's abilities and mother-fetus interaction behavior. The scores of belief toward mother-fetus interaction and each factors of pregnancy, fetus, practice behavior, infant's ability were statistically significant different depending upon husbands education. Also pregnancy factor in belief toward mother-fetus interaction was statistically significant different depending upon the number of children, child birth, experience of abortion, premature birth. Conclusion: Developing Taegyo oriented program enhancing the mother-fetus interaction need to include the elements of being facilitated maternal identity formation and maternal confidence for the pregnant women. In addition, it should be developed the program concerning with the characteristics of the pregnant women.
A secretion signal sequence-selection vector (pGS40) was constructed based on an $\alpha$-amylase gene lacking a secretion signal and employed for selecting secretion signals from Lactococcus lactis ssp. cremoris LM0230 chromosomal DNA. Six fragments were identified based on their ability to restore $\alpha$-amylase secretion in E. coli, and among these, a fragment, S405, conferred the highest secretion activity (84%) in E. coli. Meanwhile, S407, which conferred poor secretion activity in E. coli, was quite active in L. lactis. The results suggested that the efficiency of a secretion signal depended on the host. All six fragments had an open reading frame (ORF) fused to the reporter gene, and the potential Shine-Dalgamo (SD) sequence and putative promoter sequences were located upstream of the ORF. Deduced amino acid sequences from the six fragments did not show any homology with known secretion signals. However, they contained three distinguished structural features and cleavage sites, commonly found among typical secretion signals. The characterized secretion signals could be useful for the construction of food-grade secretion vectors and gene expression in LAB.
This study was carried out qualitative study to figure out the process of the perception of creativity conception by kindergarten teachers in Korea. The interviewees are 4 current teachers in kindergarten in Seoul. Data was collected from semi-structured in-depth interview. Collected data were analyzed using Modified Grounded Theory Approach by Kinoshita, a kind of qualitative research method. As a result of data analysis, kindergarten teachers who experts in child education understood key concepts of creativity as unique thinking and rich expression ability. Such concept is mainly acquired at the class in which direct encounter with children is made. Besides, they formed the concept of creativity through reading books and articles, graduate studies and teaching Nuri Curriculum. In the preceding studies on the concept of creativity targeted to elementary and secondary school teachers, they had shared wide concept, but kindergarten teachers shared only some key concepts on creativity. This result would mean that the concept of creativity in the early children education is relatively coherent and such concept and teaching method are relatively well delivered to children at the education field.
We have web-based online discussion to implement active interaction and a variety of communicative activities. I have gathered the following research questions to study about the meaning of web-based online discussion as a mathematical communication teaching method. First, what changes are there in students mathematical communication ability in web-based online discussion\ulcorner Second, how do students evaluate the web-based online discussion experience\ulcorner In this web-based online discussion, groups of middle school first grade 34 students and each group had chatting at 8 times for 10 weeks. I analyzed what they had discussed by the prints that they had sent me by e-mail. I also surveyed what they had experienced and analyzed them. In this research, the online web based discussion has given positive influence on students' competence of speaking, writing, reading and listening which are crucial to mathematical communication. Students' mathematic thinking power improved and attitudes to mathematics have become more positive.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of general use of English literary works. It will be helpful for both general English learners and college students majoring English Education in ESL or EFL context. English literature is very useful pedagogical tool in the language class due to its unique valuable characteristics including authenticity, cultural and linguistic value, and personal enrichment, which impact on fostering English ability of EFL students. For this reason, it is unavoidable to develop a theory and practice regarding using English literature as an educational resource for college students in Korea. In this study several considerations will be discussed in terms of selection of the literary works to be applied for language learning purpose in the classrooms of universities in Korea. Such attentions will include fours skills of English such as reading, writing, listening and speaking. Finally, some effects and implications of using literary text as a pedagogical tool in the EFL language classrooms will be discussed.

Decaprenyl diphosphate synthase (DPS) is the key enzyme for the production of coenzyme $Q_{10}$ ($CoQ_{10}$). A dps gene from Sinorhizobium meliioti KCCM 11232 (IFO 14782) was isolated by PCR and then cloned in Escherichia coli. DNA sequencing analysis revealed an open reading frame of 1,017 bp encoding a 338-amino-acid protein. The protein was identical at the 98% level to the putative octaprenyl diphosphate synthase (IspB) of S. meliloti 1021. The deduced amino acid sequence included the DDxxD domains conserved in the majority of the prenyl diphosphate synthases. Heterologous expression in E. coli BL21 (DE3) was carried out, and the $CoQ_{10}$ produced was then analyzed by HPLC. E. coli BL21 (DE3) harboring the dps gene from S. melioti produced CoQ$_{10}$ in addition to endogenous coenzyme Q$_8$ (CoQ$_8$), whereas wild-type E. coli BL21 (DE3) host did not have the ability of producing CoQ$_{10}$. The results suggest that the putative dps from S. meliloti KCTC 2353 encoded the DPS.

This study was carried out for the university library to find out a strategy to stand tall as an institution to lead the university, by reflecting the university environment having with drastic environmental changes and reflecting the evolution of information technology. As a result, first, university librarians responded that big issues related to the university library is the University Library Promotion Act, University Library evaluation and assessment indicators, the value of university libraries at the university, and changing spatial composition and functions of the university library. Second, university librarians responded that changes of the university environment, government policy on universities, various national projects, and various university reform policy significantly affect to the university library. Third, about what you think would be helpful to the crisis in their universities as changing role of the library, they responded that they can contribute in terms of improving students' information and technology literacy, improving students' reading skills, improving research capacity, and improve students' learning ability. Fourth, they responded that services that users demand the highest in the university library will be expansion of e-books and information resource.

To ancient Asia people 'to see' was a kind of insight to the object as a whole. Similarily the activity of seeing the human body was the integral part of making diagnosis of a patient. This was the cause that there was suggested the discussion of the Five color theory in Oriental Medicine as a counterpart to that of the 'Goethe for Zur Farbenlehrer'. The inspection of Oriental Medicine was not a simple gazing of the eye as a sense organ, but the total insight to the internal state of the patient. For that reason, the eye-perception in early Chinese medicine was the reading the signs of the internal body which had have not the visual form but the flux of the internal life.

This paper determined students' ranks of difficulty on the use of materials in terms of 1) understanding the layout of the learning materials, 2) reading comprehension of the learning materials, and 3) realization on relevance to needs of the learning materials. It also determined students' 4) rank and frequency of attitude on the materials. With the data gathered through 128 survey questionnaires, 7 focused group discussions, and 10 interviews, the results were found out that there was an inappropriate assessment procedure set by this particular university. The researcher concludes that: 1) design of four types of classes by just using the two textbooks with their respective workbooks is grammar-based with limited conversation activities; 2) placement for these students in one big class size was implemented without considering their common interest and motivation and language levels; and, 3) qualification of teachers teaching these EFL students did not support students' real needs and the language program itself. Content professors who were made to teach may have the ability to input learning, but their teaching styles may differ from the ones who are real English teachers. This paper then recommends that teachers and school administration should have an appropriate placement exam before students attend the class, especially in a big class size. There could only be a few problems among students in one big class size when students' level of competence is proportioned. With this, topics and conversation activities can even be more flexible with the maneuver of art of questioning, various dimensions of thinking, strategic competence, learning attitude or behavior, etc. to ensure sustenance of communicative mode and level of interest and motivation in the classroom. Grammar-based instruction can only be taught when a need arises. Thus, the course description of each class will be able to transact the objectives ready for developing students' communication competence. Moreover, proper measurement can be utilized to validly assess the amount of students' learning and the progress of language curriculum design in terms of materials selection and teaching approach.

Korean students ranked the 3rd out of 32 participating countries in the first cycle of PISA(Programme for International Student Assessment) science field, which assessed 15-years-old students' scientific literacy. PISA developed several variables such as parents' socio-economic status, parents' educational attainment, family wealth, and cultural possession, to investigate the effects of background variables on scientific literacy. On the other hand, motivation and engagement in science study were not given much attention, partly because science was the minor area in the first cycle of PISA. Therefore, PISA Korea developed a series of variables to collect data on students' learning motives and out-of-school activities in science as a national option. The results are as followings. First, Korea was found to be one of the PISA participating countries with the scientific literacy achievement least influenced by parents' socio-economic status, family wealth, and parents' cultural possession. Second, the degree of achievement in scientific literacy according to parents' educational attainment was in a positive correlation, similar to the overall tendency of PISA. Third, the most crucial learning motive for Korean students was their desire to develop scientific thinking abilities or obtain science knowledge. On the other hand, choosing jobs in the field of science or parental expectation was the least important learning motive. In particular, the motive for scientific learning was found to have a positive relationship with the degree of scientific literacy achievement. Therefore, the higher the students achievement, the stronger the motive for scientific learning in order to develop their ability to think scientifically or acquire science knowledge. Fourth, Korean students were shown to participate very little in out-of-school scientific activities other than watching TV programs related to science. Whatever the activities may be, the more actively involved students are in out-of-school scientific activities, the higher their scientific literacy achievement. Fifth, Korean girls were rather passive compared to boys in all areas, including science learning motive and out-of-school scientific activities. The gender difference was especially more pronounced in out-of-school scientific activities with wider gaps in such activities as reading scientific books or articles and visiting science-related web sites.
