  • The dynamic characteristics of a continuous MMA/MA free-radical solution copolymerization reactor were studied. A mathematical model was developed and kinetic parameters which had been estimated in the previous work were used. With this model, bifurcation diagrams were constructed with various parameters as the bifurcation parameter to predict the region of stable operating conditions and to enhance the controller performance. It was shown that the steady-state multiplicity existed over wide ranges of residence time and jacket inlet temperature. Periodic solution branches were found to emanated from Hopf bifurcation points. Under certain conditions isola was also observed, which would result in poor performance of feedback controllers.

  • Mathematical modeling equations of a parallel plate type reactor were obtained in the PECVD process in preparing hydrogenated amorphous silicon. Velocity profiles, temperature profiles and concentration profiles in the reactor were calculated from the model. The theoretical approach was attempted to obtain the deposition rate and film uniformity at different operating conditions by calculating RF discharge parameters and establishing the reaction mechanisms of a-Si:H thin film. The modelling equations are solved by a finite difference method with control volume balance. The mean electrom energy in discharge was applied to model simulation parameter. The magnitudes of the predicted deposition rate are in good aggrement with those of experiment. The results of computer simulation shows that uniform deposition profiles can.

  • Nuclear power plants are equipped with the reactor trip system (RTS) and the engineered safety features actuation system (ESFAS) to improve safety on the normal operation. In the event of the design basis accident (DBA), a various of post accident monitor(PAM)systems support to provide important details (e.g. Containment pressure, temperature and pressure of reactor cooling system and core exit temperature) to determine action of main control room (MCR). Operator should be immediately activated for the accident mitigation with the information. Especially, core exit temperature is a critical parameter because the operating mode converts from normal mode to emergency mode when the temperature of core exit reaches $649^{\circ}C$. In this study, uncertainty which was caused by exterior environment, characteristic of thermocouple/connector and accuracy of calibrator/indicator was evaluated in accordance with ANSI-ISA 67.04. The square root of the sum of square (SRSS) methodology for combining uncertainty terms that are random and independent was used in the synthesis. Every uncertainty that may exist in the hardware which is used to measure the core exit temperature was conservatively applied and the associative relation between the elements of uncertainty was considered simultaneously. As a result of uncertainty evaluation, the channel statistical allowance (CSA) of single channel of core exit temperature was +1.042%Span. The range of uncertainty, -0.35%Span ($-4.05^{\circ}C$) ~ +2.08%Span($24.25^{\circ}C$), was obtained as the operating criteria of core exit temperature.

  • It is of great importance to predict operating parameter characteristics of an integrated fuel processor by the increased life-time and system performance. In this study, computational analysis is performed to gain fundamental insights on transport phenomena and chemical reactions in reformer which consists of preheating, steam reforming, and water gas shift reaction beds. Also, a top-fired burner locates inside of the reforming system. The combustor is providing thermal energy necessary for the steam reforming bed which is a endothermic catalytic reactor. Two-dimensional numerical model of the integrated fuel processing system is introduced for the analysis of heat and mass transport phenomena as well as surface kinetics and catalytic process. A kinetic model was developed and then computational results were compared with the experimental data available in the literature. Subsequently, parameter study using the validated steam methane reforming model was conducted by considering operating parameters, i.e. steam to carbon ratio and temperature.

  • Fire protection is one of important issues to ensure safety and reduce risks of nuclear power plants (NPPs). While robust programs to shut down commercial reactors in any fires have been successfully maintained, the concept and associated regulatory requirements are constantly changing or strengthening by lessons learned from operating experiences and information all over the world. As part of this context, it is necessary not only to establish specific fire hazard assessment methods reflecting the characteristics of research reactors and educational reactors but also to make decisions based on advancement encompassing numerical analyses and experiments. The objectives of this study are to address fire simulation in the control room of an educational reactor and to discuss integrity of digital console in charge of main operation as well as analysis results through comparison. Three electrical fire scenarios were postulated and twenty-four thermal analyses were carried out taking into account two turbulence models, two cable materials and two ventilation conditions. Twelve supplementary thermal analyses and six subsequent structural analyses were also conducted for further examination on the temperature and heat flux of cable and von Mises stress of digital console, respectively. As consequences, effects of each parameter were quantified in detail and future applicability was briefly discussed. On the whole, higher profiles were obtained when Deardorff turbulence model was employed or polyvinyl chloride material and larger ventilation condition were considered. All the maximum values considered in this study met the allowable criteria so that safety action seems available by sustained integrity of the cable linked to digital console within operators' reaction time of 300 s.

  • The present study prepared molybdenum trioxide ($MoO_3$), the most important intermediate of molybdenum metal, by using a fluidized bed reactor for the thermal decomposition of ammonium molybdate (AM) in the presence of an air flow. During the process of fluidizing the sample inside the reactor, the reaction time and temperature were optimized with a close analysis of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) data and with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In particular, the temperature level, at which the AM decomposition is completed, is very important as a primary operating parameter. The analysis of the XRD and TGA data showed that the AM decomposition is almost completed at ${\sim}350^{\circ}C$ with a reaction time of 30 min. A shorter reaction time of 10 min. required a higher reaction temperature of ${\sim}500^{\circ}C$ with the same air flow rate to complete the AM decomposition. A sharp rise in the decomposition efficiency at a temperature ranging between 320 and $350^{\circ}C$ indicated a threshold for the AM decomposition. The operating conditions determined in this study can be used for future scale-ups of the process.

  • Because explosive fluid is used at high temperature or under high pressure in petrochemistry and refined oil equipment, the interest about safety of equipments is intensive. Specially, the safety of high pressure reactor vessel is required among them. The material selected in this study is 2.25Cr-1Mo steel that is widely used for high pressure reactor vessel material of petrochemical plant. Eight kinds of artificially aged specimens were prepared by differing from aging periods under three different temperatures. The material was iso-thermally heat treated at higher temperatures than $391^{\circ}C$ that is the operating temperature of high pressure reactor vessel. Vickers hardness properties and electrical resistivity properties about artificially aged material as well as un-aged material were measured, and master curves were made out from the correlation with larson-Miller parameter. And electrical resistivity properties as well as Victors hardness properties measured at high pressure reactor vessel of the field were compared with master curves made out in a laboratory. Degradation evaluation possibility in the field of high pressure reactor vessel by using electrical resistivity method was examined. Electrical resistivity property measured in the field is similar with that of artificially aged material in similar aging level.

  • The space reactor is the primary energy supply for future space vehicles and space stations. The radiator is one of the essential parts of a space reactor. Therefore, the research on radiators can improve the heat dissipation power, reduce the quality of radiators, and make the space reactor smaller. Based on MOOSE multi-physics numerical calculation platform, a simulation program for the combination of heat pipe and fin at the end of heat pipe radiator is developed. It is verified that the calculation result of this program is accurate and the calculation speed is fast. Analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the combination with heat pipe and fin, and obtain its internal temperature field. Based on the calculation results, the influence of structural parameters on the heat dissipation power is analyzed. The results show that when the fin width is 0.25 m, fin thickness is 0.002 m, condensing section length is 0.5425 m and heat pipe radius is 0.014 m, the power-mass ratio is the highest. When the temperature is 700K-900K, the heat dissipation power increases 41.12% for every 100K increase in the operating temperature. Smaller fin width and thinner fin thickness can improve the power-mass ratio and reduce the radiator quality.

  • This paper proposes a Push type High Frequency DC-DC Converter using Zero Voltage Switching to reduce turn on and off loss at the switching instants. This paper has a advantage which is able to operating safely in load short, because DC reactor is connected with resonance reactor in order to supply a fixed safely in load short, because DC reactor is connected with resonance reactor in order to supply a fixed current with low ripple from DC power supply. The capacitor $(C_1, C_2)$ connected in switch are a common using as resonance capacitor and ZVS capacitor. The analysis of the proposed high frequency resonance DC-DC converter is generally described by using normallized parameter, and we has evaluated characteristic values which is needed to design a circuit. We conform a rightfulness of theoritical analysis by comparing a theoretical values and experimental values obtained from experiment using MOSFET as switching devices.
