Kinetics of Drying Shiitake Mushroom, Lentinus edodes sanryun No. 1 (표고버섯의 열풍건조속도론(熱風乾燥速度論)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • Dehydration phenomena has been studied for the shiitake mushroom Lentinus edodes sanryun No.1, through which examine the effect of temperature and air velocity and derivation of its kinetics. Temperature effect for the dehydration rate constant were examined under the constant air velocity (1.5m/sec) with the variation of temperature from $40^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$. Water content were reduced exponentially with the course of time and calculated dehydration rate constant values varies with temperature with an Arrhenius-type relationship, which had been expected in the chemical reaction kinetics. Influence of air velocity for the dehydration rate constant under the constant temperature $(45^{\circ}C)$ showed interesting results. For the range 1.0m/sec to 2.0m/sec, dehydration rate constant values are increased with the air velocity, but for the 2.0 to 3.1m/sec, dehydration rate constant values are decreased which were caused by case hardening. One of the selected conditions in the optimal dehydration range, temperature $50^{\circ}C$, air velocity 2m/see, and its measured humidity 38-41%, mathematical model of dehydration curve and dehydration rate equations were developed and the resulting kinetic models were X=6.94 $e^{-0.345t}$ and dx/dt = -2.39 $e^{-0.345t}$

  • Production of inulo-oligosaccharides from inulin was carried out with the maximum yield of 94% using a purified endoinulinase from Aspergillus ficcum. The optimum reaction temperature and pH were 55-60$^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.5-6.0, respectively. The Michaelis constant and maximum reaction velocity of the endoinuinase for inulin were 13.27 g/L and 0.13 g/L$.$min at 55$^{\circ}C$, pH 5.5, respectively. Inulin source had no significant effect on oligosaccharide yield and product composition, although initial production rate differed according to inulin origins. The reaction pH was a critical factor in inulo-oligosaccharide production because considerable free monosaccharides were released, decreasing oligosaccharide yield at low pH conditions. An empirical relationship describing the reaction performance was developed from kinetic data: the time to reach maximum oligosaccharide yield (tw) as a function of initial concentration of inulin (lo) and enzyme (Eo); i.e., log tM = -1.025 log Eo - 0.011 l0 + 2.655.

  • Objectives : We find that the reaction force on the elbow joint during elbow flexion, extension with and without an object in the hand can be calculated the equations of motion that the sum of the torque and the sum of the force acting on the elbow joint must be zero and (moment of inertia x angular acceleration) and (mass x acceleration). Methods : we have calculated the equations of motion (${\Sigma}F=0$, ${\Sigma}{\tau}=0$, ${\Sigma}F=ma$, ${\Sigma}{\tau}=Ia$) to investigate the reaction force on the elbow joint during elbow flexion, extension by means of the simplified free-body technique for coplanar forces. Results : we found that the reaction force on the elbow joint during elbow flexion, extention as constant acceleration motion is more than constant velocity, static motion. Also, we found that the relation between during flexion and during extension like this ; $J_{flexion}$ < $J_{extension}$.

Evaluation of Soil Improvement by Carbonate Precipitation with Urease (요소분해효소에 의한 탄산칼슘 침전을 통한 지반 개량 평가)

  • This study presents the experimental results of $CaCO_3$ formation in sand by the Enzyme Induced Carbonate Precipitation (EICP) method. Concentration of $CaCO_3$ with elapsed reaction time is calibrated by standardized procedure by measuring $CO_2$ pressure, and it increases with time towards asymptotic value. Jumunjin sand saturated with EICP solution shows that both shear wave velocity and electrical conductivity sharply increase as the reaction starts to approach to the constant values after 50 hours of reaction time. Urease concentration of 0.5 g/L exhibits 224% higher final shear wave velocity than that of 0.1 g/L. The nucleation models hint that carbonate tends to precipitate not only at grain contacts but also at grain surfaces. Regardless of urease concentration, electrical conductivity and shear wave velocity follow the unique path. The scanning electron microscopic images and X-ray computed tomographic images validate the spatial configuration of produced $CaCO_3$ in soils.

  • Simultaneous measurements of velocity and OH distribution were made using particle image velocimetry(PIV) and planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF) of OH radical in turbulent hydrogen nonpremixed flames with coaxial air. The OH radical was used as an approximate indicator of chemical reaction zone. The OH layer was correlated well with the stoichiometric velocity, $U_s$, instantaneously and on average. In addition, high strain-rate regions almost coincide with the OH distribution. The residence time in flame surface, calculated from the root-mean-square value of the radial velocity, is proportional to $(x/d_F)^{0.7}$. It is found that the mean value of principal strain rate on the OH layer can be scaled with $(x/d_F)^{-0.7}$ and therefore, the product of the residence time and the mean strain rate remains constant over all axial positions.

  • The present study was conducted to investigate the flame instability(evaluated by Markstein length and cellular instability) and laminar burning velocity in a constant volume combustion chamber at room temperature and elevated pressure up to 0.3 MPa to suggest the possibility of utilizing mixtures of syngas added DME-air premixed flames in internal combustion engines. The experimentally measured laminar burning velocities were compared to predictions calculated the PREMIX code with Zhao reaction mechanism. Discussions were made on effects of syngas addition into DME-Air premixed flames through evaluating laminar burning velocity, Markstein length, and cellular instability. Particular concerns are focused on cellular instability caused by hydrodynamic instability and diffusive-thermal instability.

  • This article describes a comparison on laminar burning velocity measured by Bunsen and spherical flame methods of synthetic natural gas (SNG) with various composition of hydrogen. In this study, the laminar burning velocity measurements were employed by Bunsen burner and cylindrical constant combustor at which flame images were captured by Schlieren system. These results were also compared with numerical based on CHEMKIN package with GRI 3.0, USC-II and UC Sandiego mechanism. In case of spherical flames, the suitable flame radius range and theoretical models were verified using the well-known previous results in methane/air flames. As an experimental condition, hydrogen content of SNG was adjusted 0% to 11%. Equivalence ratios of Bunsen flames were adjusted from 0.8 to 1.6. On the other hand, those of spherical flames were adjusted from 0.6 to 1.4, relatively. From results of this study, the both laminar burning velocities measured in Bunsen and spherical flame methods were resulted in similar tendency. As the hydrogen content increased, the laminar burning velocity also increased collectively. Laminar burning velocity of measured SNG-air flames was best coincided with GRI 3.0 mechanism by comparison of reaction mechanisms.

  • This study was conducted to supply basic informations on development of water treatment process for the ozonation of ammonia depend on pH variation with or without bromide catalysis. The results were as follows: The oxidation rate of ammonia increased depend on pH increase at ozone/bromide process. It was found that overall kinetics was zero order with respect to reaction time and reaction velocity constant of zero order increased depend on pH increase from 4.9 to 9.5 and the equation of linearization was $k_{o}$ = 0.00565 ${\times}$ [pH] + 0.0069 at ozone/bromide process. The denitrification reaction of ammonia was superior as the pH increase in the presence of bromide.

  • Effervescent tablets generate gas bubbles when chemical reaction occurs between water and tablets. Most of previous studies have been focused on pharmaceutical characteristics of tablets. However, for their applications in disinfectants, cleaners, and pesticides, physical characteristics of bubbles released from the effervescent tablets when they are in water are important. In this study, we experimentally investigated the characteristics of microbubbles generated by an effervescent tablet made of sodium bicarbonate and tartaric acid using PDPA and high-speed camera. Microbubbles were generated using different weights of effervescent tablet as well as in different water temperature. The experimental study shows increase in reaction time, bubble concentration and rise velocity as the weight of effervescent tablet increases from 1 to 20 g. The decrease in average bubble diameter was observed when the temperature of water increased from 25 to 45 ℃. Further, reaction time varies inversely with increase in water temperature, while bubble rise velocity is directly proportional to increase in water temperature. Effervescent table continuously generates the bubble with approximately constant diameter (235 ㎛) in the water. However, bubble concentration and bubble rise velocity decreased over time.

  • In this paper, biomechanical aspects of dynamic대학교postural responses against forward perturbations were experimentally determined simultaneous measurements of joint angles, accelerations. EMG activations, center of pressure(CoP) movements and ground reaction forces(GRF), Thirteen young healthy volunteers, stood on a flat platform, were translated into the forward direction by an AC servo-motor at two separate velocities(0.1m and 0.2m/s). In order to recover postural balance against the forward perturbation, joint motions were observed in the sequence of the ankle dorsiflexion, the knee flexion and then the hip flexion during the later acceleration phase. Both acceleration patterns at the heel and the sacrum were shown the forward acceleration pattern during the later acceleration phase and early of constant velocity phase as increasing platform velocity, respectively. Tibialis anterior(TA) for the ankle dorsiflexion and biceps femoris(BF) for the knee flexion. the primary muscle to recover the forward perturbation, was activated during the half of acceleration phase. Ankle strategy was used for slow-velocity perturbation, but mixed strategy of both ankle and hip used for the fast-velocity perturbation. In addition, parameters of perturbation such as timing and magnitude influenced the postural response against the perturbation.
