Accuracy of AUSM-type schemes is closely related to a speed of in a cell-interface. Effect to accuracy by a speed of sound invastigated in the region of subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flows repectively. The advantage of the speed of sound in AUSMPW+ are summerized as the improvement of accuracy in capturing an oblique shock and the removal of an expansion shock to satisfy the entropy condition. They are proven by mathmatics and numerical result. Moreover AUSMPW+ is extended to a real gas flow and the speed of sound for equilibrium and nonequilibrium gas which could give exact soultions in an oblique shock is proposed.
We modeled fish school movements as a capture process in relation to the purse seine method using the three steps of the stimulus-response process (i.e., input stimuli, central decision-making and output reaction). Input stimuli of the model were categorized as either physical stimuli such as visual stimulus, sound stimulus, water flow, and weather or as biological stimuli such as species and size, swimming performance, sensual sensitivity, and presence of prey or predators. The output process determining the spatial orientation of the fish school for 3-D movements was based on swimming speed and angular change in the fish response, and these movements were animated as the relative geometry between the fish school and the purse seine. Simulations were carried out for skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) schools reacting to a pelagic purse seine in the southwest Pacific Ocean. Simulation results showed that escape ratios varied from 20 to 70% by the relevant ranges in the stimulus-response thresholds, swimming speeds, and angular changes of fish schools were similar to those observed in the field. Therefore, with knowledge of relevant parameters, this model can be used to predict capture and escape probabilities of purse seine operations for different fish species or conditions.
The surface of rutile titania nanoparticles was chemically modified by reacting with alkoxy silane. The surface and rheological properties in silicone oil having a wide range of viscosity were investigated. Total surface free energy($\gamma_S$) of the titania particles decreased from 53.12 to 26.94 mJ/$m^2$ as the silane used for surface treatment was increased from 0 to 5.0 wt$\%$. The surface free energy of neat silane was 25.5 mJ/$m^2$, which is quite close to that oftitania particles treated with 5.0 wt$\%$ silane. Due to the hydrophobic nature oftreated-titania, the contact angle was accordingly higher for polar solvent in the order of water>ethylene glycol> formamide>$\alpha$-bromonaphthalene. In sum of rheological behavior, as the applied shear stress or viscosity of the silicone oil increased, the titania particles tend to form layers and agglomerated clusters, showing shear-thinning and shear-thickening behaviors, sequentially. A good dispersion of discrete titania particles obeying a Newtonian flow behavior was achieved at a surface energy or low concentration of silane-treated titania particles in hydrophobic silicone oil.

It is confirmed that the ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) thin films can be etched by low-temperature plasma at atmospheric pressure. The etching happened deepest at a hydrogen flow rate of 4 sccm, and the etch rate was 120 /min. The etching speed corresponded to the H$\alpha$* emission intensity The etching mechanism of the ITO thin films is as follows; thin films were reduced by H$\alpha$*, and the metal compound residues were detached from the substrate by reacting on the CH* The etching was started after etching time of initial 50 sec and above the threshold temperature of 145$^{\circ}C$. The activation energy of 0.16 eV(3.75 Kcal/mole) was obtained from the Arrehenius plots.

This work is for the design study of natural gas reformer (40 $m^3/hr$ over). We used experimental kinetic data from literature. After that, we set up theoretical model based on experimental reaction kinetic data. The shape of reactor is 1.7 m long and 200 mm dia. with cylinder geometry. Volume of reactor is 53.4 liter. Average flow velocity of gases in the reactor has been determined 0.272 m/sec and residence time is 9.26 sec. Reaction temperature is $850^{\circ}C$, with pressure 9.3 Bar. Used natural gas volume is about 9.21 $m^3/hr$. Produced hydrogen is 43.7 $m^3/hr$ with no change of pressure. Unreacted natural gas is 0.09 $m^3/hr$ and the amount of steam is 26.9 $m^3/hr$. Steam to $CH_4$ (s/c ratio) is 2.91. Reforming reaction take place from the reactor entrance to 120 cm region of cylinder type reactor. After the entrance of reacting gases to 120 cm region, the reaction reaches equilibrium which is close to products. This study can be applicable to design various reactors. Output data is in good agreements with the data in literatures1).
As fuel cell system is environmental friendly generator, its performance depends on its air supply system. Because, fuel cell stack generates electrical energy by electron and the electron is generated by reacting between air and hydrogen. So, more and more compressed air is supplied, more and more the energy can be obtained. In this study, turbo-expander supported by air foil bearing is introduced as the air supply system used by fuel cell systems. The turbo-expander is a turbo machine which operates at high speed, so air foil bearings suit its purpose for the bearing elements. Analysis for confirming the stability and endurance is conducted. Based on FDM and Newton-Raphson method, characteristics of air foil bearing, dynamic coefficients, pressure field and load capacity, are obtained. Using the characteristics of air foil bearing, the rotordynamic analysis is performed by finite element method. The analysis (stability analysis and critical speed map) shows that turbo-expander is stability at running speed. After the analysis, the test process and results are presented. The goals of test are running up to 90,000 RPM, flow rate of 150 $m^3/h$ and pressure ratio of 1.15. The test results show that the aerodynamic performance and stability of turbo-expander are satisfied to the primary goals.

WSGGM based low-resolution spectral model for calculating radiation transfer in combustion gases is applied to estimate self-absorption of radiation energy in one-dimensional opposed flow flames. Development of such a model is necessary in order to enable detailed chemistry-radiation interaction calculations including self-absorption. Database of band model parameters which can be applied to various one-dimensional opposed flow diffusion and partially premixed flames is created. For the validation of the model and database, low resolution spectral intensities at fuel exit side are calculated and compared with the results of a narrow band model with those based on the Curtis-Godson approximation. Good agreements have been found between them. The resulting radiation model is coupled to the OPPDIF code to calculate the self-absorption of radiant energy and compared with the results of an optically thin calculation and the results of a discrete ordinates method in conjunction with the statistical narrow band model. Significant self-absorption of radiation is found for the flames considered here particularly for the fuel side of the reacting zone. However, the self-absorption does not have significant effects on the flame structure in this case. Even in the case of the low velocity diffusion flame and the partially premixed flame of low equivalence ratio, the effects of self-absorption of radiation on the flame temperature and production of minor species are not significant.
The effects were examined from several conditions of $TiO_2$ photocatalysis reaction to phenols degradation by changing it's reacting conditions such as phenol concentration, pH, $TiO_2$ concentration, $H_2O_2$ concentration, flow rate, and intensity of ultraviolet rays. Phenol degradation was more efficient in low concentration of phenol, neutral pH. Phenol degradation appeared to increase as concentration of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst, that of $H_2O_2$ and intensity of ultraviolet rays increased. As $TiO_2$ dosage increased, initial rate constant k linearly increased. When $H_2O_2$ was injected more than optimum, phenol removal rate didn't increase in proportional to the change of $H_2O_2$ concentration as OH radicals was being consumed. When flow rate is less than $4.75m^3/m^2$ day, phenol removal efficiency appeared to decrease as ultraviolet rays transmission rate becomes low by $TiO_2$ suspension coated in photo reaction column. Meanwhile, initial rate constant according to light intensity change in less than $25mW/cm^2$ appeared to be in proportion to light intensity ($mW/cm^2$) Removal efficiency decreased about 12% after 180 minutes of reaction time while showed stable removal efficiency of 100% after 300 minutes when using regenerated $TiO_2$.

A computer program is developed for the prediction of NO generation by the addition of water moisture and water electrolysis gas in LNG-fired turbulent reacting flow. This study is the first part to deal with the moisture effect on NO generation. In this study, parametric investigation has been made in order to see the reduction of thermal NO as a function of amount of moisture content in a LNG-fired flame together with the swirl and radiation effect. First of all, calculation results show that the flame separation together with the NO concentration separation are observed by the typical flow separation due to strong swirl flow. With a fixed amount of air, the increased amount of water moisture from 0 to 10% by 2% interval shows the decrease of NO concentration and flame temperature at exit are from $973^{\circ}C$ and 139 ppm to $852^{\circ}C$ and 71 ppm. The radiation effects on the generation on NO appears more dominant than swirl strength over the range employed in this study. However, for the strong swirl flow employed in this study, the flow separation cause the relatively high NO concentration observed near exit after peak concentration in the front side of the combustor.

Escape behaviour of the anchovy (Engralius japonica, total length 4-7cm) at the inside wing net and bag net in the anchovy boat seine was observed by underwater video camera in order to clarify the relationship between visual stimulus of the gear or relative water flow inside gear and reacting behaviour. The vertical attenuation coefficient of underwater illuminance in the offshore of Keoje island and Tongyoung was ranged from 0.24 to 1.03 and it could be affect visual range and visual contrast of the fishing gear. The relative water flow at the joint part between inside wing and bagnet while towing was 1.5 times higher than at the middle part of inside wing or fore part of bag net, but it was estimated under than maximum swimming speed of 4-7 cm anchovy. The mean escaping number of anchovy from end part of inside wing of 30 cm mesh to out side for a minute within visual range of video camera was 455 and anchovy swimming forward from bag net through flapper was 308. These results revealed anchovy could escape as voluntary response in spite of higher visual stimulus or higher water flow.
