AN EVALUATION OF RADIATION DOSES RESULTING FROM THE MEDICAL USE OF HIGH-ENERGY BETA-RAY SOURCES

  • Calculational models to evaluate radiation doses resulting from the medical use of high energy beta-ray sources are presented. The radioactive sources considered are Sr-90/Y-90 used as ophthalmic applicator, Re-188 used for treating restenosis of coronary artery, and Ho-166 used for treating hepatic tumors. Typical therapeutic situations which might induce relatively high radiation doses the medical person involved were considered to compute by using MCNP-4C Monte Carlo code the radiation doses. The calculation results suggest that for all of the cases considered, the evaluated radiation doses are negligible compared to the dose limits. It is also found that the effect of Bremsstrahlung radiations on the total dose is insignificant, and hence the conventional lead gown is also effective in shielding beta-rays.

신경망을 이용한 원격탐사자료의 군집화 기법 연구 (Study on Application of Neural Network for Unsupervised Training of Remote Sensing Data)

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 많은 분야데서 패턴인식을 위한 효과적인 기법으로 이용되고 있는 신경망 기법을 원격탐사자료의 군집화 기법으로서 적용하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선택된 신경망 모델은 경쟁학습 신경망이며 이를 구성하는 각종 변수들을 재구성하여 원격탐사자료의 군집화를 위한 신경망모델을 설정하였다. 본 신경망을 이용한 군집화 기법은 항공기를 이용하여 획득된 원격탐사자료를 이용하여 순차적(sequential)군집화 기법 K 평균 군집화 기법과 비교되었다. 계산시간은 순차적 기법이나 K 평균기법에 비하여 더 많이 소요되나 정확도면에 있어서는 비교적 우수한 결과를 나타냈다.

Beta-spectra for the Radionuclides in Medicine

  • Beta-particle energy distributions of the radionuclides in medicine are calculated for the medical physics applications. The radial component solutions of Dirac wave equations are evaluated for a point-nucleus un screened Coulomb potential. The WKB method is employed to correct the screening due to the orbital-electron cloud. Fierz interference terms are ignored. The radionuclides considered are $\^$32/P, $\^$90/Y, $\^$131/I, $\^$166/Ho, $\^$192/Ir, $\^$198/Au, $\^$153/Sm, $\^$169/Er and $\^$188/Re. A total of 9 beta-spectra for the radionuclides, currently in domestic use or potential use in the near future, are calculated with enough accuracy and presented in graphs and tables.

  • GIS provides the various analyzing and displaying using diverse spatial data have supported the powerful functionality and friendly user-interface. But, early GIS software is developed as package tool, it have many difficulties with reducing the cost of developing GPS application and satisfying the various user requirements. At present, the developed GPS applications across multiple domains, despite the common features are built separately for each domain in terms of software engineering development followed out waste of time and money expenditure. However, common features between GPS applications, if deployed as a component assembly and reuse components in terms of enabling the two kinds of component-based development can bring out the beneficial results. In this paper, we described the Analysis and design of GPS ApplicationsS based on Component. Each GPS component is composed of many objects accomplish the atomic service processing and cooperate with each other. And, GPS components meets the qualifications of thc low cost of developing GPS application because of the reusability and re-composition.

  • Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) strains responsible for recent outbreaks in the United States have been occurring in Mainland Korea since late 2013. Over the past 10 years, PEDV outbreaks have not been reported on Jeju Island. However, in late March of 2014, PEDV re-emerged on Jeju Island and was found to be genetically identical to PEDV strains currently circulating in Mainland Korea. The present study was conducted to provide a better understanding of the epidemiology of PEDV and more effective preventive measures against PED.

  • Tissue hyperplasia is one of the most frequently encountered complications when self-expanding metallic stents are placed in benign non-vascular luminal organ strictures, thus causing restenosis of the lumen. The investigators postulated that ionizing irradiation could be applied to prevent restenosis caused by tissue hyperplasia in non-vascular luminal organs as it reduced coronary or peripheral arterial narrowing successfully. The authors combined $\beta$-irradiation using $^{188}Re-MAG_3$ solution with balloon dilation for animal and clinical studies because this new treatment approach had the advantages such as low penetration depth of $\beta$-ray, self-centering irradiation, and mechanical effect of balloon dilation over using $\gamma$-irradiation with afterloading devices in this article, the concept and mechanism of radioisotope balloon dilation, and animal and clinical studies using radioisotope balloon dilation are reviewed.

  • For a given p-valent analytic function g with positive coefficients in the open unit disk $\Delta$, we study a class of functions $f(z) = z^p - \sum\limits{_{n=m}}{^\infty} a_nz^n(a_n{\geq}0)$ satisfying $$\frac 1 {p}{\Re}\;(\frac {z(f*g)'(z)} {(f*g)(z)})\;>\;\alpha\;(0{\leq}\;\alpha\;<\;1;z{\in}{\Delta})$$ Coefficient inequalities, distortion and covering theorems, as well as closure theorems are determined. The results obtained extend several known results as special cases.

발달장애 부모의 심리운동센터 선택 시 동기, 만족도, 재이용 의사의 관계 (Relationship between motivation, satisfaction, and re-use intention when selecting a psychomotor center for parents with developmental disabilities)

  • 본 연구는 발달장애 아동의 심리운동센터 이용 부모의 선택 동기, 만족도, 재이용 의사의 관계를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재의 사설 심리운동센터에서 심리운동프로그램에 참여하고 있는 아동의 부모를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 188부이며, 서술통계, 요인분석과 신뢰도분석 그리고 상관분석과 회귀분석을 통하여 인과관계를 검증하였다. 분석 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 발달장애 아동의 심리운동 참여에 대한 부모님의 선택동기와 만족도 관계에서 하위요인인 이용만족은 즐거움과 사교요인, 성과만족에서는 사교, 건강과 체력요인에서 유의미한 영향력을 나타내었다. 둘째, 선택 동기와 재이용 의사의 관계에서 즐거움, 기술발달 및 성취감, 사교요인에서 유의미한 영향력을 나타내었다. 셋째, 만족도와 재이용 의사의 관계에서 이용만족과 성과만족 요인에서 재이용 의사를 유의미하게 설명하였다. 향후 심리운동센터 재이용률을 높이기 위해 본 연구의 측정변인 외에 추가적인 분석이 필요하다고 판단된다.

Observation of Several Detection Factors Derived from Thermoluminescence of Mineral Separated from Irradiated Korean Sesame and Perilla Seeds Stored under Different Storage Conditions

  • This study was carried out to observe changes in several detection factors derived from thermoluminescence (TL) of minerals separated from irradiated Korean perilla and sesame seeds during storage under normal room and darkroom conditions. The TL intensities of the first glow curves increased from 0 to 5 kGy but only slightly increase from 5 to 10 kGy. Maximum TL temperatures of the first glow curves in all irradiated samples were around 20$0^{\circ}C$, ranging from 150 to 25$0^{\circ}C$. Since the control (0 day of storage) glow curve ratios of G3 and G4, calculated from re-irradiated (1 kGy) sample were over 0.5, detection of irradiation was possible. However, because Gl ratios were below 0.1, they were classified as non-irradiated. There was n unique first glow curve shape that could be clearly seen in all irradiated samples, regardless of storage conditions, that was never seen in non-irradiated samples. In all samples, the maximum TL temperatures and shape of the second glow curve was in a lower temperature range than that of the first glow curve. Therefore, detection of irradiated Korean perilla and sesame seeds was possible fur up to 3 months after irradiation, regardless of storage conditions, by examining several TL detection factors; including TL intensity, glow curve ratios maximum TL temperatures, and the shapes of glow curves.
