  • The trend of Digital x-ray Detector research is to improve resolution of image and to embody large area imaging as well as dynamic moving imaging, etc. This research is divided with indirect conversion method and direct conversion method by radiation conversion process. Each conversion method has problems such as decrease of resolution from light scattering in indirect method case and not only low system stability but also difficult in dynamic moving imaging in direct method case. X-ray detector using liquid crystal has been researching to solve these problems, but it is difficulty in uniform injection of liquid crystal because of its structural properties. Therefore, this study suggests the structure which solves present problem. Also the possibility of suggested structure was investigated using simulation.

  • Cheju Island, which was formed by volcanic activity, is an oval in its shape with the major axis of 80km and the minor axis of 40km. The island holds in its heart Mt. Hanla rising 1,950m above the sea. Petrological study of this volcanic island has been made actively by Sang-Man Lee, Chong-Kwan won and Moon-Won Lee. The chronological measurements of the island by Chong-Kwan Won and Moon-Won Lee showed that it is composed of Sanbangsan trachytes and Backlokdam trachytes(25,000 year ago). These reports are based on the chemical analysis and the rediometric chronological measurements on the ground. However, there has been no reports about the inside of caves. We made an (composition) analysis of the inside of Manjang Cave by the fundamental parameter method in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The fundamental parameter method in X-ray fluorescence spectrometry is nondestructive analysis, and it enables us to make the values processed by a computer. The results obtained by this methods are as follows : SiO$_2$(49%), $Al_2$O$_3$(17%), Fe$_2$O$_3$(13%), CaO(8.1%), MgO(5.5%), Na$_2$O(3.6%), TiO$_2$(2.1%), $K_2$O(0.86%), P$_2$O$_{5}$(0.28%), and MnO(0.20%), respectively. The data obtained by the fundamental parameter method in X-ray fluorescence was compared with the data provided by Chong-Kwan and Moon-Won Lee. Our measurement was made by K-Ar-method in cooperation with T.ITAYA. The samples are of 30,000~420,000 year ago. The composition of the values of our underground analysis with the existing values obtained by the analyses on the ground produced new data about Cheju volcanic island.d.

  • Non-destructive inspection using X-rays is used as a method to check the inside of products. In order to accurately inspect, a X-ray image requires a higher spatial resolution. However, the reduction in pixel size of the X-ray detector, which determines the spatial resolution, is time-consuming and expensive. In this regard, a DMM has been proposed to obtain an improved spatial resolution using the same X-ray detector. However, this has a limitation that the motion blur phenomenon, which is a decrease in spatial resolution. In this paper, motion blur was removed by applying Non-Blind Deconvolution to the DMM image, and the increase in spatial resolution was confirmed. DMM and Non-Blind Deconvolution were sequentially applied to X-ray images, confirming 62 % MTF value by an additional 29 % over 33 % of DMM only. In addition, SSIM and PSNR were compared to confirm the similarity to the 1/2 pixel detector image through 0.68 and 33.21 dB, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a new lung segmentation method for chest x-ray images which can take both global and local properties into account. Firstly, the initial lung segmentation is computed by applying the active shape model (ASM) which keeps the shape of deformable model from the pre-learned model and searches the image boundaries. At the second segmentation stage, we also applied the localizing region-based active contour model (LRACM) for correcting various regional errors in the initial segmentation. Finally, to measure the similarities, we calculated the Dice coefficient of the segmented area using each semiautomatic method with the result of the manually segmented area by a radiologist. The comparison experiments were performed using 5 lung x-ray images. In our experiment, the Dice coefficient with manually segmented area was $95.33%{\pm}0.93%$ for the proposed method. Effective segmentation methods will be essential for the development of computer-aided diagnosis systems for a more accurate early diagnosis and prognosis regarding lung cancer in chest x-ray images.

  • The Presence of a line-of-sight(LoS) blockage can degrade the UWB positioning accuracy for two reasons. Firstly, it makes estimation of the time of arrival(ToA) of the direct path signal difficult by complicating the multipath structure of the propagation channel. Secondly, the higher dielectric constant of the LoS blocking material than that of free space introduces excess propagation delay which will bias the range estimation. In this paper, methods based on ray tracing to reduce the ranging error resulting from the second reason are Posed. We take two different approaches; a statistical approach and a map-aided method. In the statistical approach, we establish a conditional distribution of the excess propagation delay caused by LoS blockages using a ray tracing technique. The lo6wer bound of the ranging performance based on this model is estimated. Ine ray tracing method is also used for the map-aided ToA positioning approach. UWB propagation measurement data taken in an office environment is used to examine the performance of this method.

  • The novel coronavirus 2019 is called COVID-19 has outspread swiftly worldwide. An early diagnosis is more important to control its quick spread. Medical imaging mechanics, chest calculated tomography or chest X-ray, are playing a vital character in the identification and testing of COVID-19 in this present epidemic. Chest X-ray is cost effective method for Covid-19 detection however the manual process of x-ray analysis is time consuming given that the number of infected individuals keep growing rapidly. For this reason, it is very important to develop an automated COVID-19 detection process to control this pandemic. In this study, we address the task of automatic detection of Covid-19 by using a popular deep learning model namely the VGG19 model. We used 1300 healthy and 1300 confirmed COVID-19 chest X-ray images in this experiment. We performed three experiments by freezing different blocks and layers of VGG19 and finally, we used a machine learning classifier SVM for detecting COVID-19. In every experiment, we used a five-fold cross-validation method to train and validated the model and finally achieved 98.1% overall classification accuracy. Experimental results show that our proposed method using the deep learning-based VGG19 model can be used as a tool to aid radiologists and play a crucial role in the timely diagnosis of Covid-19.

  • In the assessment of patency of a small vessel anastomosis, micro-arteriography using dental X-ray and film was used as a method of testing the patency of arterial anastomoses in the rat. Micro-arteriography could lead to an objective evaluation of the patency in End-to-End and End-to Side anastomoses. The method used in this study is easily accessible for Oral and Maxillo-facial surgeon to practice the microvascular anastomosis, and requires materials available in every dental clinic.

  • In this paper we consider multiobjective linear programming problems with coefficients of the objective functions specified by possibility distributions. Possibly and necessarily efficient solution sets are defined as funny solution sets whose membership grades represent possibility and necessity degrees to which a feasible solution is efficient. Considering efficiency condition and its dual condition in ordinary multiobjective linear programming problem, we propose efficiency test methods based on an extreme ray generation method. Since the proposed methods can be put in the part of a bi-section method, we can develop calculation and methods of the degree of possible and necessary efficiency for feasible solutions.

  • A new restoration method of chest X -ray image (dual project filter) was proposed to improve SNR(signal to noise ratio) characteristics. In this method, a priori Information of system and anatomical structure and statistics of projected object are used in the design of filter. Dual projection filter varies its parameters, adapting to the local regions of chest(lung region, mediasternum, subdiaphragm) and the structure of chest (bone, tissue, blood vessel, bronchia). The performance of Dual Projection Filter was 0.1-0.2dB better than Dual Sensor Wiener Filter, which was used for initial estimate of Dual Porjection Filter.

  • In this study, medical images, which are X-ray image and CT image, are compressed by the adam live coding technique. The medical images may be treated as special ones, because they are different from general images in many respects. The statistical characteristics that medical images only have in transform domain are analyzed, and then the improved quantization method is proposed for medical images. For chest X-ray image and CT head image, the better results are obtained by the improved adaptive coding technique.
