A New Method of the Global Interpolation in NURBS Surface: II (NURBS Surface Global Interpolation에 대한 한 방법: II)

  • In parametric surface interpolation, the choice of the parameter values to the set of scattered points makes a great deal of difference in the resulting surface. A new method is developed and tested for the parametrization in NURBS surface global interpolation. This method uses the parameter value at the maximal value of relevant rational basis function, to assign the parameter values to the arbitrary set of design data. This method gives us several important advantages in geometric modeling, the freedom of the selection of knot values, the feasible transformation of the data set to the matrix, the possibility of affinite transformation between the design data and generated surface, etc.

Equipment and Worker Recognition of Construction Site with Vision Feature Detection

  • This article comes up with a new method which is based on the visual characteristic of the objects and machine learning technology to achieve semi-automated recognition of the personnel, machine & materials of the construction sites. Balancing the real-time performance and accuracy, using Faster RCNN (Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Networks) with transfer learning method appears to be a rational choice. After fine-tuning an ImageNet pre-trained Faster RCNN and testing with it, the result shows that the precision ratio (mAP) has so far reached 67.62%, while the recall ratio (AR) has reached 56.23%. In other word, this recognizing method has achieved rational performance. Further inference with the video of the construction of Huoshenshan Hospital also indicates preliminary success.

  • When we search database with a query image, the retrieval efficiency will vary from each kind of descriptor. Even the best representative descriptor, it results a few useless images that don't match with query image. This type of error can be reduced by adopting another descriptor which extracts features in different way. At present, the choice of descriptors is base on intuitive and experimental method. By theoretic accessing to the problem of descriptor choice, we can solve the given problem in the objective and rational way. In this study, we intend to make a composite of descriptors that can reduce retrieval error by adopting principal component analysis.

Computation of 3D Coordinates from Stereo Images with RPCs (RPC를 이용한 Stereo 영상으로부터의 3차원 좌표 추출)

  • RPC(Rational Polynomial Camera) models have become the replacement model of choice for a number of high resolution satellite imagery providers. RPCs(Rational Polynomial Coefficients) provide a compact accurate representation of the ground to image geometry, allowing users to perform full photogrammetric processing of satellite imagery including block adjustment, 3D feature extraction and orthorectification. This paper presents an algorithm for 3D feature extraction using downhill simpler method which requires only function evaluations, not derivatives. The algorithm was implemented as an executable software program and tested using stereo IKONOS images of Seoul city. The results showed that the proposed algorithm was fast and accurate enough to be used as a practical method for the 3D feature extraction from stereo images with RPCs.

  • Traditional human resource management explains human characteristics with motivation, attitude, perception, value, etc., based upon behavioral science approach. And system approach is adopted in analyzing the interaction between people and the environment. However, personnel economics excludes social and psychological variables in the human choice models, and assumes very unrealistic and simple rational decision making process. For environmental variables, personnel economists considers only income and price. Traditional human resource management research model successfully explains the phenomenon for each specific situation, but lacks universality. On the other hand, personnel economics model is strict and analytical, but tends to distort the understanding of the results because of the unrealistic assumptions. These two academic fields may get benefits by introducing the other's research methodologies, theories, and ideas.

  • This study develops a day-to-day dynamics modeling framework, incorporating a consistent drivers' travel time perception behavior and traffic information provision. Descriptive traffic information is updated and provided to the subscribers making a final decision on route choice. Nonsubscribers(not equipped any information devices) are assumed to obtain daily traffic information from their experience or friends or other public agencies. Drivers' route choice behavior is modeled based on boundedly-rational behavior rules. A microscopic traffic simulation model is adopted to evaluate the network system performance. Numerical experiments on a real world network have demonstrated the convergent property of the proposed model and the effectiveness of the consistent perception model.

  • The so called Antarctic Treaty System, started from the Antarctic Treaty in 1959, has gradually been enlarged into the concept of an international environmental regime, which has been included in not a few international institutions, treaties, conventions, and international non-governmental organizations (INGO). This kind of movement, as in the role of an international environmental regime, has recently been highlighted in the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty. This Protocol is taking appropriate measures as an international environmental regime in regulating its member nations by enforcing principles in protecting Antarctic resources and environment, regulating member nations' Antarctic activities, establishing norms in the adoption of international and domestic laws, and devising regulations for deciding administrative actions through the member nations' collective decision-making procedures. h this context, this paper is to test a few questions; firstly, how the Antarctic Treaty System can be related with the role of international environmental regime; secondly, how the theories of international environmental regime, such as the hegemony theory, rational choice theory, and international morality theory, can be tested in the role of Antarctic Treaty System as an international environmental regime. Finally, this paper provides a solution for the future problems of the Antarctic Treaty System as an international environmental regime regarding the regime's principle (conflict between the environmental principle and the right of nation-state), norms and regulations (the conflict between the developed and underdeveloped nations in terms of the concept of 'common but differentiated environmental responsibility'), cooperation directions (the leadership problems between hegemonic nation and multilateral leading groups), and management methods (cooperation and arrangement problems among expert institutions, observer groups, and INGO).

  • This study examines the economies of promotion gifts in the newspaper industry. Because of the oligopolistic structure, the newspaper industry shows highly concentrated market. Under the certain circumstance, the dominant firms are struggling to become the market leader by providing unlawful promotion gifts and unbearable price discount which yields the prisoner's dilemma. Ultimately, in spite of the criticism about their unlawful behaviors, the dominant firms choose the fierce competition with high costs. On the other hand, the remaining fringe firms do not have many strategic choices due to the limited financial capacity. They cannot provide free gifts or any other incentives to the subscribers. Even worse, because advertisers and subscribers also prefer promotional gifts as a rational choice, the distorted mechanism has been sustained in the newspaper industry. Thus, governmental interventions hardly achieve the goal of controlling unfair trade. This study examines the structure, strategic behaviors of the players, and the unintended consequences leading to the dilemma on promotional sales in the newspaper industry.

Analysis of differences in store choice and hairstyle pursuit behaviors according to lifestyle types of one-person hair salon users (1인 미용실 이용자의 라이프스타일 유형에 따른 점포선택요인 및 헤어스타일추구행동 차이 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a lifestyle scale for one-person hair salon users and to identify differences in store choice factors and hairstyle pursuit behaviors according to lifestyle types. Data was collected by survey, with 225 responses being included in the analysis. Data analysis was performed using cross-analysis, factor analysis, Cronbach's α, cluster analysis, ANOVA and the Duncan-test using SPSS 23.0 analysis software. The results of the study were as follows. First, one-person hair salon users were classified according to the following lifestyle groups: The rational appearance management group, the passive appearance management group, and the discriminative appearance management group. Second, store choice factors according to lifestyle group showed significant group-specific differences in relation to store atmosphere, accessibility, and promotion. Conversely, comfort of space in store and word-of-mouth recommendation message were high for all three groups, indicating that these are important factors in relation to store selection. Third, with regard to hairstyle pursuit behaviors according to lifestyle, the discriminative appearance management group showed the same characteristics as high involvement groups that regard all dimensions of hairstyle pursuit behavior as important. The results of this study can be used to suggest efficient operations for one-person hair salons and to suggest differentiated marketing strategies to increase the demand of one-person hair salon users.

Analysis of Green Vehicle Purchasing Behavior Using Logit Model (로짓모형을 이용한 친환경차 구매행태 분석)

  • This study assumes a vehicle choice model based on the multinomial model and analyzes the vehicle choice behaviors of consumer. An SP survey targeting drivers was implemented and data was collected for model estimates, with the possible choice options of the survey takers limited to gasoline, HEV, PHEV, and EV vehicles. The explanatory variable mostly displayed a significance level of under 5%, and excluding variables for price and fuel the remaining variables were all consistent with the logical direction with the plus (+) sign and the results were determined to be rational. Consumers selecting mid-size & full-size vehicles are able to afford more than consumers that selected other vehicle types, so there was relatively little consideration given to low fuel costs when compared to vehicle price. For this reason, it was determined that for the full-size vehicle model the fuel variable could be disregarded. Socio-economic variables that were statistically significant were the age and infor variables for the sub-compact & compact, the age, infor and inc3 variables for the mid-sized & full-size vehicles.
