  • The MOS-controlled thyristor(MCT) is a new power semi-conductor device that combines four layers thyristor structure presenting regenerative action and MOS-gate providing controlled turn-on and turn-off. The MCT has very fast switching speed owing to voltage controlled MOS-gate, and very low on-state voltage drop resulting from regenerative action of four layers thyristor structure. In addition, because of a higher dv/dt rating and di/dt rating, gate drive circuit and snubber circuit can be simpler comparing to other power switching devices. So recently much interest and endeavor is being applied to develop the performance and ratings of the MCT. This paper describes the switching characteristic of the MCT for its practical applications and presents a model for PSPICE circuit simulation.   • This paper is to study on rating system of some shrubs for pedestrian control with concentrate upon the density of branch. It was usd that Hibiscus syricacus L., Spiraea prunifolia var. simpliciflora Nak, Ligustrum obtusifolium S. et Z., Callicarpa dichotoma Raeusch., Rhoododendron mucrionulatum Turcz., Syringa vulgaris L., Weigela subsessilis L. H. Bailey, Cercis chinensis bunge, Forsythia koreana Nak., Euonymus alatus Sieb, Chaenomeles speciosa Nak., orbaria sorbifolia var. stellipila Max., Deutzia parviflora Bunge, Kerria japonica De Candolle, Prunus tomentosa Thunberg ex Murray, Purunus grandulosa for. albiplena Koehne. Shrubs are invesitgated ito the density of branch, the power of sprout, height, a rate of growth, hardness of naturalizaton, crown width and existence of thorns. Shrubs belonged to high group of rating system for pedestrian control were Euonymus alatus Sieb, Purunus grandulosa for. albiplena Koehne, Chaenomeles speciosa Nak., Spiraea prunifolia var. simpliciflora Nak., Prunus tomentosa Thunberg ex Murray, Rhododendron mucronulatum Turcz., Hibiscus syricacus L., Ligustrum obtusifolium S. et Z., Syringa vulgaris L., Weigela subsessilis L.H.Bailey.

  • In a motor drive, the current rating is directly related to the rating of a switching device, and the parallel switching operation for a cost reduction is the alternatives because it has the smaller current rating through current division. There are many investigations for the parallel switching operations to equaling the current division. However it remains many problems for practical usage. This paper proposes a new parallel operation which uses a parallel phase winding to remove the traditional effect of switching device such as saturation voltage according to the division of current. The proposed strategy is verified by theoretical and experimental results.

  • This paper described the current rating methodology of high voltage connectors used for high efficient vehicles. Typically, temperature rise at rated current has been used to rate power contacts in automotive connector. However, for automotive applications, they are required to meet severe environmental conditions and high connector reliability. Therefore, it is very important to rate correctly an allowable current of automotive connector. We have measured the contact characteristics through current cycling at room temperature and at high temperature, as well as temperature rising and current carrying capacity by de-rating. From the above results, we have developed high reliable contacts with about 80 Amperes.

Correlation of Executive Function and Quantitative Electroencephalography in Children and Adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (주의력결핍 과잉행동장애 소아청소년의 실행기능과 정량화 뇌파의 상관성 연구)

  • Objectives : Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) is characterized by significant impairments in executive functions, with a prevalence of approximately 3-5% of all children worldwide. The goal of this study was to examine the relationship between executive functions and electrophysiological activities in children and adolescents with ADHD. Methods : In 31 patients with ADHD, resting-state EEG was recorded, and Comprehensive Attention Test(CAT), Stroop Color-Word Inference Test(Stroop CWIT), Trail Making Test(TMT), and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(CST) were administered. Korean version of the ADHD Rating Scale(K-ARS) was assessed. Results : Alpha and beta power positively correlated with the Attention Quotient(AQ), while delta power negatively correlated with AQ from CAT. In the Stroop CWIT, decreased delta power and increased beta power were related to higher performance. Power of the alpha band increased with higher TMT performance. Moreover, delta power negatively correlated with good performance on the CST, while alpha and high gamma band showed a positive correlation. Correlation with the parent-rating of ADHD symptoms showed a negative correlation between alpha power and higher scores on the K-ARS. Conclusions : These findings indicate that relative power in higher frequency bands of EEG is related to the higher executive function in children and adolescents with ADHD, while the association with the relative power in lower frequency bands of EEG seem to be vice versa. Furthermore, the findings suggest that QEEG may be a useful adjunctive tool in assessing patients with ADHD.

  • Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) statistic has been widely used for testing homogeneity of two distributions in the credit rating models. Joseph (2005) used K-S statistic to obtain validation criteria which is most well-known. There are other homogeneity test statistics such as the Cramer-von Mises, Anderson-Darling, and Watson statistics. In this paper, these statistics are introduced and applied to obtain criterion of these statistics by extending Joseph (2005)'s work. Another set of alternative criterion is suggested according to various sample sizes, type a error rates, and the ratios of bads and goods by using the simulated data under the similar situation as real credit rating data. We compare and explore among Joseph's criteria and two sets of the proposed criterion and discuss their applications.

Analyzing Online Customer Reviews for the Hotel Classification in Vietnam

  • The classification standards for hotels in Vietnam are different from many other hotel classification standards in the world. This study aims to analyze customer reviews on the TripAdvisor website to develop a new algorithm for hotel rating that is independent of Vietnam's hotel classification standards. This method can be applied to individual hotels, or hotels of a region or the whole country, while online booking sites only rate individual hotels. Data was crawled from TripAdvisor with 22,287 reviews of 5 cities in Vietnam. This study used a statistical model to analyze the review dataset and build an algorithm to rate hotels according to aspects or hotel overall. The results have less rating deviation when compared to the TripAdvisor system. This study also supports hotel managers to regularly update the status of their hotels using data from customer reviews, from which, managers can strategize long-term solutions to improve the quality of the hotel in all aspects and attract more travelers to Vietnam. Moreover, this method can be developed into an automatic system to rate hotels and update the status of service quality more quickly, thus, saving time and costs.

  • In this paper, power transmission systems converts the shaft power of a Turbo-shaft Engine with Free Power Turbine into the generator power and be composed of a method being supplied in the thrust motor driving a propellers. Being used this, Gas turbine engine works to flat rating about 110 kw (147 shp) that the thrust motor be extremely supplied from the engine of 317shp. In this test equipment, the engine is installed with the flywheel being able to the damping function when happen to the varying load between gas turbine engine output-shaft and generator. Then if the flywheel of inertial moment be not considered, the generator and motor not get the required power from the engine for raising the load. Also it is certified that the engine works the abnormal operation. Hence the flywheel of inertial moment is determined the required range to do the performance analysis with the dynamic transient from the given and tested engine data. This system is able to get the required power after a mounting test with the redesigned flywheel.

  • A voltage drop characteristics of a transformer-based voltage disturbance generator with series transformers is analysed. It is well known that a voltage disturbance generator with series transformer is cost-effective and reliable compared with other types. The voltage drop depends on the %Z of the transformer, power rating, and output power factor. A wrong design of the transformer results in a severe voltage drop, which can not guarantee the proper performance of the generator. The voltage drop is analysed under the condition of 10kVA output power rating and 4% of %Z with the variation of power factor. It is found through simulations and experiments that the drop increases as the power factor decreases in lagging mode, and the drop is 4% of the rated voltage in case of 0.85 lagging power factor.

  • For electrical vehicles, switched reluctance drives present a promising alternative-compared to asynchronous and synchronous (permanent magnet) concepts. For these applications, a very wide field weakening range is a key issue. Other requirements include high torque output from a small machine and low current ripple at the DC-side without the use of bulky filters - when powered from fuel cells or advanced Lithium-Ion-batteries. A new converter and control strategy according to these requirements is presented and compared to existing designs. The comparison is done for a drive system with a continuous power rating of 30 to 40 kW.
