온도(溫度)와 시비량(施肥量)에 따른 고추의 생장반응(生長反應)과 개화(開花)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Growth response and flowering of red pepper plants at different temperature and fertilized conditions)

  • 국내(國內)에서 많이 소비(消費)되는 킹건고추와 일본(日本) 재래종(在來種)인 십방(十房)을 공시(供試)하여 고추의 생육(生育)에 중요(重要)한 온도(溫度)와 시비량(施肥量)을 달리하여 처리(處理)함으로써 고추의 생장(生長)과 광합성(光合成)에 미치는 영향(影響)을 조사(調査)하여 고추재배법(栽培法) 개선(改善)에 필요한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻고자 수행(遂行)된 본(本) 시험(試驗)의 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 킹건 고추는 십방(十房)에 비하여 초장(草長), 간장(稈長), 화아수(花芽數), 건물중(乾物重), 동화량(同化量)이 많았고 십방(十房)은 킹건고추보다 엽수(葉數), 절수(節數), 엽면적(葉面積)이 많은 경향(傾向)이었다. 2. 시비량간(施肥量間)에는 증비구(增肥區)가 보비구(普肥區)보다 초장(草長), 엽수(葉數), 절수(節數), 화아수(花芽數), 건물중(乾物重), 엽면적(葉面積), 광합성(光合成)이 현저히 증가(增加)되었다. 3. 온도간(溫度間)에는 고야온(高夜溫) ($25^{\circ}C$) 처리시(處理時) 초장(草長), 간장(稈長), 엽수(葉數), 절수(節數), 화아수(花芽數), 분기수(分技數), 건물중(乾物重), 엽면적(葉面積)이 현저하게 많은 경향(傾向)을 보였다. 4. 상대생장율(相對生長率), 엽면적율(葉面積率)은 증비구(增肥區)와 고야온(高夜溫) 처리시(處理時) 높아졌으나 순동화율(純同化率)은 엽수(葉數)가 많은 십방(十房)이 킹건고추보다 적었으며 고야온(高夜溫) 처리시(處理時) 오히려 감소(減少)하였다. 5. 광합성(光合成)은 킹건고추에서 증비(增肥) 광도(光度)가 높아질수록 현저하게 증가(增加)되었다. 6. 고추 수량(收量)을 좌우하는 화아수(花芽數)는 킹건고추에서 증비(增肥), 고야간온도(高夜間溫度)($25^{\circ}C$)조건(條件)에서 많았다.

Effects of Planting Densities and Maturing Types on Growth and Yield of Soybean in Paddy Field

  • Field studies were conducted in the southeastern Korea ($36^{\circ}$N) on a commerce silt loam soil at paddy field. Seed were manually planted on 16 July 2003. Plants were planted with plant densities of 70${\times}$10 cm (row width x plant spacing), 50 x 10 cm, and 30 ${\times}$10 cm. Two seedlings per hill were taken prior to V3 stage. Fertilizer was applied prior to plant at a rate of 30-30-34 kg (N-$\textrm{P}_2\textrm{O}_5$-$\textrm{K}_2\textrm{O}$) per ha. Experimental design was a randomized complete block in a split plot arrangement with three replications. Yield from different planting densities responded similarly in three soybean cultivars and increased when planting density increased. Somyeongkong showed the highest increasing rate of yield about 26% by 338 g $\textrm{m}^{-2}$ at 30 x l0 cm compared to yield of conventional planting density (70 x 10 cm). Also, the planting density significantly affected pod and seed number and seed weight, but not seed per pod. The tallest plant appeared at 30${\times}$10 cm. The change of leaf area according to days after emergence showed differently in soybean cultivars. The highest and lowest total dry matter production per square meter appeared at 30 x 10 cm and at 70 x 10 cm, respectively. Crop growth rate (CGR) showed greater at R3∼R4 stages compared with V7∼R2 or R2∼R3 growth stages and showed the greatest at 30 x 10 cm in three soybean cultivars. As late planted soybean, there was a significant relation between seed yield and CGR, and leaf area index (LAI) according to planting densities at before and after the flowering stage. Relationship between seed yield and CGR in three planting densities showed a highly significant positive relation ($\textrm{R}^2$=0.757) at R3 to R4 stages, and significant relations ($\textrm{R}^2$=0.505, 0.617) at V7 to R2 and V2 to V3. Also, there was a highly significant positive difference between seed yield and LAI during R3 to R4 and R2 to R3 stages.

  • 본 연구는 $CO_2$농도와 온도가 상승함에 따라 인삼의 생육반응 및 광합성 특성의 변화를 알아보기 위해 실험하였다. 유리 온실 안에 대조구(대기중 $CO_2$ 농도)와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구(750-800 ppm, $2^{\circ}C$ 상승)로 나누어 비교하였으며 다음과 같다. 1. 인삼의 개엽율은 1년생 인삼을 이식한 후 1주일 이후인 4월 6일에 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구의 개엽율이 대조구보다 더 높았다. 그러나 최종 개엽율은 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구간 차이가 없었다. 2. 꽃이 나오는 시기는 대조구보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구가 3일 빨랐고, 열매관찰시기와 열매 성숙시기는 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구간 차이가 없었다. 3. 인삼의 줄기길이는 대조구보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구에서 길었고, 잎수는 대조구보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구에서 많았다. 4. 지하부 생량무게는 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구간 차이가 없었다. 5. 광합성은 모두 대조구보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구가 높았다. 대조구 내에서는 년도별 광합성이 차이가 있었다. 하지만 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구에는 1년생과 2년생 간 차이가 없었다. 6. 증산률은 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구에서 모두 년생간 차이가 있었다. 1년생은 대조구보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구가 높았고, 2년생은 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구간 차이가 없었다. 7. 수분이용효율은 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구에서 모두 1년생과 2년생간 차이가 있었다. 1년생은 대조구와 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구간 차이가 없었고, 2년생은 대조구 보다 $CO_2$ + 온도상승구가 높았다. 이상으로 볼 때 지구온난화는 인삼의 생육과 생리 생태학적 반응에 다소 긍정적인 영향을 준다.

단고추(피망) 육묘시 주야간 온도차(DIF)가 플러그묘 생장과 정식후 식물의 생육에 미치는 영향 (Influences of Difference between Day and Night Temperatures (DIF) on Growth and Development of Bell Pepper Plants before and after Transplanting)

  • 피망(Capsicum annuum L.) 플러그 육묘시 초장 조절을 위해 주야간 온도차(DIF)에 따른 16조합 처리를 50일간 실시한 뒤 각각의 묘소질에 따른 정식후 생육에 관하여 실험하였다. 주야간 온도차 처리에 따른 피망 플러그묘의 초장은 주간온도가 증가함에 따라 증가하였고, 같은 일평균 온도에서는 -DIF에 의해 억제되고, +DIF에 의해 촉진되었다. 엽전개 속도는 DIF처리 효과보다는 일평균 온도에 의해 좌우되었고, 생체중 및 건물중은 일평균 온도가 증가할수록 증가하였고 야간온도에 비해 주간온도가 크게 영향을 미쳤다. 엽면적과 줄기직경은 주야간온도가 16$^{\circ}C$부터 24$^{\circ}C$로 증가할 때까지 증가하다가 그 이상의 온도에서는 감소하였다. 육묘시 온도처리에 따른 제 1번화의 착생 절위는 일평균 온도가 증가할수록 낮아졌으나 화뢰의 퇴화는 오히려 증가하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 피망육묘시 DIF를 조절하여 육묘시 초장조절이 가능하며 -DIF 처리로 초장이 억제된 유묘일지라도 정식후 +DIF 조건에서 재배함으로써 생육을 촉진시킬 수 있었다. 또한 엽전개 속도(생육속도)와 제 1번 화의 화아 분화도 일평균 온도를 조절함으로써 조절이 가능하며, 적온 범위 내에서 일평균 온도를 증가시킴으로써 화아 분화를 촉진시킬 수 있다고 판단된다.

전동싸리 근류의 질소고정에 대한 온도의 영향 (Effect of Temperature on the Nitrogen Fixation Activity of Root Nodules of Melilotus suaveolens)

  • Effects of wintering and temperature on nitrogen fixation activity of nodules of Melilotus suaveolens Ledeb. grown in the field and growth chamber conditions were investigated. The biennial plants transfered to the growth chamber from winter field recovered the activity in 3 weeks of incubation and attained the maximum rate of $153{\mu}mol\;C_2H_4{\cdot}g$ fr wt $nodule^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$ in 5 weeks. When root nodules which adapted to different temperatures, were pretreated with 10, 20 and $30^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour, and then transfered to $30^{\circ}C$, nitrogen fixation activity was promoted in the nodules exposed to lower field temperature ($12^{\circ}C$) with 1$0^{\circ}C$ pretreatment. M. suaveolens maintained nitrogen fixation activity in the wide range of temperatures, and was more tolerant to lower temperature than those of other woody leguminous plants, Diurnal changes of nodule activity showed increase with sunrise and decrease with sunset during spring and autumn, but the activity was inhibited during July and August because of high temperature with stron irradiation. Nitrogen fixation activity of annual plant appeared in mid-April, and showed two peaks (104 and 43 mol $C_2H_4{\cdot}g$ fr wt $nodule^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$) in July and September, and then disappeared after October. Nitrogen fixation activity of biennial plant reappeared in mid-March after wintering and attained two peaks (102 and 82 ${\mu}mol\;C_2H_4{\cdot}g$ fr wt $nodule^{-1}{\cdot}h^{-1}$) in April and June of flowering period, and then disappeared after July due to plant withering by severe drought.

근두경의 크기와 시비가 참당귀의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Root Head Diameter and Fertilization on Shoot Growth and Root Yield in Angelica gigas NAKAI)

  • 참 당귀를 시비와 무비 재배조건에서 근두경크기에 따른 생육 및 수량을 검토하여 참당귀재배체계확립을 위한 기초자료로 이용하고자 시험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 어느 근두경크기구에서나 초장, 두부경 및 경과과 엽의 생중량은 무비구보다 시비구에서 수치가 높았으나 출현율은 차이가 거의 없었다. 2. 초장과 경\ulcorner엽의 생중량은 7.2mm구에서, 두부경은 5.4mm구를 경계로 하여 그보다 작거나 크면 감소하는 경향이었다. 3. 추태율, 개화율 및 절수는 무비구보다 시비구에서 높았고 근두경이 커짐에 따라 증가하였으나 화총수는 7.2mm구를 경계로 하여 그보다 작거나 크면 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다 4. 근장, 지근수 및 생근중도 역시 시비구에서 높았으며 5.4mm구를 경계로 하여 그보다 작거나 커지면 감사하는 경향을 보였다. 5. l0a당 생근중 및 건근중은 시비의 3.1mm구와 무비의 5.4mm구에서 각각 가장 높게 나타났으나 시비의 3.1mm구가 무비의 5.4mm구보다높은 수치를 보였고, 7.2와 9.3mm구에서는 모두 목질화되었다. 6. 시비와 무비 재배조건하에서 근두경의 크기에 따른 유용형질들의 분산분석에서도 높은 유의차를 보였고 이들의 상호작용에도 모든 형질에서 유의성이 인정되었다.

Effects of soil covering materials on the overwintering and the growth of Cynanchum wilfordii Hemsley

  • This study was performed to select the soil covering materials for winter safety of Cynanchum wilfordii Hemsley and to investigate the effect on the growth after overwinter. Soil covering materials such as vinyl, rice straw, lagging cover, vinyl+lagging cover, and non-covering were investigated how effect on overwintering rate, growth and yield of Cynanchum wilfordii Hemsley. In changes of soil temperature according to the soil covering materials, non-covering treatment was recorded the highest to $26.7^{\circ}C$, and lagging cover and rice straw showed little change of soil temperature with 9.2 and $9.3^{\circ}C$, respectively. Regrowth rates of early growth after overwinter were lowered in the order as rice straw > vinly+lagging cover > lagging cover > vinyl > non-covering. From the above-ground growth by soil covering materials, vine length showed similar growth in all treatments except vinyl covering and stem diameter exhibited the thicker pattern in vinyl and lagging cover, and there was no significant difference among treatments in number of branch. Flowering period is recorded July 30 in all treatments and ripening period is October 16. Yield of seed production is showed the best in vinyl+lagging cover with $25g/m^2$. Root weight and root length for subterranean growth showed no significant differences among all treatments. Yield is produced the highest in vinyl+lagging cover with 433kg/10a and the next to lagging cover with 431kg/10a. In comparison with incomes, lagging cover earned to 9,882 thousand won/10a, showed the effect on income enlargement to 21%, compare to that of the non-covering.

Optimization of factors influencing in vitro immature seed germination in Chionanthus retusus

  • Chionanthus retusus is a small deciduous tree that is widely used in landscaping due to its beautiful white spring flowers and ornamental value. Conventional propagation through seeds requires one to two years of breaking dormancy. The objective of this study was to determine the conditions of in vitro germination in C. retusus. In vitro embryo culture was carried out to investigate the effects of six factors: basal media (McCown Woody Plant Medium (WPM) and Murashige and Skoog (MS)); plant growth regulators (different combinations and concentrations of naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 6-Benzylaminopurine (BA), and gibberellic acid ($GA_3$)); embryo age (collected weekly beginning 36 days after fruit setting); low temperature pretreatment (storing $4^{\circ}C$ for 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks); coconut additives (100, 200, and $300ml{\cdot}L^{-1}$); and genotype (grouping plants depending on their flowering nature). The basal medium used in this study was WPM with $2mg{\cdot}L^{-1-1}\;GA_3$, $20g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose, and $6g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ Agar. WPM medium mixed with $GA_3$, resulted in higher germination rate as compared to when using a combination of auxin and cytokinin. $GA_3$ at $2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ was the most effective of all combinations and concentrations of PGRs. WPM medium with $2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}GA_3$ resulted in better and faster germination (75.93%). Embryos collected at 57 days after fruit setting had the highest percent of germinated seeds (87.04%) while low-temperature pretreatment of fruits at $4^{\circ}C$ for two weeks produced the highest germination (95.37%). These results of this study could be an open ground for development of an efficient protocol for commercial production of the ornamental tree.

Using Chlorophyll Fluorescence and Vegetation Indices to Predict the Timing of Nitrogen Demand in Pentas lanceolata

  • The objective of this study was to predict the timing of nitrogen (N) demand through analyzing chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlF), soil-plant analysis development (SPAD), and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), which are positively correlated with foliar N concentration in star cluster (Pentas lanceolata). The plants were grown in potting soil under optimal conditions for 30 d, followed by weekly irrigation with five concentrations (0, 4, 8, 16, and 24 mM) of N for an additional 30 d. These five N application levels corresponded to leaf N concentrations of 2.62, 3.48, 4.00, 4.23, and 4.69%, respectively. We measured 13 morphological and physiological parameters, as well as the responses of these parameters to various N-fertilizer treatments. The general increases in Dickson's quality index (DQI), above-ground dry weight (DW), total DW, flowering rate, ${\Delta}F/Fm$', and qP in response to treatment with 0 to 8 mM N were similar to those of SPAD, NDVI, and Fv/Fm. Consistent and strong correlations ($R^2$= 0.60 to 0.85) were observed between leaf N concentration (%) and SPAD, NDVI, ${\Delta}F/Fm$', and above-ground DW. Validation of leaf S PAD, NDVI, and ${\Delta}F/Fm$' revealed that these vegetation indices are accurate predictors of leaf N concentration that can be used for non-destructive estimation of the proper timing for N-solution irrigation of P. lanceolata. Moreover, irrigation with 8 mM N-fertilizer i s recommended w hen leaf N concentration, SPAD, NVDI, and ${\Delta}F/Fm$' ratios are reduced from their saturation values of 4.00, 50.68, 0.64, and 0.137%, respectively.

Responses of Pea Varieties to Rhizobium Inoculation: Nitrogenase Activity, Dry Matter Production and Nitrogen Uptake

  • The responses of five varieties and three cultivars of pea (Pisum sativum) to Rhizobium inoculation on nodulation, growth, nitrogenase activity, dry matter production and N uptake were investigated. The pea varieties were IPSA Motorshuti-l, IPSA Motorshuti-2, IPSA Motorshuti-3, BARI Motorshuti-l, BARI Motorshuti-2 and the cultivars were 063, Local small and Local white. Fifty percent seeds of each pea variety/cultivar were inoculated with a mixture of Rhizobium inoculants at rate of 15g/kg seed and the remaining fifty percent seeds were kept uninoculated. The plants inoculated with Rhizobium inoculant significantly increased nodulation, growth, nitrogenase activity, dry matter production and N uptake. Among the varieties/cultivars, BARI Motorshuti-l performed best in almost all parameters including nitrogenase activity of root nodule bacteria of the crop. There were positive correlations among the number and dry weight of nodules (r=$0.987^{**}$, $0.909^{**}$), nitrogenase activity of root nodule bacteria (r=$0.944^{**}$, $0.882^{**}$), dry weight of shoot (r=$0.787^{**}$, $0.952^{**}$), N content (r=$0.594^{**}$, $0.605^{**}$) and N uptake (r=$0.784^{**}$, $0.922^{**}$) by shoot both at flowering and pod filling stages of the crop, respectively. It was concluded that BARI Motorshuti-l in symbiotic association with Rhizobium inoculant performed best in recording nitrogenase activity, dry matter production and N uptake by pea.
