In this paper an active random noise control using adaptive learning rate neural networks is presented. The adaptive learning rate strategy increases the learning rate by a small constant if the current partial derivative of the objective function with respect to the weight and the exponential average of the previous derivatives have the same sign, otherwise the learning rate is decreased by a proportion of its value. The use of an adaptive learning rate attempts to keep the learning step size as large as possible without leading to oscillation. It is expected that a cost function minimize rapidly and training time is decreased. Numerical simulations and experiments of active random noise control with the transfer function of the error path will be performed, to validate the convergence properties of the adaptive learning rate Neural Networks. Control results show that adaptive learning rate Neural Networks control structure can outperform linear controllers and conventional neural network controller for the active random noise control.
The present study was performed to investigate the relationship between the salivary flow rate and the interpretation results of salivary scan in the patients with dry mouth. Twenty-five patients with dry mouth who visited the Dept. of Oral Medicine & Oral Diagnosis, Seoul National University Dental Hospital, were included. The unstimulated whole salivary flow rate was determined by the spitting method and the stimulated whole salivary flow rate was measured with gum-base chewing. Salivary scan was performed after the infusion of $^{99m}technetium$ pertechnetate(Tc) and interpreted. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The unstimulated and stimulated whole salivary flow rate were significantly decreased compared to normal value, which reflected the extensive destruction of salivary gland function in the patients with dry mouth. 2. The unstimulated and stimulated whole salivary flow rate were decreased in the group with decreased function in salivary scan compared with the group with normal function in salivary scan. However, there was no statistical significance between groups. 3. The difference between the stimulated and unstimulated whole salivary flow rates was greater in the group with normal function in salivary scan compared with the group with decreased function in salivary scan. 4. There was significant positive correlation between the stimulated and unstimulated whole salivary flow rates. The level of correlation was higher in the group with decreased function in salivary scan than the group with normal function in salivary scan. Collectively, these data suggested that salivary scan had the limited value. The comprehensive evaluation including history taking, clinical examination, clinical laboratory as well as the measurement of salivary flow rate are need for patients with dry mouth.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of postural correction training on pulmonary function on 28 college students suspected of turtle neck syndrome, and the following conclusions were obtained. Methods : Turtle neck syndrome suspicion 28 person were randomly divided into a posture training group (n = 14) and group that does not perform posture training (n = 14). Respiratory function was measured by SPIROVIT SP-1 and respiratory gas analyzer. The posture training group performed balloon blowing and stair climbing after 20 minutes of posture training, and the group without posture training carried out balloon blowing training and stair climbing. Five times a week and for two weeks. Results : 1. The comparison of the FVC before and after experiments caused by balloon blowing showed a higher level of effortful pulmonary function in the control group than in the experimental group. 2. Comparison of PEFs before and after the experiment by balloon blowing showed that the experimental group's peak flow rate was higher than that of the control group. 3. Comparison of the FIVC before and after experiments with balloon blowing showed that the comparison of the FIVC showed a higher level of effortless intake pulmonary function in the control group than in the experimental group. 4. The comparison of the maximum ventilation volume(VE) before and after the experimental gas measurement showed that the maximum ventilation rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. 5. The comparison of pre-test and post-test heart rate(HR) by breath gas measurement showed that the heart rate of the control group was higher than that of the experimental group. Conclusion : the results of this study showed that postural correction training, balloon blowing training, and stair climbing could have a positive impact on improving pulmonary function. However, the two-week experiment conducted five times a week showed an increase in pulmonary function, but it was difficult to see the effect due to the short study period. Therefore, it is hoped that later studies will be conducted more systematically on the effects of breathing exercises on improving pulmonary function after post-postural correction training for patients with pulmonary function problems.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the response of pulmonary function and heart rate recovery of smoker and nonsmoker in males aged 20s after graded maximal exercise. Method : The subjects were composed of smoker group (n=12) and nonsmoker group (n=12) in males aged 20s. Each groups completed an graded maximal exercise with Bruce protocol and were assessed on the pulmonary function(forced vital capacity : FVC, forced expiratory volume-one second : FEV1, FEV1/FVC) and heart rate. Result : The results were as follows: First, heart rate in the measurement point was a statistically significant difference for smoker and non-smoker group after maximal exercise, but FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC was no difference. Second, FEV1/FVC between smoker and nonsmoker group was a statistically significant difference after maximal exercise, but FVC, FEV1, heart rate was no difference. Conclusion : The results of this study is that smoking is negative effects on FEV1/FVC of pulmonary function in males aged 20s after maximal exercise.

We present proofs of the stability and convergence of Self-organizing feature map (SOFM) neural network with time-invarient learning rate and binary reinforcement function. One of the major problems in Self-organizing feature map neural network concerns with learning rate-"Kalman Filter" gain in stochsatic control field which is monotone decreasing function and converges to 0 for satisfying minimum variance property. In this paper, we show that the stability and convergence of Self-organizing feature map neural network with time-invariant learning rate. The analysis of the proposed algorithm shows that the stability and convergence is guranteed with exponentially stable and weak convergence properties as well.s as well.

This paper propose a new short-term interest rate model having a different nonlinear drift function and the same diffusion coefficient with Chan et al. (1992) model. The fractional polynomial power of the drift function in our model is linked to the local volatility elasticity of the diffusion coefficient. While the nonlinear drift function estimated by $A\"{\i}t$-Sahalia (1996a) and others has a feature that higher interest rates tend to revert downward and low rates upward, the drift function estimated by our nonlinear model shows that higher interest rate mean-reverts strongly, but, medium rates has almost zero drift and low rates has a very small drift. This characteristic coincides the empirical result based on the nonparametric methodology by Stanton (1997) and the implication by the scatter plot of the short rate data.

The purpose of this paper is to obtain design method of air-distribution system. Air-distribution system is composed of blower, duct, diffusers and measuring equipment. The air-flow rate from each diffuser is not equal. The air-flow rate is calculated with the combined equations which are Bernoulli's equation, continuity equation and minor loss equations. Inlet condition and outlet condition are adapted in each duct system. Then square difference between function of maximum air-flow rate and minimum air-flow rate is used as an object function. Area of diffuser and velocity are established as constraints. To minimize the object function, the optimization method is used. After optimization the design variables are selected under satisfaction of constraints. The air-distribution system is calculated again with the result of optimized design variable. It is shown that the air-distribution system has the equal air-flow rate from diffusers.
Magnetic viscosities of a commercialized metal evaporated tape were measured as a function of sweeping rate in VSM at room temperature. Within several seconds in the viscosity measurement, curves are downward concave and more concave with increasing sweeping rate when magnetization were plotted as a logarithmic function of time. However, magnetization varied as a logarithmic function of time after several seconds. Magetic viscosity coefficient gradually increased with increasing sweeping rate and then kept a constant value at a rate faster than 61.5 Oe/s. It was supposed that magnetic viscosity occurs during field sweeping, which was in good agreement with Sharrock's model qualitatively. Activation volume decreased with increasing sweeping rate, which was due to the fact that magnetic viscosity coefficients increased with sweeping rate while irreversible susceptibilities were not affected by sweeping rate.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between dental status and oral function by analyzing those in some long-term care elderly patients. Methods: It performed oral examination and 4 oromotor function examinations such as repeated swallowing function, correct pronunciation function, saliva secretion rate and maximum mouth opening to 91 elderly patents aged 65 and older in the municipal geriatric hospital located in Cheonan. Results: Dental status of patients such as the number of dental caries, treated teeth, retained teeth and function teeth were better in mobile elderly patients than in immobile elderly patients. Attachment rate of dental plaque and the number of teeth being extracted were more in mobile patients than in immobile patients. More retained teeth, the number of function teeth and dental caries and the score in pronunciation status test were significantly higher. With more function teeth, the score in pronunciation status test was significantly higher. As saliva secretion rate is higher, repeated swallowing function was significantly better. repeated swallowing function rate is higher pronunciation status was significantly better. Conclusions: With the results of this study, it was found that among long-term care elderly patients, oral function was worse in immobile patients than in mobile patients. Therefore, it may be necessary to plan and perform an oral function improvement program preferentially for elderly patients requiring long-term care.
The skin is a barrier between the living organism and its environment, and this barrier function resides in the stratum corneum. The main function of the stratum corneum is to serve as a barrier preventing the penetration of irritants and transepidermal water loss(TEWL). The rate of transepidermal water loss is a convenient parameter for expressing barrier function. Impaired barrier function was manifested by a greatly increased rate of transepidermal water loss. In atopic dermatitis the rate of transepidermal water lossis greatly increased transepidermal water loss. Medication of Gagampalmultang restored to normal the abnormally high rates of transepidermal water loss in the 104 patients with atopic dermatitis. It specifically plays an important role in regulating barrier function.
