인위적 기원 가돌리늄(gadolinium)의 해양 유입 연구 동향 및 향후 연구 방향 (Anthropogenic Gadolinium (Gd) Inputs into the Ocean: Review and Future Direction)

  • Gadolinium (Gd), one of a rare earth element (REE), has been widely used worldwide since the 1980s, as a resource material for contrast agents injected into examiners of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test. The organic complexed form of Gd shows an extremely stable behavior in natural environment (water), so is known that the artificial Gd from medical uses is not removed from the waste water treatment plant (WWTP) and eventually introduced into the ocean through the estuary. Since the 1990s, some previous studies have often been conducted on Gd anomalies in natural water and their effects an artificial origin from land or metropolitan areas, but little research has been potential impacts on the ocean water. In this paper, we review and introduce recent studies related to Gd anomaly in natural water and related marine effects, and also propose the future research directions.

폐 전지로부터 재활용 과정을 통한 란타넘, 네오디뮴 회수에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Recovery of Lantanum and Neodymium from Waste Battery Through the Recycling Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 유가금속 회수를 한 전기차 폐배터리 부산물의 재활용에 관하여 연구하였다. 폐배터리 부산물에는 희토류들이 남아있으나, 부산물의 형태로는 소재로서의 가치가 없기에 정제과정을 거쳐 희토류 산화물로 회수하였다. 희토류침전분말 형태의 부산물을 30% 수산화나트륨을 이용하여 가공이 편한 수산화물로 변환한 뒤, 옥살산의 용해도 차이를 이용하여 남아 있는 불순물을 정제한 뒤, D2EHPA (Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid)를 사용하여 이트륨을 분리하였다. 과망가니즈산 칼륨을 이용하여 세륨을 분리 후, PC88A (2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid mono-2-ethylhexyl ester)를 사용하여 란타넘과 네오디뮴을 분리하였다. 그 후 800 ℃의 온도에서 소성하여 란타넘, 네오디뮴 산화물로 재생하는 방법을 확인하였다.

희토류 금속을 이용한 니켈 실리사이드의 전기 및 물리적 특성 (Electrical and Physical Characteristics of Nickel Silicide using Rare-Earth Metals)

  • In this paper, we investigated electrical and physical characteristics of nickel silicide using rare-earth metals(Er, Yb, Tb, Dy), Incorporated Ytterbium into Ni-silicide is proposed to reduce work function of Ni-silicide for nickel silicided schottky barrier diode (Ni-silicided SBD). Nickel silicide makes ohmic-contact or low schottky barrier height with p-type silicon because of similar work function (${\phi}_M$) in comparison with p-type silicon. However, high schottky barrier height is formed between Ni-silicide and p-type substrate by depositing thin ytterbium layer prior to Ni deposition. Even though the ytterbium is deposited below nickel, ternary phase $Yb_xN_{1-x}iSi$ is formed at the top and inner region of Ni-silicide, which is believed to result in reduction of work function about 0.15 - 0.38 eV.

X7R용 적층 칩 세라믹 캐패시터 조성의 희토류 첨가에 따른 유전 특성 (The Effect of Rare-Earth Additives on Dielectric Properties of X7R MLCC Composition)

  • Effects of E$_2$O$_3$. HO$_2$O$_3$ and Dy$_2$O$_3$ addition on dielectric properties of non-reducible BaTiO$_3$ based X7R dielectrics with Ni electrode have been studied in a reduced atmosphere. As the content of rare-earth with E$_2$O$_3$. HO$_2$O$_3$, Dy$_2$O$_3$ was less than 3wt%, The TCC(Temperature Capacitance Change) and insulation resistance characteristics were improved by compensate the oxygen vacancies due to occupy either the Ba or Ti site. We developed the composition of X7R (EIA standard) for higher capacitance MLCC which had high reliability electric properties by the addition of Er ion into BaTiO$_3$ + MgO + Y2O$_3$ + MnO + (Ba$\sub$0.4/Ca$\sub$0.6/)SiO$_3$ composition.

  • Perovskite Manganese Oxide has been intensively investigated since the discovery of the colossal magnetoresistive(CMR) effect. In this paper, we studied the effect of temperature dependence and various doping dependence of rare earth site ions of La0.7-xPrxCa0.3MnO3 series using Ultraviolet Photoelectron spectroscopy(UPS). They show unusual temperature dependent features and the doped rare earth ions seem to affect the electron-phonon coupling strongly. We found clear evidence of metal-insulator transition from the spectral density at the Fermi level. but the transition temperature is lower than that deduced from transport measurements. Also we found that the spectral features change as time goes on implying that the surface of these materials is somewhat unstable in the vacuum. We can conclude from these results that the surface oxygen atoms correlated to the hopping electrons can escape from the material into the vacuum and that the surface state of these material is different from the bulk state.

  • As global warming accelerates, the transportation industry is increasing the use of lightweight materials with the goal of reducing carbon emissions. Magnesium is a suitable material, but its poor formability limits its use, so research is needed to improve it. Rare-earth elements are known to effectively control texture development, but their high cost limits commercial. In this study, changes in microstructure and texture were investigated by adding Pb, which is expected to have a similar effect as rare-earth elements. The material used is Mg-15wt%Pb alloy. Initial specimens were obtained by rolling at 773 K to a rolling reduction of 25% and heat treatment. Afterwards, plane strain compression was performed at 723 K with a strain rate of 5×10-2s-1 and a strain of -0.4 to -1.0. As a result, recrystallized grains were formed within the microstructure, and the main component of the texture changed from (0,0) to (30,26). The maximum axial density was initially 10.01, but decreased to 4.23 after compression.

  • This paper developed a manufacturing method for resin magnet contained rare earth element and synthetic resin. Use this manufacturing method, developed a electro wave absorbent material and plant growth promote machine. Result of experiments shown to have excellent on bean sprouts cultivate, computer monitor, television monitor and cellular phone etc.

희토류 원소를 이온주입법으로 도핑한 GaN 박막의 광전이 특성 (Optical properties of Rare-Earth-Implanted GaN Epilayer)

  • 사파이어 기판위에 성장된 GaN 기판위에 희토류 원소인 Gd을 이온주입 (ion-implantation)법으로 도핑한 시료에 대하여 온도 변화에 따른 광발광 (photoluminescence) 특성을 연구하였다. 이온주입 도핑에 따른 광전이 특성은 전이 진폭이 저온 (5 K)에서 590 nm 근처에서 최고값을 갖는 불순물 전이가 나타남을 보인다. 이때 이 전이는 온도가 올라감에 따라 세기강도는 감소하나 청색편이 현상을 보이며 200 K 이상에서는 오히려 세기강도가 증가하는 비정상 전이 특성을 보임을 관측하였다. 이러한 비정상 광전이는 희토류 불순물 효과와 이온주입에 따른 결정격자의 불완전성에 기인하는 것으로 여겨진다.

폐형광등 재활용 공정의 개선 연구 (A Study on Improvement of Recycling Process of Waste Fluorescent Lamps)

  • 본 연구에서는 폐형광등 처리 공정의 경제성 확보를 위하여 수행되었으며, 폐형광등 유리의 글래스비드용 원료로서의 사용 가능성, 폐형광체 분말로부터 희토류의 침출, 희토류 침출액으로부터 희토류의 용매추출 가능성 등을 검토하였다. 폐형광체는 산화이트륨 28.9%, 산화세륨이 3.46%, 산화유로퓸 1.95%, 산화터븀 1.76%, 산화란탄 1.43% 순으로 함유되어 있어 회수 및 정제 시 경제성이 충분할 것으로 판단되었다. 폐형광등 유리를 사용하여 글래스비드를 시험 생산 한 결과 그 생산수율과 품질이 우수하여 폐형광등 유리를 글래스비드용 원료로 사용할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 소다배소한 폐형광체를 수침출하면 알루미늄과 규소성분 및 잔류 탄산나트륨 등이 용해하며, 이 수용액에 탄산가스를 불어 넣어 pH를 7 정도로 떨어뜨리면 NaAl2(CO3)(OH)2와 SiO2 등이 침전하였다. 자이렌을 희석제로 사용하는 cyanex272-hydrochloric acid, cyanex272-sulfuric acid, D2EHPA-hydrochloric acid, D2EHPA-sulfuric acid, lonquest290-hydrochloric acid, lonquest290-sulfuric acid, p507-hydrochloric acid 조합의 용매추출에서 Y, Eu, Ce, La, Tb의 추출률이 100%에 가깝다. 그러나 동일 조건에서의 원소별 추출률의 차이, 즉 선택성은 16% 이하이다.

  • The undesirable phase transformation of zirconium dioxide at high temperatures can be eliminated by stabilization of the cubic phase with an addition of a selected alkaline earth or rare-earth oxide. In this paper the ionic conductivity of cubic solid solutions in the stabilized ZrO$_2$ by CaO-Y$_2$O$_3$ system was examined. The higher ionic conductivity appears to be related to lower activation energy rather than to the number of oxygen vacancies dictated by composition. Those compositions of highest conductivity lie close to the cubic-monoclinic solid-solution phase boundary. Conductivity temperature data are presented that indicate a reversible order-disorder transition for Zr$_2$2-Y$_2$O$_3$cubic solid solutions containing 20 and 25 mole % $Y_2$O$_3$.
