  • 1. Introduction Present study presents the basic concept of a Solid Freeform Fabrication System using a rapid prototyping procedure and optimal control for a transferring and accumulating system. And it developed a novel rapid prototyping process that can use ceramic or metal as well as polymer as a basic material. 2. Solid Freeform Fabrication System 2.1 Basic Theory A 3D CAD data of the model is converted to the 2D cross-section data of the slides.   • Software-In-the-Loop Simulation(SILS) and Rapid Control Prototyping(RCP) are proposed as an integrated development environment to support the development process from system design to implementation. SILS is an environment used to simulate control systems with temporal behavior. RCP offers seamless phase shift from design to implementation based on automatic code generation. There are several toolsets that support control system design and analysis. A few of these tools generate the control software automatically. However, most of these design toolsets do not cover temporal behavior which appears after implementation. In earlier toolsets, the design and the implementation of a control system are considered as two separate processes which mean the conventional development process is not connected strictly. SILS/RCP environments work under an identical platform and use the same representation for system modeling. An integrated SILS/RCP environment makes it possible to design controllers under conditions similar to real execution during off-line simulation and to realize controllers in the early design phase. SILS/RCP environments integrate the design and implementation phases which reduce the time-to-market and provide greater performance-assured design. The establishment of SILS/RCP and the practical design approaches are presented.

비례제어밸브용 디지털 앰프.컨트롤러에 대한 연구 (A Study on a Digital Amplifier.Controller for Proportional Control Valve)

  • This study presents the design of digital amplifier.controller for a proportional control valve and the development of PID discrete control scheme by using RCP(Rapid Controller Prototyping) system. RCP system is the device to embed the control code developed in PC into the microcontroller on-site. Ramp input test using the digital amplifier.controller developed in this study was carried out for the proportional control valve of domestic production and Bosch Rexroth respectively. The instability problem occurred around maximum displacement of localized valve spool at ramp input test was solved by supplementing offset current to the duty ratio of PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) driving signal to the solenoid. The comparison of test results between localized proportional control valve and Bosch Rexroth's product shows that the characteristics obtained by ramp input test and static flow gains are alike each other. Two valves are about the same in dead bands and hysteresis characteristics.

  • SFFS(Solid Freeform Fabrication System) is commercializing to rapid prototyping concept in foreign some corporations including the U.S.A, have much technological problems yet and need new mode for agile prototyping. In this paper, we design algorithm that the cutting path of laser beam, on the SFFS(Solid Freeform Fabrication System), is controlled with constant speed. The designed algorithm for constant-speed path control is implemented and experimented in the CAFL$\^$VM/ (Computer Aided Fabrication of Lamination for Various Material) system, the new SFFS which was developed in this paper.

  • In recent years, many robotics researches have been focused on developing human-friendly robots, that is, humanoid biped robots. The researches of humanoid robots include various areas such as hardware development, control of biped locomotion, artificial intelligence, human interaction, etc. The present work concerns the hardware development of a mid-size humanoid robot, BONOBO, focusing on rapid development of outer body parts with integrated application if CAD/CAM/CAE/RP. Most parts are three-dimensionally designed using 3D CAD, and effectively connected with CAE analyses using both kinematic simulation and structural analysis. In order to reduce lead time and investment cost for parts developments, Rapid Prototyping (RP) and CAM are selectively utilized for manufacturing body parts. These master parts are then replicated using the vacuum casting process, from which we can obtain plastic parts repeatedly. Through this integrated approach, the first prototype of BONOBO can be successfully developed with relatively low time and investment costs.

  • Soft engineering, based on symbiotic coexistence of human, machines and environment, is a new engineering field to explore the proper technology and the proper way of engineering. To explore soft engineering intents easily, various robot projects at Pusan National University conducted are presented. Thought experiment, interactive e-leaning, rapid prototyping engineering, biomimciry, tangibility, and ubiquity are concepts to be explored. Thought experiments projects are organized and performed, which include robot assembly game, Turing test, and robotics in science fiction. "Junk robot project" and "ubiquitous Pusan National University (u-PNU) project" have been organized. Also, bug robot project, interactive robot project, and interactive emotional robot projects are introduced. Weekly science fiction films are shown and discussed.

  • Generally, the use of robots in manufacturing industry has been increased during the past decade. GMA(Gas Metal Are) welding is an actively growing area and many new procedures have been developed for use with high strength alloys. One of the basic requirement for welding applications is to study relationships between process parameters and bead geometry. The objective of this paper is to develop a new approach involving the use of neural network and multiple regression methods in the prediction of bead geometry for GMA welding process and to develop an intelligent system that enables the prediction of bead geometry using Rapid Prototyping(RP) in order to employ the robotic GMA welding processes. This system developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK, could be effectively implemented not only for estimating bead geometry, but also employed to monitor and control the bead geometry in real time.

  • The FD process is analogous to the direct piston extrusion process where the cold feed filament acts as a piston extruding the molten filament from the heated liquefier through a nozzle. The extruded filament is deposited on top of futureless platform, where the liquefier and the nozzle move in X and Y direction control by computer based on the part geometry. After the first layer, the Z platform indexes down and the next layer get deposited on top of the first layer. the layer by layer building process introduces surface problem. This paper describes effect of slice interval of the parts built by fused deposition modelling rapid prototyping system.

  • In the work, a new computerized incremental forming method having high flexibility has been developed. In the mothod, the ordinary tools are replaced by various small tools, and only the small local region of a sheet blank is incrementally by movement of these tools. Since a small tool moves over the arbitrary surface ofthe dies using a NC machine, it is possible to produce three-dimensional and non-symmetric parts directly from CAD data. Arbitrarily shaped dies are made by LOM(Laminated Object Manufacturing), which is one of the Rapid Prototyping Methods. A forming machine is designed and developed by introducing a computer to control the movement of the tools.

진공주형몰드 제작에 대한 최적조건 설정에 관한 연구 (Study on optimum conditions establishment by Mold fabrication of Vacuum Casting)

  • In this study, we analyzed about that after design form manufacture master pattern in Rapid Prototyping-RP through design program, processes to manufacture prototype using Vacuum Casting. In Rapid Prototyping-RP, there is an en-or by shrinkage of resin and, in Vacuum Casting, there is an error by shrinkage of silicon. To select condition which shrinkage become the minimum of each process, manufactured prototype after using Full Factorial Design of Design of Experiments, We could confirm shrinkage using reverse engineering and that result came into effect ANOVA 2-way. We applied errors of each process to master pattern, and then presented the method to improve flood control precision of prototype of Vacuum Casting.
