Applying a modified AUC to gene ranking

  • High-throughput technologies enable the simultaneous evaluation of thousands of genes that could discriminate different subclasses of complex diseases. Ranking genes according to differential expression is an important screening step for follow-up analysis. Many statistical measures have been proposed for this purpose. A good ranked list should provide a stable rank (at least for top-ranked gene), and the top ranked genes should have a high power in differentiating different disease status. However, there is a lack of emphasis in the literature on ranking genes based on these two criteria simultaneously. To achieve the above two criteria simultaneously, we proposed to apply a previously reported metric, the modified area under the receiver operating characteristic cure, to gene ranking. The proposed ranking method is found to be promising in leading to a stable ranking list and good prediction performances of top ranked genes. The findings are illustrated through studies on both synthesized data and real microarray gene expression data. The proposed method is recommended for ranking genes or other biomarkers for high-dimensional omics studies.

  • This article presents a multiple comparison ranking procedure for several products of the Poisson rates. A preference probability matrix that warrants the optimal comparison ranking is introduced. Using a Bayesian Monte Carlo method, we develop simulation-based procedure to estimate the matrix and obtain the optimal ranking via a row-sum scores method. Necessary theory and two illustrative examples are provided.

  • In this article, a new penalty and different ranking algorithms are used to find the lowest transportation costs for the fuzzy transportation problem. This approach utilises different ranking techniques when dealing with triangular fuzzy numbers. Also, we find that the fuzzy transportation solution of the proposed method is the same as the Fuzzy Modified Distribution Method (FMODI) solution. Finally, examples are used to show how a problem is solved.

  • 퍼지숫자의 정렬은 퍼지숫자를 크기 순서로 나열을 하는 것이다. 일반적으로 퍼지숫자의 정렬을 위해서는 퍼지숫자 사이의 비교가 필요한데. 피지숫자가 명확하지 않은 값을 표현하기 때문에. 그 비교 결과 역시 명확하지 않을 수 있다 따라서 그 비교결과를 이용한 정렬결과 역시 명확하지 않을 수 있다 그러나 지금가지 대부분의 연구는 퍼지숫자의 정렬 결과를 하나의 배역로만 명확하게 표현하였다. 본 논문 에서는 이러한 점을 고려하여 퍼지만족함수를 이용한 퍼지숫자 정렬방법을 제안한다. 퍼지만족함수는 두 퍼지숫자를 비교하여 그 대소를 0과 1사이의 퍼지집합으로 표현하는 퍼지비교방법이다. 제안하는 방법은 정렬결과로 단순히 하나의 배열만을 생성하지 않고, 퍼지숫자가 겹쳐서 생길 수 있는, 다른 가능한 정렬결 과들을 생성한다.

순위기반 컨조인트분석에서 선호도측정을 위한 새로운 방법 (New Method for Preference Measurement in Ranking-based Conjoint Analysis)

  • 순위기반 컨조인트분석은 마케팅조사를 비롯한 다양한 분야에서 널리 활용되고 있다. 이 분석기법은 다른 기법들에 비하여 몇 가지 장점을 가지고 있는 반면에, 응답자들이 다수의 제품프로파일들에 대한 선호도 순위를 정확하게 평가하기 어렵다는 한계를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 응답효율성을 향상시키기 위하여 순위집합 개념을 도입한 새로운 선호도 측정방법을 제안한다. 응답자에게 순위집합들에 포함된 소수의 프로파일들에 대한 선호도를 순위로 평가하게 한 후 평가결과를 종합하여 프로파일 전체에 대한 순위를 얻는 방법이다. 이 방법에 의하면 응답자가 프로파일들에 대한 선호도 순위를 매기는 작업을 용이하게 할 수 있고 선호도 순위를 효율적으로 평가할 수 있다. 한편, 다수의 프로파일을 수용할 수 있는 순위집합을 체계적으로 구성하기 위하여 균형불완비블록설계를 확장하여 쌍체설계로 전환시키는 방법을 개발하였다. 제안된 측정방법을 채택한 순위기반 컨조인트분석을 여성용 향수제품에 대한 소비자 선호도분석에 실제로 적용하였다.

전력계통에 있어서 직접법을 활용한 상정사고 위험순위 결정 (Contingency Severity Ranking Using Direct Method in Power Systems)

  • This paper presents a method to select contingency ranking considering voltage security problems in power systems. Direct method which needs not the detailed knowledge of the post contingency voltage at each bus is used. Based on system operator's experience and knowledge, the membership functions for the MVAR mismatch and allowable voltage violation are justified describing linguistic representation with heuristic rules. Rule base is used for the computation of severity index for each contingency by fuzzy inference. Contingency ranking harmful to the system is formed by the index for security evaluation. Compared with 1P-1Q iteration, this algorithm using direct method and fuzzy inference shows higher computation speed and almost the same accuracy. The proposed method is applied to model system and KEPCO pratical system which consists of 311 buses and 609 lines to show its effectiveness.

One such research is fuzzy ranking models, which have been showing their superior performance in handling the uncertainty involved in the retrieval process. In this study we develop a new fuzzy ranking model based on the user preference. Through the experiments on the TREC-2 collection of Wall Street Journal documents, we show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional fuzzy ranking models.

대기중 유해 화학 물질의 인체 위해도 우선순위 선정 연구 (Human Health Risk based Priority Ranking for Hazardous Air Pollutants)

  • Although it is suggested that risk -based management plan is needed to manage air pollution effectively, we have no resources enough to evaluate all aspects of substances and set priorities. So we need to develop a logical and easy risk-based priority setting method. However, it if impossible that only one generic system that is consistent with all the use is developed. In this study, we proposed a human health risk based priority-setting method for hazardous air pollutants, and ranked priorities for this method. First of all, after investigating previous chemical ranking and scoring systems, we chose appropriate indicators and logics to goal of this study and made a chemical priority ranking method using these. As results, final scores in priority ranking method were derived for 25 substances, and ethylene oxide, acrylonitrile and vinyl chloride were included in high ranks. In addition, same substances were highly ranked when using default values like when using no default, but the scores of hydrofluoric acid and ryan and compounds were sensitive to default values. This study could be important that priorities were set including toxicity type and quality and local inherent exposure conditions and we can set area-specific management guidelines and survey plans as a screening tool.

RANKING EXPONENTIAL TRAPEZOIDAL FUZZY NUMBERS WITH CARDINALITY

  • In this paper, we want to represent a method for ranking of two exponential trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. In this study a new Cardinality between exponential trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is proposed. Cardinality in this method is relatively simple and easier in computation and ranks various types of exponential fuzzy numbers. For the validation the results of the proposed approach are compared with different existing approaches.
