A Study on Bundle Block Adjustment with Additional Parameters (부가매개변수(附加媒介變數)를 고려(考慮)한 번들블럭조정(調整)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • In this study, the block adjustments are perfomed by bundle adjustment method of analytical photogrammetry, and the characteristics of 3-dimensional errors for the objects are analysed. The optimal arrangement and configuration of the control points is selected from various arrangements and configurations of control points, and the accuracies of result obtained by block adjustment and by single model adjustment are compared, And the accuracy of bundle block adjustment is compared with that of the independent model triangulation which is another method in block adjustment with additional parameters by selecting the suitable systematic error model. As a result of this study, an the effective method to improve accuracy in close-range photogrammetry was presented by forming blocks and using bundle block adjustment with proper arrangement and configuration of control poinst.

Link Adaptation Method of the Block Coded Modulation for UWB-IR (무선광대역통신을 위한 블록부호화방식의 링크 적응 기법)

  • In wireless communications environments, a link adaptation technique that selects the proper rate from among several transmission rates is adopted to cope with variations in channel status. In block coded modulation, the frame time and/or the block length can be adjusted to the channel status. A smaller frame time can cause inter-frame interference (IFI), however, a larger frame time can reduce the data rate. Therefore, frame time is the design factor decided by a tradeoff between performance and the data rate. This paper presents a method to determine the frame time based on the processing gain for the channel model, CM1~CM4, recommended by IEEE 802.15a. Also, a link adaptation technique for block coded modulation is proposed for efficient communications by varying the frame time and the block length. Through simulation, link adaptation can be carried out with a step size of 2~5 nsec in a frame time range of 14~ 50 nsec for channel models CM1~CM4.

A SPECK Crypto-Core Supporting Eight Block/Key Sizes (8가지 블록/키 크기를 지원하는 SPECK 암호 코어)

  • This paper describes the hardware implementation of SPECK, a lightweight block cipher algorithm developed for the security of applications with limited resources such as IoT and wireless sensor networks. The block cipher SPECK crypto-core supports 8 block/key sizes, and the internal data-path was designed with 16-bit for small gate counts. The final round key to be used for decryption is pre-generated through the key initialization process and stored with the initial key, enabling the encryption/decryption for consecutive blocks. It was also designed to process round operations and key scheduling independently to increase throughput. The hardware operation of the SPECK crypto-core was validated through FPGA verification, and it was implemented with 1,503 slices on the Virtex-5 FPGA device, and the maximum operating frequency was estimated to be 98 MHz. When it was synthesized with a 180 nm process, the maximum operating frequency was estimated to be 163 MHz, and the estimated throughput was in the range of 154 ~ 238 Mbps depending on the block/key sizes.

  • This study was carried out to find a method which can be used to measure the soil moisture content of the soil bin exactly and quickly. And gypsum block is used as an instrument in measuring soil moisture content in the field of green house farming, etc.. However the characteristics of gypsum block, or the guide line of making gypsum block is not well introduced in Korea. So the information about gypsum block such as the density of gypsum, type of electrode, dimension of electrode, distance between electrodes, density of surrounding soil were included in this study and their effects on the relationship between soil moisture content and electrical resistance were investigated. The results of this study are as follows; 1. The grid type electrode was quicker in accessing the equilibrium condition and showed more sensitive response to the change of soil moisture content than the plate type electrode. 2. The longer the distance between the electrodes, the larger the electrical resistance, and the distance of 3 to 5 mm was recommended. 3. The larger the width of the electrode, the smaller the electrical resistance. However, there was no significance between the levels designed in this study. Considering the size of the gypsum block itself, the adaptible range of width may be 4 to 8 mm. 4. The higher the density of gypsum, the smaller the electrical resistance. And the block of lower density was broken down in the soil of higy moisture content. The optimum ratio of gypsum to water was 7:5. 5. The measuring system used in this study allowed simultaneous, multi-data acquisition. So this system using A/D converter can be applied to the measurement of soil moisture content of soil bin.

A Neural Network based Block Classifier for High Speed Fractal Image Compression (고속 프랙탈 영상압축을 위한 신경회로망 기반 블록분류기)

  • Fractal theory has strengths such as high compression rate and fast decoding time in application to image compression, but it suffers from long comparison time necessary for finding an optimally similar domain block in the encoding stage. This paper proposes a neural network based block classifier which enhances the encoding time significantly by classifying domain blocks into 4 patterns and searching only those blocks having the same pattern with the range block to be encoded. Size of a block is differently determined depending on the image complexity of the block. The proposed algorithm has been tested with three different images having various featrues. The experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm enhances the compression time by 40% on average compared to the conventional fractal encoding algorithms, while maintaining allowable image qualify of PSNR 30 dB.

A Texture Classification Based on LBP by Using Intensity Differences between Pixels (화소간의 명암차를 이용한 LBP 기반 질감분류)

  • This paper presents a local binary pattern(LBP) for effectively classifying textures, which is based on the multidimensional intensity difference between the adjacent pixels in the block image. The intensity difference by considering the a extent of 4 directional changes(verticality, horizontality, diagonality, inverse diagonality) in brightness between the adjacent pixels is applied to reduce the computation load as a results of decreasing the levels of histogram for classifying textures of image. And the binary patterns that is represented by the relevant intensities within a block image, is also used to effectively classify the textures by accurately reflecting the local attributes. The proposed method has been applied to classify 24 block images from USC Texture Mosaic #2 of 128*128 pixels gray image. The block images are different in size and texture. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a speedy classification and makes a free size block images classify possible. In particular, the proposed method gives better results than the conventional LBP by increasing the range of histogram level reduction as the block size becomes larger.

Block Shear Behavior of Cold-Formed Duplex Stainless Steel (STS329FLD) Welded Connection with Base Metal Fracture (냉간성형 듀플렉스계 스테인리스강(STS329FLD) 용접접합부 모재 블록전단파단 거동)

  • Recently, lean duplex stainless steel, STS329FLD with less nickel (reduced to 0.5~1.5%) has been developed as a substitute of austenitic stainless steel (8%~10.5% nickel in STS304) and included in Korean standards (KS). This paper investigates the block shear behavior of cold-formed duplex stainless steel (STS329FLD, nominal plate thickness of 1.5mm) fillet-welded connection with base metal fracture. Main variables are weld lengths in the longitudinal and the transverse directions of applied force ranged from 20mm to 50mm. As a result, specimens failed by typical block shear facture (the combination of gross section tensile fracture and shear fracture or shear yielding) and ultimate strength of the specimens got higher with the increase of weld length. Block shear fracture strengths predicted by current design specifications (KBC2016/AISC2016 and EC3) and existing proposed equations for welded connections by Topkaya, Oosterhof & Driver and Lee et al. were compared with test strengths. KBC2016/AISC2016 and EC3 design specifications underestimated block shear strength of STS329FLD welded connections by on average 24%, 29%, respectively and Oosterhof & Driver, Topkaya and Lee et al's equations overestimated the ultimate strength of the welded connection by the range of 3% to 44%.

Improved Algorithm of Sectional Tone Mapping for HDR Images (HDR 이미지를 위한 단면 톤 매핑 개선 알고리즘 구현)

  • High dynamic range (HDR) technology has been drawing attention in the field of imaging and consumer entertainment. As tools for capturing and creating HDR contents, encoding, and transmission evolve to support HDR formats, various display capabilities are being developed and increased. Hence, there is need for remapping native HDR imagery for display on lower quality legacy standard dynamic range (SDR) displays. This operation is referred to as tone mapping. In this paper, we present a sectional tone mapping method by Lenzen, and expand upon a tone mapping approach to improve temporal stability while maintaining picture quality. Compared to the existing block-based sectional tone mapping, our method uses the edge awareness-based tone mapping. We estimate the performance of the objective metric on temporal flickering. The experimental result shows that the algorithm maintains a smoother relationship between the output luminance values, and this reveals success in reducing halos and improving temporal stability with adopted edge aware filtering.

A Single-Stage 37 dB-Linear Digitally-Controlled Variable Gain Amplifier for Ultrasound Medical Imaging

  • This paper presents a variable gain amplifier (VGA) for an analog front-end (AFE) of ultrasound medical imaging. This VGA has a closed-loop topology and shows a 37-dB-linear characteristic with a single-stage amplifier. It consists of an op-amp, a non-binary-weighted capacitor array, and a gain-control block. This non-binary-weighted capacitor array reduces the required number of capacitors and the complexity of the gain-control block. The VGA has been fabricated in a 0.35-mm CMOS process. This work gives the largest gain range of 37 dB per stage, the largest P1 dB of 9.5 dBm at the 3.3-V among the recent VGA circuits available in the literature. The voltage gain is controlled in the range of [-10, 27] dB in a linear-in-dB scale with 16 steps by a 4-bit digital code. The VGA has a bandpass characteristic with a passband of [20 kHz, 8 MHz].

Experimental Analysis to Behavior of Swivel Angle in Bent-axis type Oil Hydraulic Piston Pump for Heavy Vehicle (대형차량용 사축식 유압 피스톤 펌프의 경전각 거동에 따른 실험적 해석)

  • To improve the performance of the bent-axis type axial piston pump driven by the tapered piston, it is necessary to know the driving characteristics and mechanism of the tapered piston and the cylinder block. Since each piston not only rotates on its axis and reciprocates in the cylinder bore, but also revolves around the axis of the driving shaft, it is difficult to analyze the driving mechanism theoretically. The theoretical mechanism for the bent-axis type axial piston pump is studied by using the geometrical method. The driving range of the tapered piston is determined by theoretical equations. The experimental results show that the cylinder block is driven by one tapered piston in a limited range and the core parameters such as driving factor of the piston and the ahead delay angle influenced performance of the bent-axis type axial piston pump.
