Monolayers of hypericin, a photodynamic polycyclic quinoidal compound, were prepared at the air-water interface, and were transferred to metal substrates to form Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) monolayers. The structural characteristics of hypericin LB monolayers and self-assembled (SA) monolayers were investigated using surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectroscopy. Both the spectroscopic data and the surface pressure - area (${\pi}-A$) isotherms suggest that hypericin forms ${\pi}-{\pi}$ aggregates that orient vertically to the subphase surface. Whereas the ordering and orientation of control was less effective in SA monolayers, a higher structural regularity was attained in LB systems. The effect of subphase on the structural integrity of the monolayer was also investigated.

Synthetic diamond films have been deposited on the silicon(100) surface and molybdenum substrates using an microwave plasma enhanced vapor deposition (MWPECVD) method. The effect of deposition time, surface morphology, X-ray diffraction pattrm, infrared transmittance and Raman Scattering have been studied, The diamond film deposited on Mo substrate for (100) hours at 40 torr H$_2$-CH$_4$O$_2$ gas system have been shown 1${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/h of growth rate and good crystallization
Raman spectroscopy is effective to investigate functional groups via molecular vibration. The technique offers the structural information of compounds including subtle changes in the chemical composition of local atomic coordination without critical damage. Thus, the effect of carbonation on the hydration characteristics of Portland cement under pre-curing conditions for carbonation was investigated via Raman spectroscopy in the present study. Gaseous CO2 was injected within 60 seconds, and the reaction time was varied from 0 minute to 90 minutes. The test results indicated that the Ca/Si ratio of C-S-H reduced immediately after mixing and then the C-S-H with a relatively high Ca/Si ratio coexisted as the reaction time increased. The calcium carbonates formed in the present study included calcite and amorphous calcium carbonates. The test results via Raman spectroscopy provide valuable information about the carbonation characteristics of OPC under pre-curing conditions for carbonation.

Graphene is a 2-D sheet of $sp^2$-bonded carbon arranged in a honeycomb lattice. This material has attracted major interest, and there are many ongoing efforts in developing graphene devices because of its high charge mobility and crystal quality. Therefore clear understanding of the substrate effect and mechanism of synthesis of graphene is important for potential applications and device fabrication of graphene. In a published paper in J. Phys. Chem. C (2008), the effect of substrate on the atomic/electronic structures of graphene is negligible for graphene made by mechanical cleavage. However, nobody shows the interaction between Ni substrate and graphene. Therefore, we have studied this interaction. In order to studying these effect between graphene and Ni substrate, We have observed graphene synthesized on Ni substrate and graphene transferred on $SiO_2$/Si substrate through Raman spectroscopy. Because Raman spectroscopy has historically been used to probe structural and electronic characteristics of graphite materials, providing useful information on the defects (D-band), in-plane vibration of sp2 carbon atoms (G-band), as well as the stacking orders (2D-band), we selected this as analysis tool. In our study, we could not observe the doping effect between graphene and Ni substrate or between graphene and $SiO_2$/Si substrate because the shift of G band in Raman spectrum was not occurred by charge transfer. We could noticed that the bonding force between graphene and Ni substrate is more strong than Van de Waals force which is the interaction between graphene and $SiO_2$/Si. Furthermore, the synthesized graphene on Ni substrate was in compressive strain. This phenomenon was observed by 2D band blue-shift in Raman spectrum. And, we consider that the graphene is incommensurate growth with Ni polycrystalline substrate.

The effect the diameter of silver nanorod arrays whose distance between the nanorods was uniform at 65 nm have on Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) has been studied by varying the diameter from 28 to 51 nm. Nanorod length was fixed at approximately 62 nm, which is the optimum length for SERS by excitation with a 632.8 nm laser line. The transverse and longitudinal modes of the surface plasmon of these silver nanorods were near 400 and 630 nm, respectively. The extinction of the longitudinal mode increased with increasing nanorod diameter, while the transverse mode did not change significantly. High-quality SERS spectra of p-aminothiophenol and benzenethiol adsorbed on the tips of the silver nanorods were observed by excitation with a 632.8 nm laser line. The SERS enhancement increased with increasing nanorod diameter. We concluded that the SERS enhancement increases when the diameter of silver nanorods is increased mainly by increasing the excitation efficiency of the longitudinal mode. The enhancement factor for the silver nanorods with a 51 nm diameter was approximately $2{\times}10^7$.
DLC films were deposited using the ECR-PECVD method with the fixed deposition condition, such as ECR power, methane and hydrogen gas-flow rates and deposition time, for various substrate bias voltage. We have investigated the ion bombardment effect induced by the substrate bias voltage on films during the deposition of film. The characteristic of the films were analyzed using the FTIR, Raman, and UV/Vis spectroscopy analysis shows that the amount of dehydrogenation in films was increased with the increase of substrate bias voltage and films thickness was decreased. Raman scattering analysis shows that integrated intensity ratio(ID/IG) of the D and G peak was increased as the substrate bias voltage increased and films hardness was increased. Optical transmittances of DLC film were decreased with increasing deposition time and substrate bias voltage. From these results, it can be concluded that films deposited at this experimental have the enhanced characteristics of DLC because of the ion bombardment effect on films during the deposition of film.

Due to the electrical properties such as narrow bandgap and high carrier mobility, indium antimonide (InSb) has attracted a lot of attention recently. For the fabrication of electronic or photonic devices, an etching process is required. However, during etching process, enegetic ions can induce structural damages on the bombarded surface. Especially, InSb has a very weak binding energy between In atom and Sb stom, it can be easily damaged by impingement of ions. In the previous work, to evaluate the surface properties after Ar ion beam etching, the plasma-induced structural damage on the etched InSb(100) surface had been examined by resonant Raman spectroscopy. As a result, we demonstrated the relation between the enhanced transverse optical(TO) peak in the Raman spectrum and the ion-induced structral damage near the InSb surface. In this work, the annealing effect on the etched InSb(100) surface has investigated. Annealing process was performed at $450^{\circ}C$ for 10 minute under antimony ambient. As-etched InSb(100) surface had shown a strongly enhanced TO scattering intensity in the Raman spectrum. However, the annealing process with antimony flowing caused the intensity to recover due to the structural reordering and the reduction of antimony vacancies. It proves that the origin of enhanced TO scattering is Sb vacancies. Furthermore, it shows that etching-induced damage can be cured effectively by the following annealing process under Sb ambient.
The effect of the silicon acrylate as a reactive additive on the UV-curing photopolymerization reaction was studied by micro raman technique. For the study, acrylate systems and Darocur 1173 were used as oligomer and monomers, and a photo initiator, respectively. The content of silicon acrylate was within the range of 0-3 wt%. The extent of photo-polymerization reaction as a function of depth from the air interface was obtained from the conversion ratio of acrylate double bond calculated from the intensities of measured bands at $1410cm^{-1}$ and at $1635cm^{-1}$. Micro raman spectroscopic technique can be an useful tool for the investigation of the factors, which can affect the reaction progress, such as oxygen inhibition, composition of the formulations, depth, etc.

Raman analyzer is an analytical technique that utilizes the "Raman effect", which occurs when light is scattered by the inherent vibrations of molecules. It is used for molecular identification and composition analysis. In the natural gas industry, it is widely used in bunkering and tank lorry fields in addition to LNG export and import terminals. In this study, a LNG-specific Raman analyzer was installed and operated under actual field conditions to analyze the composition and principal properties (calorific value, reference density, etc.) of LNG. The measured LNG composition and calorific value were compared with those obtained by conventional gas chromatograph that are currently in operation and validated. The test results showed that the Raman analyzer provided rapid and stable measurements of LNG composition and calorific value. When comparing the calorific value, which serves as the basis for LNG transactions, with the results from conventional gas chromatograph, the Raman analyzer met the acceptable error criteria. Furthermore, the measurement results obtained in this study satisfied the accuracy criteria of relevant international standards (ASTM D7940-14) and demonstrated similar outcomes compared to large-scale international demonstration cases.
