  • RAMS is becoming increasingly important in the decision making process for the rolling stock projects in order to improve competitiveness by reducing system life cycle cost while improving reliability, availability, maintainability and safety. In order to apply and manage RAMS of rolling stock systems effectively in the operator perspective, it is essential to integrate and control RAMS systematically from the early stage of rolling stock projects. RAMS management is to implement a RAMS system into rolling stock projects in terms of a rolling stock operator, which presents the strategic directions of RAMS policy, objectives, requirements, control, analysis, measurement and improvement throughout life cycle of rolling stock projects. This article presents a new framework of RAMS management that provides an effective and efficient way for managing RAMS in rolling stock systems in the railway industry.

  • Revision and establish of KS(Korean Standards) is currently actively discussed. It is just the time for a new world class standards under the new system with WTO(World Trade Organization). This paper is a part of "Researchs on the Standards in Railway rolling stock Field", as one of KS establish projects. The aim of this study is to define the requirements of railway rolling stock-designs, manufacture, and test methods for automatic complex coupler. In the former KS, there is no items matched with this purpose. Therefore a new part of KS is proposed.

  • Air spring for railway rolling-stock is a part of secondary suspension system which play the role of supporting load, damping vibration. Recently, air springs are actively applied to railway rolling-stock to substitute coil spring with upgrading the manufacturing skill. This study is started to get the fundamental datum related to air spring for the purpose of developing the test draft for air spring. To analyze the performance of air spring, we conducted the simulation for railway rolling-stock applied air spring and tested train in convention lines. Thus, we have obtained useful datum to develop the test draft for air spring. Here, we describe some results.

  • Air spring for railway rolling stock is a part of secondary suspension system, which is supporting load, damping vibration. 사각 단면을 갖는 철도차량 주위의 3차원 유동해석 (Three-Dimensional Flow Analysis around Rolling Stock with Square Cross Section Using Low Re ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$)

  • Three-dimensional numerical study is performed for the flow analysis around the rolling stock with square cross section (Mugungwha train model). The height (H) of rolling stock is considered as the characteristic length and the total length of rolling stock is 40 which correspond to 1/2 unit of rolling stock. The gap between the surface and rolling stock is 0.17H which is average value. The relative velocity between the surface and rolling stock is assumed to be zero and Re=10,000 based on the characteristic length. Low Re ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$[15] is employed for the calculation of turbulence which resolve all the way to the solid surface (laminar sub-layer). Large flow separation occurred at the front head of train and a pair of vortex is generated on both top and side of rolling stock. The behavior of vortices on the top of the rolling stock is believed to affect the performance of the pantograph which should be intensively investigated. The difference between the high pressure in the front stagnation region of train and the low pressure in the rear separated region causes a large pressure drag. A large pair or vortex are generated in the rear of train and the size of vortex is increased more than the size of cross section of train.

  • This study was started to develop maintenance technology for wheel tread suitable domestic railway environment. As a pre-study to develop optima] wheel tread, we analyzed the wear characteristics of wheel tread that is being applied to railway rolling-stock in KNR. To analyze wheel wear characteristics. we have conducted the simulation and experiment for passenger rolling-stock and obtained useful datum. Here, we describe some results.

  • 2010년 이전 국책연구과제는 국책연구기관이 민간산업계의 요구사항 위주로 전문기관에 제안하여 수행함에 따라 사용자(운영기관 및 고객)의 불편사항이 지속적으로 제기되었으나 현재 사용자가 제시한 의견을 반영할 수 있도록 연구관련 제도가 개선되는 추세다. 본 논문은 도시철도/경량전철 차량의 핵심부품 및 장치에 관한 기술고도화 및 원천기술 확보를 위한 과제 도출기법에 관하여 연구하였다. 도시철도/경량전철 차량과 연관된 이해당사자 그룹(지방정부, 운영기관, 연구기관, 학계, 산업계, 등)에 관한 정의, 차량전문가에 관한 정의와 설문항목 설계를 위한 기법 적용은 객관성, 공정성, 형평성 확보를 위해 델파이 기법을 적용하여 설계 및 검증하고자 하였다. 또한, 기획연구과제 도출 프로세스를 공유함으로써 도시철도/경량전철 차량분야의 이해관계자 그룹 간 의견을 통합하여 이해관계자 그룹의 요구사항을 충족하는 도시철도/경량전철 차량분야 핵심부품 및 장치에 관한 고도화 연구 과제를 도출하고자 하였다.

  • 한국의 철도공장은 철도도입과 함께 설립되었고 근대기 산업건축의 중심이 되었다. 한국 철도공장의 대표적 사례인 용산공장에는 근대기 건물이 다수 현존하는데, 특히 규모를 잘 보존하고 있어 이를 중심으로 근대기 건물의 건축적 특성을 살펴보고자 한다. 한국의 철도공장은 입지조건이 적합한 곳에 건립되었고, 작업공정에 따른 시설 배치, 각각의 용도와 기능에 따른 독특한 구조 및 단면 입면의 형태를 갖고 있고 철골구조와 철근콘크리트 구조를 적극 도입하여 구조적 변환기로서의 특성을 보여주고 있다. 따라서 철도공장이 한국 근대 공장건축의 초기적 특성을 갖고 있고 한국 근대기의 산업건축유산으로써, 중요한 가치를 지닌 과제임을 밝히려 한다.
