As the connection between spread footing and pile is very important structural connection, it acts as the inter-loading medium to transfer the rail loads applied by superstructure to ground through the body pile of foundation. The experimental study is the method how to reinforce the pile cap between steel pile and footing utilizing perfobond plate with protruding keys. It were experimented on the compression punching tests and bending moment tests against the vertical loading and horizontal loadings acting on head of steel tube pipe. As a result, the tension capacity of the perfobond plate exhibited the superior performance due to the interlocking or dowel effects by the sheared keys of perfobond plate, and there were showing the sufficient strength and ductile capacity against the bending moment of horizontal loading tests. Therefore, it is judged that "the embedded method of perfobond plate in pile cap and footing" which is utilizing the shear connection of perfobond plate with protruding keys has a sufficient structural stability enough to be replaced with the current specification of reinforced method of pile cap with vertically deformed rebar against the vertical compression loads and bending moments that are able to occur in the combination structure of steel pile and the footing foundation.
This paper presents the results of plate load test and dynamic load test performed to evaluate the performance of geocell which is used to reinforce soft subgrade for high-speed railroad. Efficiency of geocell was observed in the increase in bearing capacity of subgrade and in the reduction of thickness of reinforced sub-ballast. One layer of geocell underlying a 10 cm thick cover soil led to an increase in bearing capacity three to four times larger than that of a crushed stone layer of the same thickness substituted for the geocell and cover soil layer Given the test conditions, the thickness of reinforced sub-ballast can be reduced by approximately 35 cm with the presence of geocell.

Up until now, power centralized trains have been produced due to the maintenance convenience and comfortableness, but there are some problems, such as limitation of viscosity and maintenance difficulty of railroad due to recently increasing axle mass. In order to improve the problems, power decentralized trains have been developed to improve traction power. In the case of using electrical braking system, it is possible to improve braking friction power. Induction motors have been developed for power decentralized high speed train because of less structural defection, and low maintenance and production cost. However, induction motors have limitations, such as assuring enough power capacity and efficiency with reduced size. PMSM (Permanent magnet synchronous motor) have been newly developed to improve shortcomings of induction motors. The PMSM can be produced small and light weighted. Also if the PMSM and induction motors have the same size and power capacity, the PMSM have better power efficiency. In this pater, the prototype and modified type of PMSM for "High-speed Electric Multiple Unit-400km/h eXperimmen" will be introduced.
A Study has been conducted on the characteristics of temperature variation depending on passenger number that is measured in Bundang Line(From Sunleng To Bojong). As a basic study, the air quality of passenger room for the electric rail car is evaluated. Although ISO7730 recommends that the height of measuring points for the heat environment is to set at 0.1m, 0.6m, 1.1m and 1.7m respectively, temperature are measured at two points at 1.1m and 1.7m because of the difficulty to measure temperature of 0.1m height in rush hour. We compared the results of temperature variations between two stations in rush hour(07:56-08:41). In general, the capacity of a passenger car is designed for 160 persons, but over 280 persons often board on electric rail in rush hour. The temperature of room is adjusted from $22^{\circ}C$ to $24^{\circ}C$, but it is measured from $26^{\circ}C$ to $28^{\circ}C$ on average. Therefore, it shows that there are difference between the set temperature and measured one. This article suggests the ways of the time adjusting and air-conditioning to satisfy customer's demand and the guide line to design the optimum capacity of air-conditioner of the new electric rail car which will be introduced in the near future.
In the past decades, complain about ground vibration and noise induced by pile driving has been quickly increased. Because of that, auger drilled piling methods have frequently used specially in urban area. However, the present auger drilled piling methods induce inevitable ground disturbance as well as a certain degree of vibration and noise due to the final hammering. For these reasons, a new auger drilled piling method is required to be developed. This paper introduces PDT(Pulse Discharge Technology) piling method and presents the characteristics of bearing capacity. The PDT piling method is to install in-situ piles using electric power so called Pulse. The pile installed by PDT appears to be able to develop shaft and end bearing capacity efficiently. This paper introduces PDT(Pulse Discharge Technology) piling method, which is the 512nd new construction technology. The PDT piling method is to install in-situ piles using electrical power so called Pulse power. The pulse power is physical value that indicates the energy change per unit time(dE/dt). Since the pulse power is to push ground, using the pulse power is enable a hole to be expanded as well as the ground to be improved by compaction. Therefore, The pile installed by PDT appears to be able to develop shaft and end bearing capacity efficiently. In this study, couples of pile loading tests were carried out to figure out whether or not the PDT piling method is applicable to constructions like rail road facility. As a result, it was concluded that the PDT piling technique meet the requirements for such a rail road related construction.
Centrifuge model tests were used to simulate pile-raft composite foundation and pile-geogrid composite foundation with different pile spacing for researching the time effect of negative skin friction of rigid piles in high-speed railways. The research results show that the negative skin friction has a significant impact on the bearing capacity of composite foundation. Pile-raft composite foundation has higher bearing capacity compared to pile-geogrid composite foundation to reduce the effect of negative skin friction on piles. Both the foundation settlement and negative skin friction have significant time effect. The distribution of skin friction can be simplified as a triangle along the pile. The neutral point position moves deeper in the postconstruction stage at larger pile spacing. For pile-geogrid composite foundation, the setting of pile-cap affects the position of neutral point in the post-construction stage. Reinforced cushion with geotextile may promote the better performance of cushion for transmitting the loads to piles and surrounding soils. Arching effect in the cushion of the composite foundation is a progressive process. The compression of the rigid piles contributes less than 20% to 25% of the total settlement while the penetration of the piles and the compression of the bearing stratum below the pile tips contribute more than 70% of the total settlement. Some effective measures to reduce the settlement of soils need to be taken into consideration to improve the bearing capacity of pile foundation.
Since inaccurate demand estimation for recent urban rail construction may result in financial burden to cities, precise prediction for operating cost as well as construction costs is necessary to avoid or reduce budget loss of the local or central government. The operating cost is directly related to the public fare and affect a policy to determine the rate system. Therefore, there is a pressing need to develop an estimating model for reliable operating cost of urban railway. This study introduces a new model to estimate the operating cost with new variables. It provides a better prediction in accuracy and reliability compared to the existing model, considering the feature of urban railway. For verification of our model, railway operation data from a few cities for the last five years were comprehensively examined to determine variables that affect the operating cost. The operating cost was estimated in a dummy regression model using five independent variables, which were average distance between stations, daily trains distance, total passenger capacity of a train in a train, driving mode(manned/unmanned), and investment type(financial/private).

The slope of an open cut tunnel is located above the exit of the Leijia tunnel on the Changgan high-speed railway. During the excavation of the open cut tunnel foundation pit, the slope slipped twice, a large landslide of 92500 m3 formed. The landslide body and unstable slope body not only caused the foundation pit of the open cut tunnel to be buried and the anchor piles to be damaged but also directly threatened the operational safety of the later high-speed railway. Therefore, to study the stability change in the slope of the open cut tunnel under heavy rain and excavation conditions, a 3D numerical calculation model of the slope is carried out by Midas GTS software, the deformation mechanism is analyzed, anti-sliding measures are proposed, and the effectiveness of the anti-sliding measures is analyzed according to the field monitoring results. The results show that when rainfall occurs, rainwater collects in the open cut tunnel area, resulting in a transient saturation zone on the slope on the right side of the open cut tunnel, which reduces the shear strength of the slope soil; the excavation at the slope toe reduces the anti-sliding capacity of the slope toe. Under the combined action of excavation and rainfall, when the soil above the top of the anchor pile is excavated, two potential sliding surfaces are bounded by the top of the excavation area, and the shear outlet is located at the top of the anchor pile. After the excavation of the open cut tunnel, the potential sliding surface is mainly concentrated at the lower part of the downhill area, and the shear outlet moves down to the bottom of the open cut tunnel. Based on the deformation characteristics and the failure mechanism of the landslides, comprehensive control measures, including interim emergency mitigation measures and long-term mitigation measures, are proposed. The field monitoring results further verify the accuracy of the anti-sliding mechanism analysis and the effectiveness of anti-sliding measures.

In general, bridges are facilities installed for the purpose of easily passing through sections such as valleys and rivers. Railway bridges that run through downtown areas are damaged due to external factors such as earthquakes and collisions with passing vehicles, resulting in serious human casualties. This can cause serious human and properties damage, such as functional paralysis in downtown areas. Depending on the degree of damage, repair work such as partial repair or full replacement is in progress for the bridge where the collision occurred. When damage or deformation occurs due to collision, the repair method is determined according to the degree of deformation and the degree to which the load capacity of the bridge is affected by the deformation. In this study, a numerical analysis review was performed on the repair work for the local deformation caused by the collision of a vehicle on an old railway bridge installed and in operation in an urban area. To this end, a structural safety review of the bridge for local deformations caused by vehicle collisions was conducted. In this paper, a repair method for the accident bridge was presented based on the analysis results.

In this study, structural safety capacity analysis of the overpass railway bridge between Konkuk Univ. and Guui station railroad has been performed. The overpass is expected to have suffered durability reduction by deterioration. The weight reduction of the overpass has been implemented to prevent further durability reduction and to improve performance capacity. To reduce the weight, 3 procedures of replacing concrete soundproofing wall to light-weight soundproofing wall, replacing gravel ballast to concrete ballast, and reducing the weight of trough have been performed. The analysis of static/dynamic behaviors and improved capacity of the light-weighted overpass bridge has been performed. The structural safety verification of the improved structure has been implemented by using rating factors of load carrying capacity of PSC I girder. The results have shown that the deflection has been reduced by 2.6mm and tensile strength has been improved by 1.07MPa, which indicate that the structural capacity has effectively been improved. Also, the natural frequency has improved by approximately 30% where vibration reduction and dynamic behavior improvement have been achieved. Moreover, in the rating factor evaluation based on analysis and test results, an improvement from 1.82 to 1.93 has been observed. Therefore, weight reduction method for the overpass is effective considering overall results.
