Through a year's commercial operation, Korea High Speed Railway has solved defectives from several breakages at the beginning and is going into the stage of stable operation. Among issues, wheel wear becomes a matter of primary concerns in view of vehicle's stability and maintenance. It was understood as above that wear status has been improved in the test by which railway system including vehicles and tracks was stabilized during a year's commercial operation, comparing to that with excessive wear in the trial operation prior to opening to the public. To make out wheel's wear status and characteristics of equivalent conicity at present when the service has been introduced a year ago and the average cumulative mileage of vehicles reach almost 500,000km, wheel's wear types were analyzed with the current vehicles in service.

4D CAD에 의한 건설공사 공정관리시스템은 가상건설기법의 그래픽에 의한 계획일정위주 공정관리에 중점을 두고 있으므로 실제 현장상황의 판단에 의한 진도관리가 어려운부분이 있다. 본 연구는 4D CAD기반의 공정관리에 현장 웹카메라를 갖춘 Telepresence 기법을 이용한 원격현장 실시간 진도관리 모니터링체계를 연동하는 공정관기시스템 개발을 시도하고 있다. 개발된 시스템은 철도시설공사에 적용하여 활용성을 검증하였으며, 4D CAD에 의한 계획 공정현황과 웹카메라에 의한 실시간 실제현장 영상을 비교하여 시각적 진도관리를 가능하게 할 수 있다.

Seoul Metro railway facilities' inspection and maintenance tasks cause failure analysis, but if there is trouble the diverse cause investigation and the systematic analysis and management among broken facilities, related facilities and components fell short and the conditions are different. And, excess and insufficiency, under inspection and maintenance, is being raised regardless of the introduction year and the operating environment including the number of use by applying the same facilities in the uniform inspection cycle. In this study, we will analysis systematically facility system information, failures, operational status, performance, fault and maintenance information resulting from the maintenance management of railway facilities and derive the relationship between associated equipment and its components. In addition, optimizing the inspection and the maintenance cycles of railway facilities, we will improve the reliability of operation. Considering the probability of risk, it is possible to predict the occurrence of accidents or faults and to minimize the frequency of breakdown by pre-inspection maintenance. Finally, This paper is to introduce the content of constructing the Seoul Metro RCM-based failure analysis system for railway facilities to support the optimal continuance of operation status of equipments and the securement of the safe operation of vehicles.

Purpose: Recently, Universal design has been applied to a variety of concepts of social integration in the national legislation and institutions, however, the applying to urban railway station is not satisfied. Most of cases, the handicapped can not work continuously, universal design must be provided. Methods: This study derives the detailed criteria through comparing and analyzing an national and international universal design-related system in transit zone. And the status is investigated in transit zone of domestic urban railway station. Improved national standard requirements are derived considering the type of the handicapped and universal design principles. Result: The domestic status shows that the most lacking entry criteria is not specified in national standards or the design is a lowest-level required by criteria through comparing detailed criteria drawn into domestic analysis. Therefore, in order to provide a pedestrian environment to meet the universal design principles and requirements for the handicapped, there is a need to re-establish with a specific national standards. Implications: This study will draw on universal design standards for seamless transfer in transit zone of urban railway station. The next studies are needed to target the overall paths ranging from outside to landing in urban railway station.

This study is aimed to reflect the current status survey, analysis and response of 10 railway stations using geographical names in one of 19 stations located on Gyeongbu, Honam and Chungbuk line. Most railway stations in the study have shown normal images that are close to the standard type by selecting similar building materials rather than reflecting geographical features. Aside from the shape of the traditional Korean house in Cheongju, almost all newly constructed stations tend to incorporate light gray plating material on their modern exterior to produce Family look design as a railroad station. According to a survey of the sensitivity of the station's name, Osong Station was 73.6 percent, Gyeryong Station 67.3 percent, Heukseok-ri Station was 64.5 percent, Shintan-jin 62.6 percent, and Yeonsan Station 57 percent, more than half. Therefore, the results of the five stations were presented as a calculation and proposed design release focusing on the facades of each station. Each of these stations suggested a way to express the facade design image, considering the railway operation status of Korea Railroad, the area of the station and other surroundings.

Railway in Japan has been changed every apr. 20 years as follows, since the war ended in 1945. Shinkansen which was the first high speed train in the world began to revenue service in 1964, and a national railway authority was privatized segmentally in 1987, and after 20 years later from then, the ticketing service using IC card was accomplished. In this research, we review these changes in Japan in the administrative aspects on railway technology, and R & D aspects of the Railway Technical Research Institute, JR East and JR West which are railway corporations. Also we introduce the present status and future of railway technologies in Japan which railway experts diagnosed. In the twenty-first century, the needs of the times for railway have been enormously changed due to a low birth-rate, an aging society, environmental pollution and energy problems and etc. Because we have very similar problems to them like Japan, we could get lessons from Japanese cases in setting the direction for the development of railway technologies.

Railway noise is one of the main causes of environmental impact. Whenever a new railway line is planned or a housing project near an existing railway is proposed, an estimate of the relevant levels is usually required. For this, it is necessary to quantify those parameters that affect the railway noise. Therefore we investigated the noise and vibration level which 107 high speed trains generated passing through the block of test railway track between Chunan and Chungwon. This paper presents the status and characteristics of the high speed railway noise and an accurate prediction of the high speed railway noise.

As a result, the interest of the related local government and agencies has increased on utilizing disused railway yards. In this study, we investigated the status of the disused railway yards and conducted legal review on the use of disused railway yards. In addition, we analyzed the disused railway yards use practices through case analysis and also suggested plans to diversify the ways of their usage.
