  • This paper is a study of the propagation characteristic of matching liquids in the skin-covered breast model. In order to evaluate the matching liquids, we investigated six kinds of matching liquids applied to proposed 1-D breast model from frequency range of 3~6 GHz. A uniform plane wave is projected / transmitted inside the multi-layered breast model. Then the propagation characteristics inside the model and the transmission loss of each matching liquids were analyzed. The studying method presented in the paper can be used in the breast cancer detection system, the field of cancer detection using human tissue and the field of other medical devices. This paper was applied to the breast cancer detection system. Consequently, these studies could be used to determine the suitable type of matching liquids for breast cancer detection system and to apply useful for performance analysis.

  • Generally, a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE) have been used for the development of high-performance composite EM(ElectroMagnetic) wave absorber. In this study, the EM wave absorption abilities for natural lacquer which is newly suggested in this study as a binder for composite EM wave absorber were investigated to develop an improved EM wave absorber In addition, MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorber mixed with the natural lacquer were prepared and their absorption ability was also investigated. MnZn ferrite composite EM wave absorber which employs the natural lacquer as a binder showed an improved EM wave absorption characteristics in comparison with the conventional binder such as a silicone rubber and a chloride polyethylene(CPE). The matching frequency and the absorption ability of EM wave absorber mixed with natural lacquer can be controled the change of the thickness of them.

  • Ubiquitous is an information communication environment which peoples could connect on network without being conscious of the network and computer condition at anytime and anywhere. Presently, advanced technology, digital cities and eco-friendly cities using Ubiquitous technology are being focused through out the world. As recent information industry and communication technology have developed remarkably, studies on intelligent structures and structural maintenance methods by combining a general idea of connecting all objects on network by interpolating computers which is called Ubiquitous Computing, and USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) are being attempted. In this paper, a basic experiment on penetration of RF(Radio Frequency) sensor nodes using an experimental sample setting concrete and reinforcing bar as variables is studied to estimate the possibility of applying wireless sensor networks in structures. The spring of reinforcing bars, concrete thickness, intensity of radio frequency were set up as variables, transmitting and receiving distance were checked vertically and horizontally. Moreover, Spectrum Analyzer was used for checking the magnitude of the frequency used in order to measure the reduction of radio wave exactly. The radio wave reduction was numerically analyzed, and the influence of the wavelength was analysed as well. As a result, the penetration depth in concrete without reinforcing bars was 45cm, and in reinforced concretes which reinforcing bars placed at spacing of 5cm and 15cm, the penetration depth were 37cm and 45cm each. No influence on radio wave penetration depth were found when the spacing of reinforcing bars in the reinforced concrete structures becomes over 15cm.

  • In mobile radio communication system involving geostationary satellites the field intensity of electromagnetic wave varies with frequency shape and location of an obstacle between a tramamitter and a receiver. In this paper a ring type obstacle between the propagation paths is presented. On the basis of Fresnel diffraction theory, the field intensity varying with ring-type obstacle’s radius is obtained by computer simulation.]

  • CRL (Communications Research Laboratory, Independent Administrative Institution, Japan) is developing ITS wireless communication technologies in millimeter-wave frequency region. Technologies are categorized for inter-vehicle communications (IVC) and road-vehicle communications (RVC). In this paper, system concepts and the experimental facilities are introduced. The experimental facility for inter-vehicle communications is gotten ready in 60 GHz frequency region and the experimental system for road-vehicle communications is based on RoF (Radio on Fiber) technology in 36-37GHz frequency region.

  • Simulation method for a pure radio-frequency (rf) mode of reflection-type and a pure rf mode of transmission-type radio-frequency single-electron transistor (RF-SET) operation is introduced. In this method, the solutions of differential equations based on Kirchhoff's law are obtained self-consistently at frequency-domain. Also, the steady-sate single-electron transistor (SET) current model and the time-dependent SET current model are used in this method. The reflected wave of a typical reflection-type RF-SET and the transmitted wave of a typical transmission-type RF-SET are calculated, and the accuracy of our developed method including the steady-state SET current model is verified with the method introduced by reference 2. At high frequency over GHz, results of our developed method including the time-dependent SET current model are considerably different from that including the steady-state SET current model. At high frequency over GHz, an exact time-dependent SET current model is needed to analyze RF-SET operation.

  • In this paper, a technique is presented f3r the design of a structurally simple narrow-band orthomode transducer (OMT) operating at 12/14 GHz frequency bands. The proposed OMT has such a structure that a horizontally polarized wave incident on the circular waveguide of the common port is directed to the rectangular waveguide of the straight port, while the vertically polarized wave is directed to the rectangular waveguide of the side port. Firstly methods are developed f3r designing individual parts of the OMT based on the waveguide theory and the theory of impedance matching. Secondly based on developed methods the whole OMT structure is designed using a commercial electromagnetic field analysis software. The validity of the proposed design technique is confirmed by fabricating and testing the designed OMT.

  • Available electric wave resources have been limited than frequency demands that increase with the development of radio communication. According to FCC's (Federal Communication Commission) report, 70% of allocated spectrum was unused. This means that the lack phenomenon of electronic wave resources is ineffectively managed compare with the finiteness of frequency resources. According to the recognition of unused frequency within allocated band, this progress has been investigating to identify the unused TV channel and provide radio communication services. This paper proposed the sensing algorithm that efficiently recognizes the frequency resources which does not use and shares with the licensed user through using the multi-band CIC (Cascaded Integrator Comb) filter based on polyphase filter bank. The simulation results verifies that the proposed scheme can obtain the similar performance of variance and relatively low complexity to the existing scheme.

  • In this study, we present geometrical and kinematical analysis of Moreton wave observed in 2012 June 3rd and July 6th, recorded in H-${\alpha}$ images of Global Oscillation Network Group (GONG) archive. These large-scale waves exhibit different features compared to each other. The observed wave of June 3rd has angular span of about $70^{\circ}$ with a diffuse wave front associated to NOAA active region 11496. It was found that the propagating speed of the wave at 17:53 UT is about $931{\pm}80km/s$. The broadness nature of this Moreton wave can be interpreted as the vertical extension of the wave over the chromosphere. On the other hand, the wave of July 6th associated with X1.1 class are that occurred at 23:01 UT in AR NOAA11515. From the kinematical analysis, the wave propagated with the initial velocity of about $994{\pm}70km/s$ which is in agreement with the speed of coronal shock derived from type II radio burst, v ~ 1100 km/s. These two identified waves add the inventory of the large-scale waves observed in 24th Solar Cycle.

  • This paper presents the design and fabrication of a cost effective and broad band 8$\times$8 stacked patch array antenna which are backed by a metal cavity operating at 400Hz based on 4 layers LTCC technology. Gain of antenna can be enhanced by using a metal cavity, which can be easily implemented by using LTCC substrates and vias. The broadband performance can be obtained by varying the dimension of patch and the number of layers. Furthermore, to keep the feeding network as smal1 as possible and reduce radiation from feeding network a mirrored patch orientation and embedded micro strip line are adopted, The fabricated antenna is $40\times45\times0.4$ $mm^3$in size. It shows gain 20.4dBi, beam width 10.7deg and impedance bandwidth of l0dE return loss 3.35GHz (40.9$\sim$44.25 GHz), which is about 8% of a center frequency.
