The hybrid air-conditioner, where air is cooled both by convection and radiation, is developed. The indoor unit of the air-conditioner consists of radiation panel and dehumidification coil, where refrigeration R-134a is supplied by independent refrigeration cycles. Optimum refrigerant charge was 750g for both cycles. Optimum evaporation pressure was 3.7 bar for the radiation panel cycle and 3.9 bar for the dehumidification cycle. The cooling capacity of the radiation panel was 1.01 kW and that of the dehumidification coil was 0.94kW, which yielded COP of 3.3.
The verified thermal efficiency, thermal capacity confirmed the effects of the cooling system. Therefore, it is useful for preventing the PV cell temperature rising when solar radiation accumulates in summer. When adopting a hybrid panel for the BIPV system, the affected areas include the vertical outside walls facing the south, southeast, and southwest on the curtain walls excluding windows. The standards on replace aluminum panel which were the popular exterior material were investigated, Designing practice made sure that it could be manufactured in various sizes, and confirmed the most proper method to install a hybrid panel in the BIPV system.

In order to saving the energy for HVAC system of buildings, utilization of wind-induced cross ventilation is thought to be promising. However, utilization of natural ventilation alone is not sufficient for maintaining the human thermal-comfort such as in hot and humid regions. A hybrid air conditioning system with a controlled natural ventilation system, or combination of natural ventilation with mechanical air conditioning is thought to overcome the deficiency of wind-driven cross ventilation and to have significant effects on energy reduction. This paper describes a concept of hybrid system and propose a new type of hybrid system using radiational cooling with wind-induced cross ventilation. Moreover, a radiational cooling system is compared with an all-air cooling system. The characteristics of the indoor environment will be examined through CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation, which is coupled with a radiation heat transfer simulation and with HVAC control in which the PMV value for the human model in the center of the room is controlled to attain the target value.
Comparative maps, representing chromosomal locations of homologous genes in different species, are useful sources of information for identifying candidate disease genes and genes determining complex traits. They facilitate gene mapping and linkage prediction in other species, and provide information on genome organization and evolution. Here, the current gene mapping and comparative mapping status of the major livestock species are presented. Two techniques were widely used in comparative mapping: FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) and PCR-based mapping using somatic cell hybrid (SCH) or radiation hybrid (RH) panels. New techniques, using, for example, ESTs (Expressed Sequence Tags) or CASTS (Comparatively Anchored Sequence Tagged Sites), also have been developed as useful tools for analyzing comparative genome organization in livestock species, further enabling accurate transfer of valuable information from one species to another.

While a dash panel component, close to passengers, plays a very important role to protect heat and noise from a power train, it is also a main path that transfers vibration energy and eventually radiates acoustic noise into the cavity. Therefore, it is important to provide optimal design schemes incorporating sound packages such as a dash isolation pad and a floor carpet, as well as structures. The present study is the extension of the previous investigation how design variables affect sound radiation, which was carried out using the simple plate and framed system. A novel FE-SEA hybrid simulation model is used for this study. The system taken into account is a dash panel component of a sedan vehicle, which includes front pillars, front side members, a dash panel and corresponding sound packages. Design variables such as panel thicknesses and sound packages are investigated how they are related to two main NVH indexes, sound radiation power(i.e. structure-borne) and sound transmission loss(i.e. air borne). In the viewpoint of obtaining better NVH performance, it is shown that these two indexes do not always result in same tendencies of improvement, which suggests that they should be dealt with independently and are also dependent on frequency regions.

Recently, hybrid air-conditioning system has been proposed and applied to achieve building energy saving. One example is a system combining radiation panel with natural wind-induced cross-ventilation. However, few research works have been conducted on the non-uniformity of thermal comfort in such hybrid air-conditioning system. In this paper, both thermal environment and non-uniform thermal comfort of human thermal model under various air-conditioning system, including hybrid system, were evaluated in a typical office room using coupled simulation of computation fluid dynamics, radiation model and a human thermal model. The non-uniformity of thermal comfort was evaluated from the deviation of surface temperature of human thermal model. Flow fields and temperature distribution in each case were represented.
A human-specific retroposon SINE-R.C2 has been derived from a human endogenous retrovirus HER V-K 10. It is absent in the genome of nonhuman primates and present within the third intron of the human C2 gene that is located in the class III region of the major histocompatibility complex. In the present study, we determined the regional location of the human C2 gene. The analysis of the Genebridge 4 radiation hybrid mapping panel using PCR amplification located the C2 gene between D6S1422 (10.1 cR) and CHLC.GATA4A03 (21.3) with a lod score of>3.0. This allowed us to localize C2 gene on the human chromosome 6 band p21.31.

guanidinoacetate methyltransferase (GAMT) catalyzes the last step of creatine biosynthesis in mammals. Creatine plays an important role in cellular energy metabolism in variety of tissues including brain and male reproductive tract. Congenital deficiency of the enzyme leads to a neurologic disorder in humans. We used an interspecific backcross DNA panel to map Gamt to the central region of mouse Chromosome (Chr) 10 near the locus of hesitant mutation affecting male fertility. We assigned the human GAMT gene to Chr 19 by PCR analysis of a human/rodent somatic hybrid cell line DNA panel, and further localized the human gene to Chr 19 at band p13.3 by PCR analysis of a human radiation hybrid DNA panel. Human chr 19p13.3 is homologous to the central part of mouse Chr 10 where mouse Gamt is located. Furthermore, this part of mouse Chr 10 contains mutant loci the phenotype of which is similar to the GAMT deficiency in human.

Radiation cooling has used ceilings or floors as cooling surfaces. In such cases, to avoid moisture condensation on the surface, the surface temperature needs be higher than the dew point temperature or an additional dehumidifier is added. In this study, with a goal for residential application, intentional moisture condensation on the cooling surface was attempted, which increased the cooling capacity and improved the indoor comfortness. This method included two separate refrigeration cycles - convection-type dehumidifying cycle and the panel cooling cycle. Test results on the panel cooling cycle showed that, at the standard outdoor ($35^{\circ}C/24^{\circ}C$) and indoor ($27^{\circ}C/19.5^{\circ}C$) condition, the refrigerant flow rate was 8.8 kg/h, condensation temperature was $51^{\circ}C$, evaporation temperature was $8.8^{\circ}C$, cooling capacity was 376 W and COP was 1.75. Furthermore, the panel temperature was uniform within $1^{\circ}C$ (between $13^{\circ}C$ and $14^{\circ}C$). As the relative humidity decreased, the cooling capacity decreased. However, the power consumption remained approximately constant. In the convection-type dehumidification cycle, the refrigerant flow rate was 21.1 kg/h, condensation temperature was $61^{\circ}C$, evaporation temperature was $5.0^{\circ}C$, cooling capacity was 949 W and COP was 2.11 at the standard air condition. When both the radiation panel cooling and the dehumidification cycle operated simultaneously, the cooling capacity of the radiation panel cycle was 333 W and that of the dehumidification cycle was 894 W, and the COP was 1.89. As the fan flow rate decreased, both the cooling capacity of the radiation panel and the dehumidification cycle decreased, with that of the dehumidification cycle decreasing at a higher rate. Finally, a possible control logic depending on the change of the cooling load was proposed based on the results of the present study.

This paper describes a hybrid multi-output three-level DC/DC converter suitable for a wide, high-input voltage range of an auxiliary power supply for a high-power photovoltaic generating system. In a high-power photovoltaic generating system, the solar panel output voltage depends on solar radiation quantity and varies from 450Vdc to 1100Vdc. The proposed hybrid multi-output three-level DC/DC converter, which is an auxiliary power supply, would be used as power source for control printed circuit boards and relay and cooling fans in a high-power photovoltaic generating system. The proposed multi-output ($24V_{DC}/30A$, $230V_{DC}/5A$) hybrid three-level boost converter, which uses an energy recovery snubber, is controlled by variable-frequency and phase-shifted modulations and can achieve zero-voltage switching with all operating conditions of input voltage and load range. Experimental results of a 2kW prototype are evaluated and implemented to verify the performance of the proposed converter.
