  • In this study, three dimensional X-ray dose distribution from dental X-ray generator system was measured by ALOKA PDM-117 dosimeter. The X-ray dose distribution will be change with XCP-DS FIT in oral shot, because the distance between X-ray generator and the dosimeter. The X-ray dose change affects on patient exposure and radiograph image quality. Therefore, it is important to obtain relation between the X-ray dose and the distance. The X-ray dose at the central position was decreased with increasing the distance. Furthermore, the dose at the edge of the X-ray flux was increased with increasing the distance. The increased dose affects on the patient radiation exposure. The present results will provide for good dental radiograph image and reducing radiation over-exposure on patient.

  • In order to make a match of the insufficient direct solar radiation, in this study, the target output is lowered to 9 kW smaller than 25 kW in former studies. It is also necessary to match the collector/receiver with engine/generator systems to accomplish the power level of a system. The simulation analyses of a dish solar power system with stirling engine are totally carried out to predict the system performance with the designed values. In addition, an influence of direct solar radiation on system performance and operation control is discussed in simulation. It is found that the diameter of concentrator could be made small to 8 m regardless of slope errors with 2.5 and 5.0 mrad radiation, and the operation range of mean pressure control. is wide even if the direct solar radiation is a quit low.

  • This paper proposes a probabilistic generation assessment model of renewable energy generators(REGs) considering uncertainty of resources, mainly focused on Wind Turbine Generator(WTG) and Solar Cell Generator(SCG) which are dispersed widely in South Korea The proposed numerical analysis method assesses the one day-ahead generation by combining equivalent generation characteristics function and probabilistic distribution function of wind speed(WS) and solar radiation(SR) resources. The equivalent generation functions(EGFs) of the wind and solar farms are established by grouping a lot of the farms appropriately centered on Weather Measurement Station(WMS). First, the EGFs are assessed by using regression analysis method based on typical least square method from the recorded actual generation data and historical resources(WS and SR). Second, the generation of the REGs is assessed by adding the one day-ahead resources forecast, announced by WMS, to the EGFs which are formulated as third order degree polynomials using the regression analysis. Third, a Renewable Energy Generation Assessment System(REGAS) including D/B of recorded actual generation data and historical resources is developed using the model and algorithm predicting one day-ahead power output of renewable energy generators.

  • By using the buildup characteristics of the radiophotoluminescence glass dosimeter(RPLGD), it is aimed to help the measurement of the accurate dose by measuring the radiation dose according to the time of the glass element. Five glass elements were arranged on the table and the source to image receptor distance(SID) was set to 100 cm for the build-up radiation dose measurement of the fluorescent glass dosimeter glass element(GD-352M). Radiation doses and saturation rates were measured over time according to irradiation time, with the tube voltage (30, 60, 90 kVp) and tube current (50, 100 mAs) Repeatability test was repeated ten times to measure the coefficient of variation. The radiation dose increased from 0.182 mGy to 12.902 mGy and the saturation rate increased from 58.3% with increasing exposure condition and time. The coefficient of variation of the glass elements of the fluorescent glass dosimeter was ranged from 0.2 to 0.77 according to the X - ray exposure conditions. X - ray exposure showed that the radiation dose and saturation rate were increased with buildup characteristics, and degeneration of glass elements was not observed. The reproducibility of the variation coefficient of the radiation generator was included within the error range and the reproducibility of the radiation dose was excellent.

  • Maintenance on the water chamber of steam generator, the change of pressurizer heater, the removal of pressure tube feeder, and so on during outage in nuclear power plants (NPPs) has a likelihood of high radiation exposure to whole body of workers even short time period due to the high radiation exposure rates. In particular, it is expected that hands would receive the highest radiation exposure because of its contact with radiation materials. In this study, field tests on extremity dose assessment of radiation workers for contact works with high radiation exposure were conducted during the maintenance periods in Korean pressurized water reactors (PWRs) and pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWRs). In this field test, radiation workers were required to wear additional TLDs on the back and wrist, and an extremity dosimeter on fingers including a main TLD on the chest, while performing maintenance. As a result, it was found that the equivalent dose for fingers was distributed in the fixed range of deep dose and the equivalent dose for wrists.

  • A lot of radiation exposure for radiation workers who are engaged in Nuclear Power Plants, especially PWRs, have been caused during the outage by CRUD, such as $^{58}Co$, $^{60}Co$, in Reactor Coolant System. And therefore we need to know source terms to achieve optimization of protection for the radiation workers from radiation exposure at Nuclear Power Plants efficiently. This study analyzed source terms at domestic NPPs (PWRs) nearby Steam Generator with CZT semiconductor detector using by IN-VIVO method during the outage for the first time in the country. We checked difference for the detected source terms between old and new NPP. It was performed especially to see a change of source terms by water chemistry process as well. There was not any difference by water chemistry process both NPPs. The main source terms are $^{58}Co$ and $^{60}Co$ at all NPPs. $^{59}Fe$ only appears in the new NPP. $^{137}Cs$ and $^{95}Zr$ are shown in the old NPP. The fraction of $^{58}Co/^{60}Co$ in the new NPP is higher than the old NPP for increasing the specific activity of $^{60}Co$.

  • Recently, Due to the increased industry using radiation inspection equipment in the semiconductor, this demand of technology research is increasing. Although semiconductor inspection equipment is using low energy X-ray from 40 keV to 120 keV, Studies of radiation damage about the low energy X-ray are lacking circumstance in our country. Therefore, It is study that BJT (bipolar junction transistor) of one type of semiconductor elements are received radiation damage by low energy X-ray. BJT were used to the NXP semiconductor company's BC817-25 (NPN type), and Used the X-ray generator for the irradiation. Radiation damage of BJT was evaluated that confirm to analyse change of collector-emitter voltage of before and after X-ray irradiation when current gain fixed to 10. X-ray generator of tube voltage was setting 40 kVp, 60 kVp, 80 kVp, 100 kVp, 120 kVp and irradiation time was setting 180s, 360s, 540s into 180s intervals. As the result, We confirmed radiation damage in BJT by low energy X-ray under 120 keV energy, and Especially the biggest radiation damage was appeared at the 80 kVp. It is expected that ELDRS (enhanced low dose rate sensitivity) phenomenon occurs on the basis of 80 kVp. This studies expect to contribute effective dose administration of semiconductor inspection equipment using low energy X-ray, Also Research and Development of X-ray filter.

  • Large areas must be rapidly screened to monitor radiation in marine environments. For this purpose, this study developed a mobile real-time gamma-ray measurement system for shipboard use and evaluated its performance. The system was developed to measure engine or generator cooling water by installing a canister inside the ship. The minimum detectable activity of the system is about 0.8 Bq/L for a 60 s measurement period, and real-time data transmission and remote control are possible. The system was tested in the field and is currently being installed and operated on ships in service. Such a ship-based real-time gamma-radiation measurement system is suitable for a wide range of marine radiation surveillance applications and is expected to be rapidly deployed.
