Simulation of the strong clutter occurring from the airborne radar is essential in the efficient development and performance evaluation of the aircraft radar system. If the efficient simulation of the clutter can be successful, algorithms can be proved and analyzed and also the performance evaluation is possible in the laboratory environment. Therefore, development and implementation of the airborne radar system can be achieved very economically in the effective way. However, the clutter simulation procedure is very difficult and tedious since the clutter environment changes in numerous ways as it depends on the flight path, direction of antenna beam, reflectivity of the surface, etc.. Thus, in this paper, the general Doppler spectrum model is suggested for efficient simulation of the various clutter environment. Also, it is shown that the various type of clutter in time domain can be generated easily by changing and adjustment of parameters in the general Doppler spectrum model.

This paper compare with SNR performance of coherent integration and non-coherent integration in radar system. This paper to prevent distortion of transmit signal and radar return in radar system is used to pulsed waveform. This paper to estimate target detection range and to compare with SNR performance used to coherent integration performed before the envelope detector and non-coherent integration processed after the envelope detector. Through simulation, SNR performance of coherent integration and non-coherent integration were comparatively analyzed. SNR performance of coherent integration is good proof higher than non-coherent integration.

Target tracking performance improvement using multi-sensor data fusion is a challenging work. However, biases in the measurements should be removed before various data fusion techniques are applied. In this paper, a bias removing algorithm using measurement data from multi-radar tracking systems is proposed and evaluated by computer simulation. To predict bias estimation performance in various geometric relations between the radar systems and target, a system observability index is proposed and tested via computer simulation results. It is also studied that target tracking which utilizes multi-sensor data fusion with bias-removed measurements results in better performance.

In this paper, we present a signal processing algorithm for a marine radar system, in which the evaluation of probability of collision as well as target detection and tracking are performed. Moreover, the digital signal processor that implements the algorithm is proposed. As simulation environment, a mechanically scanning antenna utilizing FMCW signal is used, conducting the beamforming operation with 1 degrees intervals. Test board consists of DSP chips and FPGA, which enable the implemented system to operate in real-time.
The surface-to-air missile system using Command to Line-Of-Sight (CLOS) guidance law is represented by complex nonlinear differential equations with 6 degree-of-freedom. This paper presents the characterictics of missile system and the effect of various error sources by Monte-Carlo simulation method. By simulation the part of playing a main role in the surface-to-air missile system is radar. Therefore for the performance of missile system the development of the technique reducing the error of radar is required. And the effect of accelerometer error is a few large, too. But, because accelerometer costs cheap this problem is solved easily. And the main error source of missile system data is the thrust, which affects directly to acceleration. The result is the important information about designing and fabricating missile system. And this makes the missile system best because of sharing elaborate and expense effectively.

The compact tracking radar system is a pulsed radar tracking system that searches, detects, and tracks targets in real time against aircraft targets with a small RCS(Radar Cross Section) maneuvering at high speed. This paper describes the development of comprehensive performance test equipment to verify the performance of the radar system in a anechoic chamber environment. Describes the design and manufacture of comprehensive performance test equipment to meet requirements, including the generation of simulated target signals to simulate aircraft target signals to verify performance in the laboratory environment of radar systems. It also describes a GUI(Graphic User Interface) program to check performance through a test in conjunction with the tracking radar system. Verify the comprehensive performance test equipment implemented through the performance test.

A mariner cadet gains the ability to identify and avoid potential collisions with other ships through ARPA/Radar simulation education. This research surveyed first domestic and overseas's rules (e.g., MOMAF's Standard, the STCW Convention, etc.) of the simulation education, upon investigation the only content and timing of this simulation-based education are specified according to these rules, and maritime education institutions issue the related certification autonomously after a student has taken the simulation because no simulation education module exists to further guide the ARPA/Radar simulation. As a result, it is difficult for students to acquire consistent maritime ability through ARPA/Radar simulation. This paper discusses standardization of these education modules to produce more consistent mariner ability, and verify the degree of improvement of education that would be achieved by enacting the proposed education module. The simulation education system used in maritime institutions in Korea was investigated, and scenarios reflecting traffic flow in actual waterways was proposed based on marine traffic surveys so teaching modules can educate/assess more effectively based on core marine abilities. Improvements in education and training were also verified using data collected over 2 years based on a standardized module. Each education institution can enact an effective, systematic education approach using standardized ARPA/Radar education modules proposed in this paper, and this can set a foundation to contribute to safer vessel navigation by improving maritime abilities.

This study describes the design and implementation of a simulated signal generator to demonstrate the performance of VHF band radar for the detection of small targets in RCS(Radar Cross Section). The transmission and reception antenna beam widths used in the simulated signal generating apparatus may be large, which may cause problems in the degree of isolation. Interference signal immunity and isolation characteristics are improved by considering operating conditions of VHF radar to solve isolation of antennas. Simulated signal generator performs the following: VHF radar transmission and reception correction, simulation signal generation, target Doppler, RCS and distance simulation, remote control, and GPS clock synchronization function. After the fabrication of the simulated signal generator, the main characteristics, such as the output characteristics and the reflection signal simulations, were tested. When the microwave radar assembly is completed in the future, it will be utilized for the performance evaluation of VHF radar.
Radar systems are used in remote sensing mainly as space-borne, airborne and ground-based Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), scatterometer and Doppler radar. Those systems are composed of expensive equipments and require expertise and professional skills for operation. Because of the limitation in getting experiences of the radar and SAR systems and its operations in ordinary universities and institutions, it is difficult to learn and exercise essential principles of radar hardware which are essential to understand and develop new application fields. To overcome those difficulties, in this paper, we present the construction and experiment of a low-cost educational radar system based on the blueprints of the MIT Cantenna system. The radar system was operated in three modes. Firstly, the velocity of moving cars was measured in Doppler radar mode. Secondly, the range of two moving targets were measured in radar mode with range resolution. Lastly, 2D images were constructed in GB-SAR mode to enhance the azimuth resolution. Additionally, we simulated the SAR raw data to compare Deramp-FFT and ${\omega}-k$ algorithms and to analyze the effect of antenna positional error for SAR focusing. We expect the system can be further developed into a light-weight SAR system onboard a unmanned aerial vehicle by improving the system with higher sampling frequency, I/Q acquisition, and more stable circuit design.

In this paper, we developed the compact Doppler radar using the compact dual-circularly polarized antenna for medical application. The operating frequency is 2.47 GHz for considering ISM band. In order to decrease the size of the entire system, we designed the compact antenna and located the circuit board at the back of the antenna. The simulation of the proposed antenna was performed by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The total volume of the proposed system is $65{\times}45{\times}6mm^3$ including the antenna. From the experiment, the developed bio-radar could be used to support the device for medical applications.
