Design and Performance Test of a Rotary Actuator for Side Tilting Excavator Bucket (좌우 틸팅이 가능한 굴삭기 버켓용 로터리 액츄에이터 설계 및 시험)

  • Generally, a working excavator has only one directional bucket tilting angle, which is up-forward. However, side direction rotation of the bucket would allow variety of working output. We designed a hydraulic rotary actuator comprising a double rod hydraulic cylinder with a rack-pinion gear set for use in excavator bucket with side tilting mechanism, thus converting the linear to angular motion. The proposed side tilting rotary actuator was designed with parts suitable for medium size of heavy duty excavator. These mechanical parts were inexpensive to purchase and the manufacturing cost was reasonable. The proposed mechanism is potentially useful for excavator with variety of working output.

  • This paper describes the experimental investigation of steel pallet rack beam-to-column connec-tions. Total behavior of moment-rotation (M-φ) curve and the effect of particular characteristics on the behavior of connection were studied and the associated load strain relationship and corre-sponding failure modes are presented. In this respect, an estimation of SPRBCCs moment and rotation are highly recommended in early stages of design and construction. In this study, a new approach based on Support Vector Machines (SVMs) coupled with discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is designed and adapted to estimate SPRBCCs moment and rotation according to four input parameters (column thickness, depth of connector and load, beam depth,). Results of SVM-WAVELET model was compared with genetic programming (GP) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) models. Following the results, SVM-WAVELET algorithm is helpful in order to enhance the accuracy compared to GP and ANN. It was conclusively observed that application of SVM-WAVELET is especially promising as an alternative approach to estimate the SPRBCCs moment and rotation.

  • EPS(Electrical Power Steering) 시스템은 전동기의 설치 위치에 따라 C-EPS(Column-EPS), R-EPS(Rack-EPS), P-EPS(Pinion-EPS)로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 농업용 UTV 차량에 적용할 수 있는 C-EPS 시스템의 이론적 모델링과 실험시스템의 설계 및 제작, 그리고 시작품의 실험을 통하여 조향제어 성능을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper author develops digital governor for medium speed diesel engine. The system is composed of MPU main control module RPM measuring module PWM driving module driver module for F.O. rack drive motor key pad and display module. Experiment results of speed control on 6cyl 1800pm 250kw Daewoo MAN diesel erigine were satisfied for design speci-fications and system could be developed for commercial usage after taking more experiments and endurance tests under various environments.

  • AS/RS(Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems) has inflexibility in change after implementation and its initial cost is very high. Therefore, the proper and correct design of AS/RS is needed at the planning stage. Cost and performance are one of the most important factors in AS/RS design. There is a trade-off relationship between them. Velocity and number of stacker cranes have a deep relationship with performance of AS/RS. In this study, a model and a heuristic algorithm for finding optimal rack volumes and velocities of stacker for design of AS/RS are proposed with a numerical example.

  • This paper presents a design and characteristics analysis of a SRM drive for EPS application. A rack mounted EPS system is considered in this paper. A conventional driving room space and mechanical structure are suggested in design stage. In the restricted design conditions, motor parameters are determined for sufficient torque and speed. For the smooth torque generation and simple circuit of power system, 12/8 motor drive is considered. With FEM and magnetic circuit analysis, designed motor is simulated to meet the requirement of specifications. Effectiveness of the suggested SRM drive for EPS application is verified by the manufactured prototype motor drive tests.

  • Under 'The Design Street' Project, one of the urban environment improvement projects of Seoul, the facilities on the street have been greatly varied in terms of design. In addition, the municipal authority has pushed each district to develop its own identity based on the integrated design of the city. This study was aimed to propose a design which could solve the current problem in street furniture in terms of environmental improvement through an analysis on current street conditions in "Y" District as a part of Seoul Design Street Project. It has attempted to propose 11 street furnitures based on the basic strategy of 'Soft City' which has been promoted by Seoul City in accordance with the Seoul Public Facility Guidelines as 1. Airy Design, 2. Integrated Design, 3. Collaborative Design and 4. Sustainable Design. Among them, for the total design in Seoul six facilities - kiosk, manhole, traffic signal controller, public phone, road sign and waste receptacle were proposed by Seoul City have been accepted. For local differentiation, on the contrary, five items - planter bench, bollard, lifter, bike rack and fence have been newly designed and proposed. Furthermore, it is essential to carry out systematic supervision and continuous management on the detail design and construction of current regional design development projects.

  • A fire extinguishing system for a rack warehouse was recently designed, which only consider the gross area and number of stories. However, the design of such a system should take into account not only the planar structuree, but also the elevation perspectives due to its vertical structure. Moreover, the fire load of the commodities palletized on the racks should be considered, in order to design a performance-based fire safety system that is appropriate for these environmental conditions. For this reason, this study analyzed the fire characteristics of the commodities palletized on the racks (pallet + the commodities in a box unit + vinyl packing material), taking into consideration the results of a field investigation conducted in Korea, as well as the Hazard Classifications of Commodities used in other countries. Through this analysis, the heat release rate (HRR) and smoke production rate (SPR) were derived.

  • A triboelectric nanogenerator is a promising energy harvester operated by the combined mechanism of electrostatic induction and contact electrification. It has attracting attention as eco-friendly and sustainable energy generators by harvesting wasting mechanical energies. However, the power generated in the natural environment is accompanied by low frequencies, so that the output power under such input conditions is normally insufficient amount for a variety of industrial applications. In this study, we introduce a non-contact rotational triboelectric nanogenerator using pedaling and gear systems (called by P-TENG), which has a mechanism that produces high power by using rack gear and pinion gear when a large force by a pedal is given. We design the system can rotate the shaft to which the rotor is connected through the conversion of vertical motion to rotational motion between the rack gear and the pinion gear. Furthermore, the system controls the one directional rotation due to the engagement rotation of the two pinion gears and the one-way needle roller bearing. The TENG with a 2 mm gap between the rotor and the stator produces about the power of 200 ㎼ and turns on 82 LEDs under the condition of 800 rpm. We expect that P-TENG can be used in a variety of applications such as operating portable electronics or sterilizing contaminated water.
