Open raceway pond에서 배양된 Nannochloropsis oceanica로부터 오일 추출 및 SO42-/HZSM-5를 이용한 바이오디젤 전환 (Oil Extraction from Nannochloropsis oceanica Cultured in an Open Raceway Pond and Biodiesel Conversion Using SO42-/HZSM-5)

  • In this study, microalgal oil was extracted from Nannochloropsis oceanica cultured in an open raceway pond and converted into biodiesel using a solid acid catalyst. Microalgal oil was extracted from two types of microalgae with and without nitrogen starvation using the KOH-solvent extraction method and the fatty acid content and oil extraction yield from each microalgae were compared. The fatty acid content of N. oceanica was 184.8 mg/g cell under basic conditions, and the oil content increased to 340.1 mg/g under nitrogen starvation conditions. Oil extraction yields were 90.8 and 95.4% in the first extraction, and increased to 97.5 and 98.8% after the second extraction. Microalgal oil extracted by KOH-solvent extraction was yellow in color and had reduced viscosity due to chlorophyll removal. In biodiesel conversion using the catalyst SO42-/HZSM-5, solvent-extracted oil showed a FAME content of 4.8%, while KOH-solvent-extracted oil showed a FAME content of 90.4%. Solid acid catalyst application has been made easier by removal of chlorophyll from microalgal oil. The FAME content increased to 96.6% upon distillation, and the oxidation stability increased to 11.07 h with addition of rapeseed biodiesel and 1,000 ppm butylated hydroxyanisole.

미세조류 옥외 배양시스템을 이용한 도시하수 정화 및 미생물 군집다양성 분석 (Municipal Wastewater Treatment and Microbial Diversity Analysis of Microalgal Mini Raceway Open Pond)

  • 미세조류는 광합성을 통하여 바이오디젤과 같은 부가가치상품을 생산할 수 있으며, 미세조류를 이용한 생명공학 기술이 주목 받고 있다. 그러나 질소원과 탄소원은 미세조류 배양 비용을 높여 충분한 바이오매스 생산에 제한요소가 되고 있다. 미세조류를 배양하는데 도시하수를 이용하는 것은 생산단가를 낮추는 좋은 대안이 될 수 있으며, 본 연구에서는 옥외 수질정화 배양 시스템(mini raceway open pond)을 이용하여 적용했다. 실험에 사용한 도시하수는 하수종말처리장의 1차 침전지를 거친 유입수를 이용하였으며, 토착 미세조류를 mini raceway open pond에서 배양하였다. 체류시간 6일의 운전 후 TN, TP, COD-$_{Mn}$, $NH_3$-N의 평균 제거 효율은 80.18%, 63.56%, 76.34%, 96.74%로 각각 나타났다. 18S rRNA gene 분석결과 녹조류인 Chlorella, Scenedesmus가 우점하였으며, 16S rRNA gene 분석결과 Rhodobacter, Luteimonas, Agrobacterium, Thauera, Porphyrobacte의 5종의 bacteria가 동정되었다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 미세조류를 이용한 호기성 처리나 과도한 발전비용 없이 효과적인 하수처리를 할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 그리고 도시하수는 미세조류 배양에 필요한 탄소원과 질소원을 제공할 수 있으며 미세조류 바이오매스는 상업적 목적으로 이용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 에너지 소비의 증가와 화석 연료의 감소로 인해 바이오디젤과 같은 재생 가능한 대체 에너지 자원이 관심을 받고 있다. 미세조류를 이용한 바이오디젤은 기존의 농작물과 경쟁하지 않는 것과 더불어 많은 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 미세조류 배양의 생산 비용 절감과 축산 폐수 처리라는 두 가지 목표를 충족시키지 위해 돈분 액체 비료를 사용하였다. 옥외 배양 시스템(Small Scale Raceway Pond; SSRP)과 희석된 돈분 액체 비료를 이용하여 단일 미세조류 Chlorella sp. JK2, Scenedesmus sp. JK10 과 혼합 토착 미세조류 CSS를 20일 동안 각각 배양하였다. 미세조류 혼합균주인 CSS의 바이오매스 생산과 지질 생산성은 각각 $1.19{\pm}0.09gL^{-1}$, $12.44{\pm}0.38mgL^{-1}day^{-1}$로 단일 종에 비해 2배 이상 높았다. 돈분 액체 비료의 TN, TP의 제거율 역시 혼합 토착 미세조류 CSS에서 93.6%, 98.5%로 단일 종의 이용에 비해 30%이상 높은 제거 효율을 보여주었다. 이를 통해 돈분 액체 비료는 미세조류 배양에 필요한 N과 P를 제공하며, 미세조류를 이용한 SSRP를 통하여 영양염류를 제거할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 또한 미세조류 배양을 위한 생산 비용의 감소로 경제성 있는 바이오디젤의 생산 가능성을 확인하였다.

볼 베어링의 구름 요소 주위 유동 특성에 대한 해석 (Analysis of Fluid Flow Characteristics Around Rolling Element in Ball Bearings)

  • Various bearings such as deep-groove ball bearings, angular-contact ball bearings, and roller bearings are used to support the load and to lubricate between the shaft and the housing. The bearings of potential rolling systems in a turbo pump are the deep-groove ball bearings as comparing with the bearings with rolling elements such as cylindrical rollers, tapered cylindrical rollers, and needle rollers. The deep-groove ball bearings consist of rolling elements, an inner raceway, an outer raceway and a retainer that maintain separation and help to lubricate the rolling element that is rotating in the raceways. In the case of water-lubricated ball bearings, however, fluid friction between the ball and raceways is affected by the entry direction of flow, rotation speed, and flow rate. In addition, this friction is the key factor affecting the bearing life cycles and reliability. In this paper, the characteristics of flow conditions corresponding to a deep-groove ball bearing are investigated numerically, with particular focus on the friction distribution on the rolling element, in order to extend the analysis to the area that experiences solid friction. A simple analysis model of fluid flow inside the water-lubricated ball bearing is analyzed with CFD, and the flow characteristics at high rotation speeds are presented.

열간단조 후 고주파 유도경화에 의해 제조된 휠 베어링 유니트용 0.52%C강의 특성과 변태거동 (Characterization and Transformation of 0.52%C steels for Wheel Bearing Units Produced by High Frequency Induction Hardening after Hot Forging)

  • We fabricated flanged outer races for wheel bearing units using 0.52%C clean steels, and then characterized and studied the transformation behavior. The outer races produced by hot forging and high frequency induction hardening in this study were analyzed through microstructural characterization using OM, SEM, TEM, and X-ray diffractometer and their microhardness depth profiles of the raceway contacted by balls were measured using MVH tester. The surface hardened layers with a uniform hardness profile in the raceway consisting of very fine martensite with sub-micron sized retained austenite could be formed for very short time during high frequency induction hardening after hot forging. The very fine martensite may be transformed on rapid cooling, from the inhomogeneous austenite nucleated on rapid heating in small particles of pearlitic cementite fragmentated by hot forging. On the other hand the sub-micron sized retained austenite may be chemically stabilized due to their extremely small size, from the small austenite nucleated at the grain boundaries.

Critical Shoulder Height of Raceway in Ball Bearing Considering Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication

  • In this study, the effects of Elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication pressure on the critical shoulder height of raceway in an angular contact ball bearing were investigated. Both 3D contact analyses using an influence function and the EHL analysis were conducted for the contact geometry between the ball and raceways. The pressure distributions by 3D contact analysis and EHL analysis for an example bearing were compared. The effect of ellipse truncation on the minimum film thickness also investigated from EHL analysis. The critical shoulder height in the dry contact and the EHL state were compared for various applied loads. It is shown that when the ellipse truncation occurs, the pressure spike for the EHL conjunction is higher than that for the dry contact, and its location moves more inward of the contact center. The steep pressure gradients would increase the flow rate, so in order to maintain flow continuity a significant reduction in film thickness and an abrupt rise in pressure occurs in the edge of shoulder. Significant reduction of the minimum film thickness occurs near the edge of shoulder. The critical shoulder heights in the EHL state are calculated as higher values compared with in the dry contact. This results shows that the determination of critical shoulder height by the EHL analysis is more proper.

풍력발전기용 볼 베어링의 단순화 볼 모델을 이용한 해석기법 연구 (A Study on a Finite Element Analysis Method Using Simplified Ball Models of Wind Turbine Ball Bearings)

  • This study focuses on the analysis of slewing ball bearings in wind turbines. Slewing bearings have an outer diameter of several meters, and hundreds of balls are in contact with the raceway. Due to the large number of balls and raceway contact conditions, it is difficult to accurately analyze contact stresses using general analysis techniques. To analyze the contact stress of a slewing ball bearing, the sub-modeling method is applied, which is a technique that first analyzes the displacement of the entire model and then analyzes the local stress at the point of maximum displacement. In order to reduce the displacement analysis time of the entire ball bearing, the technique of replacing the ball with a nonlinear spring is adopted. The analytical agreement of the simplified model was evaluated by comparing it with a solid mesh model of the ball for three models with different spring attachment methods. It was found that for the condition where a large turnover moment is applied to the bearing, increasing the number of spring elements gives the closest results to modeling the ball with a solid mesh.

바이오디젤 생산을 위한 미세조류 옥외배양 시스템의 영양원에 따른 미세조류 성장 특성 비교 (The Effect of Microalgal Growth on Nutrient Sources Using Microalgal Small Scale Raceway Pond (SSRP) for Biodiesel Production)

  • 최근 지구온난화문제와 화석연료 자원의 부족문제로 인해 지속적이고 친환경적인 미세조류 기반 바이오디젤이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 돈분 액체비료와 농업용 복합비료가 바이오 디젤 생산을 위한 미세조류 영양원으로 활용될 가능성을 확인해 보았다. 혼합 미세조류 CSS (Chlorella spp., Scenedesmus spp., Stigeoclonium spp.) 배양을 위한 영양원은 돈분 액체비료, 돈분 액체비료와 농업용 복합비료의 혼합, 농업용 복합비료이며, 28일간 Small Scale Raceway Pond (SSRP)에서 옥외배양하였다. 그 결과 혼합 실험구의 바이오매스와 지질 생산성은 각각 0.8g/L, 5.8 mg/L/day로 가장 우수한 바이오매스량과 지질 생산성을 보여주었다. 이 연구를 통해 농업용 복합비료와 돈분 액체비료의 혼합액이 미세조류에 안정적인 영양 공급을 하는 영양원으로 활용될 가능성을 확인하였다. 또한, 미세조류 배양단가와 바이오디젤 생산단가를 낮출 가능성도 탐구하였다.

스프링요소를 이용한 풍력발전기용 슬루잉 베어링의 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Slewing Bearings for Wind Turbines Using Spring Elements)

  • 본 연구는 풍력발전기용 베어링의 응력저감을 위한 설계와 검증에 관한 것이다. 일반적인 4점 접촉 볼베어링의 구조를 가지고 있는 슬루잉 베어링은 큰 모멘트 하중이 작용하면 접촉점이 레이스웨이 끝단부로 이동하여 국부적인 응력상승 문제가 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 접점 이동을 줄이기 위한 베어링을 설계하였다. 전통적인 볼베어링과 새로인 설계된 베어링의 극한하중 하에서의 변형거동을 볼을 스프링요소로 치환하여 유한요소해석을 통하여 계산하였다. 볼과 레이스웨이의 접촉응력은 변형거동 해석결과를 경계조건으로 입력하여 유한요소해석으로 계산하였다. 베어링 구조에 따른 접촉부 응력 비교를 통하여 베어링의 응력해석 방법의 효용성을 검증하였다.

제주도 육상 넙치양식장의 해양환경현황 - 쿠도아 양성양식장과 음성양식장을 중심으로 - (Status of Marine Environment of Olive Flounder, Paralichythys olivaceus, Culture Ground in Jeju-do - Focus on Kudoa septempunctata positive and negative farm -)

  • In this study, we monitored the status of marine environment of olive flounder, Paralichythys olivaceus, culture ground in Jeju-do, Republic of Korea. It reported the consumption of raw olive flounder meat containing of Kudoa, Kudoa septempunctata, could induce vomitting and diarrhea in Japan. The Kudoa is a new mycosporean species, researchers found Kudoa from the muscles of olive flounder cultured at western Japan and imported from Jeju-do. We choose two Kudoa positive farms and two negative farms in the mid of concern about the relation between Kudoa and habitat. We found two marine invasive species at the water-pumping seabed at one of the Kudoa positive farm. The concentration of pH and DO at on-growing flounder farms showed the decreasing pattern along side the raceway (influent sea waters > on growing sea waters > outfluent sea waters). The TN and TP values increased gradually following to the raceway (influent sea waters < on growing sea waters < outfluent sea waters). The concentration of COD and SS were in the range of $0.100-2.581mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, $1.00-12.70mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$, respectively. The calculated residence time was 4hr 32minutes at F1, 11hr 21minutes at F2, and 9hr 50minutes at F3, respectively. It was calculated same distance of 4 km away from effluent pipes. Although direct relation between Kudoa and marine environment could not define well based on this study result, the more studies on marine environmental stressors for olive flounder are required to conduct as a reliable method including socio-economic group and environmental group.
