Evaluation of Accident Prevention Performance of Vision and Radar Sensor for Major Accident Scenarios in Intersection (교차로 주요 사고 시나리오에 대한 비전 센서와 레이더 센서의 사고 예방성능 평가)

  • The current collision warning and avoidance system(CWAS) is one of the representative Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that significantly contributes to improve the safety performance of a vehicle and mitigate the severity of an accident. However, current CWAS mainly have focused on preventing a forward collision in an uninterrupted flow, and the prevention performance near intersections and other various types of accident scenarios are not extensively studied. In this paper, the safety performance of Vision-Sensor (VS) and Radar-Sensor(RS) - based collision warning systems are evaluated near an intersection area with the data from Naturalistic Driving Study(NDS) of Second Strategic Highway Research Program(SHRP2). Based on the VS and RS data, we newly derived sixteen vehicle-to-vehicle accident scenarios near an intersection. Then, we evaluated the detection performance of VS and RS within the derived scenarios. The results showed that VS and RS can prevent an accident in limited situations due to their restrained field-of-view. With an accident prevention rate of 0.7, VS and RS can prevent an accident in five and four scenarios, respectively. For an efficient accident prevention, a different system that can detect vehicles'movement with longer range than VS and RS is required as well as an algorithm that can predict the future movement of other vehicles. In order to further improve the safety performance of CWAS near intersection areas, a communication-based collision warning system such as integration algorithm of data from infrastructure and in-vehicle sensor shall be developed.

  • Super precision resistor was manufactured by controlling properly the thickness of $TaN_{0.1}$ (negative TCR) and Cr(positive TCR) deposited on cylindrical alumina substrate (diameter: 4 mm, length: 11 mm). Multilayer thin film resistor of $Ta_2O_5/TaN_{0.1}$/Cr/Alumina (substrate) was manufactured by depositing of $Ta_2N_5$ film on $TaN_{0.1}$ film to increase Rs to the level of 1;k{\Omega}/{\box}$ and to passivate the film. Super precision resistor with TCR of $20\pm5 ppm/^{\circ}C$ and Rs of $1\;k{\Omega}/{\box}$ was manufactured by depositing thin layers of about 10 nm $Ta_2O_5$, 100 nm $TaN_{0.1}$ and 50 nm Cr film under the properly controlled sputtering condition.

Formation of Enzyme Resistant Starch by Extrusion Cooking of High Amylose Corn Starch (고아밀로즈 옥수수전분의 압출성형에 의한 난소화성화)

  • Extrusion cooking treatment was compared with autoclaving/cooling treatment for formation of enzyme resistant starch of high amylose corn starch (HACS). Effects of barrel temperature $(100^{\circ}C,\;120^{\circ}C,\;140^{\circ}C)$ and feed moisture content (25%, 35%, 45%) on extrusion processing in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder under fixed screw speed (100 rpm) were investigated by measuring enzyme resistant starch (RS) yield. RS yield were estimated by in-vitro pancreatin digestion method and enzymatic-gravimetric method using termamyl. Barrel temperature and yield of RS were negatively correlated and feed moisture content and yield of RS was positively correlated as determined by in-vitro pancreatin method. The highest yield (38.4%) of RS was obtained from HACS extrudate processed at the barrel temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and the feed moisture content of 45%, while the yield of RS by 5 times of autoclaving/cooling was 25%. The yield of RS by in vitro pancreatin digestion method was 20.7% with high amylose corn starch and 8.2% with ordinary corn starch (CS), respectively, under the same extrusion condition (barrel temperature $120^{\circ}C$, feed moisture content 35%). At the same condition, the yields of RS by enzyme-gravimetric method were 14.6% with HACS and 6.8% with CS, respectively. The yield of RS increased during the storage at $4^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks and the highest yield (60%) was obtained by the storage of HACS extrudates extruded at $100^{\circ}C$ and 45% feed moisture content.

Analytical Characteristics of Electron Spin Resonance for Identifying Irradiated Ramen Soup with Radiation Sources (방사선 조사된 라면수프의 조사선원에 따른 전자스핀공명 분석특성)

  • The identification characteristics of irradiated commercial Ramen soup were investigated depending on radiation sources and doses by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. Two commercial powder soups (RS-1, RS-2) were irradiated at 0 to 20 kGy under ambient conditions by both a Co-60 gamma irradiator and an electron beam (EB) accelerator, respectively. Crystalline sugar-induced multi-component signals with g-values of 2.010/2.011, 2.006, 2.002 and 1.999 were detected in the irradiated Ramen soup (RS-1, RS-2), whereas $Mn^{2+}$ signals were observed in non-irradiated samples, thereby distinguishing each other. Under the same analytical conditions, the intensity of ESR signals was higher in EB-irradiated samples than the gamma-irradiated ones. Determination coefficients ($R^2$) between irradiation doses and corresponding ESR responses were above 0.9665 in all the samples, and the magnetic field of specified g-value remained constant. The predominant ESR signals of $g_2$ (2.010-2.011) and $g_3$ (2.002) increased with corresponding doses of irradiation ($R^2$= 0.9750-0.9981).

  • This paper develops a multi-casting system could be used in a school and hospital and government and municipal public offices. The developed multi-casting system uses various educational multimedia titles effectively and is capable of remote control by using a network(LAN). The developed system includes speaker control module that make individual or group broadcasting, AV contents control module for using a diverse educational multimedia title effectively and light control module. The system uses RS-485C communication module and the effective control system interface based on GUI.

Cross-Protection Effectiveness of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) Isolates Associated with Satellite RNA for Prevention of CMV Disease in Pepper Plants (Satellite RNA 보유 Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV)의 고추 CMV병에 대한 교차방어 효과)

  • Two attenuated Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) isolates, Paf-CMV and Rs2-CMV that had been selected from CMV isolates associated with satellite RNA (satRNA) were tested for cross-protection effect in pepper plants. The viruses selected as attenuated strains appeared to be identical serologically and physically to the challenge virus (Mf-CMV), but they were lower in the dilution end-point of infectivity of crude sap than Mf-CMV When symptoms were observed in several indicator plants after inoculation, Paf-CMV and Rs2-CMV were symptomless or showed mild mosaic symptoms while another satRNA isolate Ap-CMV developed severe mosaic symptoms on the leaves as Mf-CMV. The nucleotide sequences of the satRNAs were determined by sequencing full-length cDNA clones. Paf-, Rs2- and Ap-satRNAs were 386, 335, and 347 nucleotides long, respectively, The sequences were then compared with the other known Y-satRNA, revealing that nucleotide sequences of the satRNAs consisted of 5'- and 3'-terminal conserved regions. However variations occurred on the middle regions of the sequences, especially those related to symptom interference, showing significant differences between Paf-satRNA and other isolates. Infectious transcripts of Paf-satRNA and Rs2-satRNA induced mild mosaic symptoms in pepper plants when supported by genomic RNAs of Mf-CMV. Under greenhouse conditions, Paf-CMV and Rs2-CMV were tested for cross-protection effect in pepper and tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum cv, Xanthi nc) plants against Mf-CMV. No symptoms were developed on the plants vaccinated with Paf-CMV until 3 weeks after inoculation with the virulent strain; however another attenuated isolate, Rs2-CMV, showed less effectiveness in cross-protection. Depending on the concentration of the challenged virus, symptoms sometimes appeared later in the upper leaves. However, in plants challenged with low concentrations (below 0.2 mg/ml) of the challenge inoculum, symptoms caused by the virulent strain did not develop on the plants vaccinated with Paf-CMV. In the field experiments, the number of pepper plants with severe mosaic symptoms in the control plots was progressively increased after transplanting and reached approximately 50% after 50 days. On the other hand, the incidence of mosaic disease appeared very low on the plants that had received the protective inoculation with Paf-CMV.

  • The objective of this study is the estimation of the mechanical properties of HIP-treated MMCs by an optimized manufacturing process. The Ti-MMCs were fabricated by HIP and rotary swaging (RS) for secondary processing. The Ti-MMCs with different tungsten fiber contents of 0, 6, 9, and 12 vol% were subjected to tensile tests, fatigue tests, and hardness tests. The results show that the hardness values of Ti-MMCs increased with the increasing volume percent of tungsten fibers, the tensile strength increased by approximately 50% (specific strength: 38%) at the 9 vol%. The value of tungsten-fiber orientation F affects the tensile strength. The fatigue strengths of the Ti-MMCs did not improve. HIP is a useful manufacturing method for Ti-MMCs and RS is an important process for improving fiber orientation during secondary processing.

  • In this paper, we describe the intrabed network in a patient monitoring system we developed The intrabed network handles data communication between the main unit of a bedside patient monitor and parameter modules plugged in it. We designed the intrabed network based on RS-485 and HDLC protocol with 1 Mbps data rate. Message exchanges are implemented based on three data structures of packet frame. and stream. We present the specification and the performance of the data communication network for the developed patient monitor.

  • This study is to develop an instructional model for expanding reading debate topic. Also, effects on reading attitude and self-directed learning are identified in this study. The instructional model is implemented for target students, elementary school students. This model was evaluated by a pre-test and a post-test, targeting on students in fourth grade. As a result, this model is effective on developing reading habits and establishing self-directed attitude.

Effects of Amylose Content on Properties of Lintnerized Maize Starches and Yield of Resistant Starch (아밀로오스 함량이 산처리 옥수수전분의 특성 및 저항전분수율에 미치는 영향)

  • Lintnerization properties and yield of enzyme-resistant starch in maize starches with different amylose content were investigated. Hydrolytic patterns of starches showed two distinct stages. With decreasing the amylose content, hydrolysis extents of starch increased. X-ray diffraction patterns of Amloca, PFP and commercial maize starch were the A crystalline type, and those of Amaizo 5 and Amylomaize VII were the B crystalline type. As acid hydrolysis time increased, the relative crystallinity of starches increased. After heating-cooling treatment was repeated up to 4 times, the yield of RS increased with increasing the amylose content. The yields of RS in lintnerzed maize starches decreased with acid treatment.
