Epipolar images have to be generated to stereo display aerial images or satellite images. Pushbroom sensor is used to acquire high resolution satellite images. These satellite images have curvilinear epipolar lines unlike the epipolar lines of frame images, which are straight lines. The aforementioned fact makes it difficult to generate epipolar images for pushbroom satellite images. If we assume a linear transition of the sensor having constant speed and attitude during image acquisition, we can generate epipolar images based on parallel projection model (20 Affine model). Recent high resolution images are provided with RPC values so that we can exploit these values to generate epipolar images without using ground control points and tie point. This paper provides a procedure based on the parallel projection model for generating epipolar images directly from a stereo IKONOS images, and experimental results.
This paper aims to provide a detailed introduction to the concept of the Ratio of Predictable Component (RPC) and the Signal-to-Noise Paradox. Then, we derive insights from them by exploring the paradoxical features by conducting a seasonal and regional analysis through ensemble expansion in KMA's climate prediction system (GloSea). We also provide an explanation of the ensemble generation method, with a specific focus on stochastic physics. Through this study, we can provide the predictability limits of our forecasting system, and find way to enhance it. On a global scale, RPC reaches a value of 1 when the ensemble is expanded to a maximum of 56 members, underlining the significance of ensemble expansion in the climate prediction system. The feature indicating RPC paradoxically exceeding 1 becomes particularly evident in the winter North Atlantic and the summer North Pacific. In the Siberian Continent, predictability is notably low, persisting even as the ensemble size increases. This region, characterized by a low RPC, is considered challenging for making reliable predictions, highlighting the need for further improvement in the model and initialization processes related to land processes. In contrast, the tropical ocean demonstrates robust predictability while maintaining an RPC of 1. Through this study, we have brought to attention the limitations of potential predictability within the climate prediction system, emphasizing the necessity of leveraging predictable signals with high RPC values. We also underscore the importance of continuous efforts aimed at improving models and initializations to overcome these limitations.
The traditional client-server model RPC and mobile agents have been used for interprocess communication between processes in different hosts. The performances of two mechanisme were analyzed in the literature [4, 6, 9]. But the security services which extensively affect the performance of systems because of low speed have not been considered. We propose two performance models considering the security services for the RPC and the mobile agent Through the analysis of the models, we show that the execution time of the mobile agent takes less than the RPC In the environment considering security services.

Korea's first X-band SAR satellite KOMPSAT-5 has been launched in 2013, so the research related to the X-band SAR satellite image is required to increase the utilization of KOMPSAT-5. In this study, we generated a DEM(Digital Elevation Model) using X-band SAR satellite images based on three methods which are InSAR, radargrammetry and RPC(Rational Polynomial Coefficients), and evaluated the performance of each methods. The four stripmap mode TerraSAR-X images taken in Daejeon were used to generate DEM, and accuracy was evaluated using DEM by IKONOS RPC. As results, DEM produced by the InSAR showed the highest accuracy. Also, we knew that RPC could be effective method if you want to create a large area DEM which contains the various elevation.

In the paper, a methodology is verified to integrate IKONOS-2 satellite imagery and ALS dataset by compensating biases of RPC models. To achieve this, conjugate features from both data should be extracted in advance. For this purpose, linear features are chosen as conjugate features because they can be accurately extracted from man-made structures in urban area and more easily extracted than point features from ALS data. Then, observation equations are established from similarity measurements of the extracted features. During the process, several kinds of transformation functions were selected and used to register them. In addition, it was also analyzed how the number of linear features used as control features affects the accuracy of registration results. Finally, the results were evaluated by using check-points obtained from DGPS surveying techniques and it was clearly demonstrated that the proposed algorithms are appropriate to integrate these data.

We present the required handover capacity of personal communication service exchange(PCX). We use the flow-based mobility model. The dimension of PCX area and the number of radio port controller(RPC) in a PCX are determined according to the traffic carrying capacity of switching system and RPC. For the rectangular or square-shaped PCX/RPC area and the personal communication service environment with pedestrian traffic, we perform numerical computations to investigate the sensitivity to cell size, portable station(PS) terminating traffic, its density, and its average speed. The results how that the size of PCX/RPC area decreases as the PS terminating traffic and the PS density increase, and the PCX handover capacity required is more than 73,000 in the number of transactions per hour.

Some of satellites such as IKONOS don't provide the orbital elements so that we can’ utilize the physical sensor model. Therefore, Rational Function Model(RFM) which is one of mathematical models could be a feasible solution. In order to improve 3D geopositioning accuracy of IKONOS stereo imagery, Rational Polynomial Coefficients(RPCs) of the RFM need to be updated with Ground Control Points(GCPs). In this paper, a method to improve RPCs of RFM using GCPs and 3D cube is proposed. Firstly, the image coordinates of GCPs are observed. And then, using offset values and scale values of RPC provided, the image coordinates and ground coordinates of 3D cube are initially determined and updated RPCs are computed by the iterative least square method. The proposed method was implemented and analyzed in several cases: different numbers of 3D cube layers and GCPs. The experimental results showed that the proposed method improved the accuracy of RPCs in great amount.

GCPs (Ground Control Points) are needed to correct the DEM (Digital Elevation Model) produced from high-resolution satellite images and the RPC (Rational Polynomial Coefficient). It is difficult to acquire the GCPs through field surveys such as GPS surveys and to read the image coordinates corresponding to the GCPs. In addition, GCPs cannot cover the entire image of the test site, and the RPC correction results may be influenced by the arrangement and distribution of the GCPs in the image. Therefore, a new method for the RPC correction is needed. In this study, an LHD (Least-squares Height Difference) DEM matching method was applied using previous DEMs: SRTM DEM, digital map DEM, and corrected IKONOS DEM. This was carried out to correct the DEM produced from KOMPSAT-3 satellite images and the provided RPC without GCPs. The IKONOS DEM had the highest accuracy, and the height accuracy was about ${\pm}3m$ RMSE in a mountainous area and about ${\pm}2m$ RMSE in an area with only low heights.

As high-resolution satellite images have enabled large scale topographic mapping and monitoring on global scale with short revisit time, agile sensor orientation, and large swath width, many countries make effort to secure the satellite image information. In Korea, KOMPSAT-2 (KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2) was launched in July 28 2006 with high specification. These satellites have stereo image acquisition capability for 3D mapping and monitoring. To efficiently handle stereo images such as stereo display and monitoring, the accurate epipolar image generation process is prerequisite. However, the process was highly limited due to complexity in epipolar geometry of pushbroom sensor. Recently, the piecewise approach to generate epipolar images using RPC was developed and tested for in-track IKONOS stereo images. In this paper, the piecewise approach was tested for KOMPSAT-2 across-track stereo images to see how accurately KOMPSAT-2 epipolar images can be generated for 3D geospatial applications. In the experiment, two across-track stereo sets from three KOMPSAT-2 images of different dates were tested using RPC as the sensor model. The test results showed that one-pixel level of y-parallax was achieved for manually measured tie points.
