  • Freund, Vail, and Ross, Goldberger and Jochems and Goldberger have given some results for the stepwise estimation of the parameters of a univariate regression model, D.G. Kabe gave similar results for a multivariate linear regression model. We give here alternative derivation of some results derived by D.G. Kabe.

  • The LCD monitor market enjoyed rapid growth in 1999 but only experienced modest growth in 2000. It is now poised for rapid growth from 2001 to 2005 as prices and costs decline. Price reductions will enable LCD monitors to move beyond limited vertical markets and extend into the broader consumer markets. This article will examine the future outlook for LCD monitors and provide a growth forecast.

  • Solvent-free low foaming scouring agents (LFSC) were prepared by blending of 2-ethylhexylaminoethyl sulfate (2-EHAS), POE(10) octadecylbenzyl- ammonium chloride (POBAC) and Sedlan FF-200 (FF-200). As the results of several tests, 2-EHAS/POBAC/FF-200/water (8g/12g/20g/60g) mixture (LFSC-5) showed good cleaning power, penetrating ability and stability to alkali, and gave less problem in water pollution. The foaming power of LFSC-5 measured by Ross and Miles method was 8mm foam height immediately after foaming, and that measured by Ross and Clark method was less than 300mm foam height at $30^{\circ}C$, and 18mm at $80^{\circ}C$. As a result, LFSC-5 proved a good low foaming scouring agent for fiber.

  • Low foaming scouring agents (LSSA) were prepared by blending of amine salt of dodecylbenzene sulfone, poly (PO-b-EO) glycol, Newpol PP-2000, MJU-100, ethylene glycol and organic solvent. As the results of several tests, LSSA-2 showed good scouring effect, penetrating ability and emulsifiability, and showed not much water pollution. The foaming power of LSSA-2 measured by Ross & Miles method was 11mm foam height immediately after foaming. And the foaming power of LSSA-2 measured by Ross & Clark method were less than 310mm foam height at $30^{\circ}C$, 17mm at $80^{\circ}C$. As a result, LSSA-2 was proved as a good foaming scouring agent.

  • Genome sequencing and microarray technology produce ever-increasing amounts of complex data that needs statistical analysis. Visualization is an effective analytic technique that exploits the ability of the human brain to process large amounts of data. In this study, biplot approach applied to microarray data to see the relationship between genes and samples. The supplementary data method to classify new sample to known category is suggested. The methods are validated by applying it to well known microarray data such as Golub et al.(1999), Alizadeh et al.(2000), Ross et al.(2000). The results are compared to the results of several clustering methods. Modified graph which combine partitioning method and biplot is also suggested.

  • Hemagglutination inhibition(HI) titers of Newcastle disease(ND) were measured to investigate the vaccination times on three different species of broiler chicks in Chonbuk province. Each 330 of Cobb, Ross and White-semi broiler chicks were selected from 11 broiler farms. The primary vaccine were sprayed in hatchery at one day old chicks. Secondary and tertiary vaccine were used by drinking water at 7 to 24 days old chicks. The ND antibody titer were measured by HI from each different species of broiler chicks at the marketing date. Total average HI titers of Cobbs vaccinated with primary ones, secondary and tertiary ones were recorded 1.86, 1.52 and 2.76, respectively. The antibody titers were shown to 2.22, 2.13, 3.07 in terms of vaccination of Ross broiler chicks. They were also 2.56, 2.65 and 2.78 in terms of vaccination of White-semi broiler chicks. The value HI titer were not statistically different of all treatments. The results of this experiment suggested that HI titer of sera is scored less than defensive value of ND antibody titer at more than two times of vaccination.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the influence of multi-probiotics, fermented ginseng byproducts and fermented sulfone as an alternative to probiotics on performance, intestinal microflora and immunity of broiler. A five weeks trial was conducted with one day old Ross${\times}$Ross broilers (n=340), divided into five groups which further divided into 4 replicates with 17 birds in each replicate. Birds were assigned to 5 dietary treatments as control, antibiotic avilamycin (AB), multi-probiotics (MP), fermented sulfone (FS) and fermented ginseng byproducts (FGB). Growth parameters were recorded on weekly basis while rest of the parameters viz. blood and faeces were collected at the end of the experiment. Growth parameters were not affected statistically by dietary treatments. However, numerically, higher body weight, splenocytes proliferation and lower total cholesterol and LDL values were found in MP treatment (P>0.05). Salmonella spp. count ($P{\leq}0.001$) and E. coli (P<0.001) concentrations in the ileum were found lowest in AB treatment while FS group showed lowest level of yeast (P<0.10) and Lactobacillus spp. ($P{\leq}0.001$). Fecal ammonia and $CO_2$ emission was significantly decreased in FGB than other dietary treatments (P<0.05). It was concluded that multi-probiotics would be valuable feed additives to improve the growth performance, Lactobacillus proliferation and immunity of broiler chicks.
