목적: 본 연구의 목적은 대학원 또는 RN-BSN과정에 등록하여 학업을 계속하는 간호사들이 학업과 직업, 가정에서 다양한 역할을 수행하면서 발생하는 역할갈등과 역할관련 스트레스의 관련성을 파악하는 것이다. 연구방법: 국내4개 간호대학 RN-BSN과정 또는 대학원에서 수업을 받고 있는 간호사 149명을 대상으로 역할갈등, 역할스트레스를 측정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였으며 서술통계, 빈도분석, 상관관계분석과 함께 위계적 다중회귀분석을 이용하였다. 연구결과: 연구대상자의 work-school to family 갈등은 평균 $2.77{\pm}0.93$점, family-school to work 갈등은 $3.27{\pm}0.77$점, family-work to school에 대한 역할갈등은 $3.08{\pm}0.83$점이었다. 역할관련 스트레스는 평균 $5.99{\pm}1.66$점이었으며, 스트레스의 하위영역 중 가정스트레스 $4.77{\pm}2.62$점, 직장스트레스 $6.66{\pm}2.12$점, 학업스트레스 $6.84{\pm}1.87$점이었다. 위계적 다중회귀분석 중에서 직위가 스트레스변인의 2%를 설명하였고, 2단계에서 갈등요인 3변수가 추가 입력되었을 때 스트레스 변인의 23%를 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: 학업과 근무, 가정으로부터 다양한 역할을 수행하는 간호사는 다양한 역할에서 오는 갈등과 스트레스의 연관성이 확인되었으므로, 이를 근거로 업무만족과 성취를 높일 수 있는 정책이 개발되어야 한다.
Purpose: This study was to test the effectiveness of Web-based multimedia contents for Physical Examination and Health Assessment on learning achievement. Method: Multimedia contents based on Jung's teaching and learning structure model were used to enhance learning achievement. Learning achievement was measured by the knowledge of Physical Examination and Health Assessment. The participants of this study were students in a BSN and RN-BSN program in a university located in Seoul. 59 students in the experimental group received lectures using web-based multimedia contents and 75 students in the control group received regular lectures. Results: The mean score of the degree of educational achievement in the experimental group(mean=31.09) was significantly higher than in the control group(mean=25.55)(t=-3.883, p=.000). Conclusion: These web-based multimedia contents were found to maximizethe effectiveness of the teaching process when used as a teaching aid, and yet kept the strength of a face to face teaching learning method. This program is recommended as part of a main text, vital teaching aid or cyber lecture materials in nursing schools and in health care educational institutions.
Nursing process is an essential part for nursing practice. Nursing faculty members must focus on the clinical application for students and try to identify the possible problems that students might face in the fields. The purpose of this study is to examine the actual condition of nursing process education in curricula and to investigate the response of students in clinical experience of nursing process. From 462 students in the 6 associate programs(ADN) and the 6 baccalaureate programs (BSN) data was collected by questionnaire. The results were as followed. 1. Seven programs (58.3%) opened the nursing process in mainly sophomore (BSN) or freshman(ADN). If not opened, the nursing process was taught at the major subjects(espcially fundamental nursing or adult nursing). 2. All Students responded they we supposed to use nursing process in preparing the case report. The majority(94.6%) used NANDA lists for nursing diagnosis and 55.7% of subjects consulted the Korean terms by KNA when translating. The tutors for nursing process in clinical settings were the professor in charge of the subject (68.6) or clinical instructors (48.1%) , assistants(34%). 3. The problems in clinical application that students experienced consisted of 17 items and the mean was 2.27. The biggest problem was 'the lack of the model for RN of applying the nursing process in clinical settings'(2.97). Next the big problem was 'the lack of the competency for implementing the established nursing plans'(2.69). All items were significantly different according to the level of educational programs(ADN or BSN). ADN students had more problems in applying the each step of nursing process and BSN students perceived the NANDA as a guidance of nursing diagnosis and the inconsistency of advices from several instructors or practicum to be mere problematic. 4. The mean of merits after application of nursing process was relatively fair (2.82). The best merit was 'they can identify nursing problems more exactly'(3.07). The second high merit was 'they can study the rational of nursing action' (3.03). BSN than ADN and the subjects of second year than of one year in clinical experience perceived the use of nursing process to be better. Based on this results we need to enforce the application of nursing diagnosis in the class. The use of sample cases can be the efficient method. Students can identify the possible health problems for patient from the cases in imaginary world and discuss them each other. Also we can use the discussion session after practice every other day or as needed. All this is on the good interaction between tutor and student. We must consider to have enough time for student to seize the essence of the nursing process.
This study was intended to grasp the history of nursing education from the beginning to the present in Korea, and grip and look-out current diversified systems of nursing education on basis of February, 2000 through literatural review and investigation by close telephone interviews. The basic nursing educational institutions in the whole country were total 113, namely, 3 years course, 65 junior colleges of nursing, and 4 years course, 48 colleges of nursing. And there were 3 types of continuing nursing educational system: two of three were transferring to another college for gain bachelor's degree in nursing; RN-BSN programs and university of broadcasting, and the other was the system of independent learning and then examination for BSN. Total nursing graduates from junior college of nursing courses and college of nursing courses were 7,564 on February, 1999. In general graduate school, the number of master courses were 21 and Ph.D courses were 13. And the number of special graduate schools were 21, i.e., graduate school of education were 7, graduate school of administration were 2, graduate school of public health were 11 and graduate school of industry was 1. As the perspective on nursing education, we overviewed changing nursing organizational environment, increasing the system of continuing education, making standards in nursing education and systemization of nursing educational accreditation, specialization of nursing, information system in nursing education and education of graduate school. The summary of the above overviewed subjects were as follows; Every nursing educational institution needed to educate by educational criteria and standard and characteristically run BSN and graduate courses. Specialization in nursing has to develop more and more, therefore advanced education and law should be prepared appropriately. According to the age's and social needs, we have to establish counter-plan for fundamental educational environment. We have to sensitive to rapidly changing information in the era of globalization. In the level of university education, each university needs characterization of educational objectives, goals and contents, and has to replace the shortage of the number of professor. And the regulation of thesis and dissertation examinations need to be reinforced. Education in nursing should consists with specialization. Collaboration among universities will bring efficiency in the nursing education.
Purpose: This study was done to examine the effects of nurses' perception of servant leadership on leader effectiveness, satisfaction and promoting additional effort. The focus was the mediating effects of leader trust and value congruence. Methods: Data were collected from 361 RN-BSN students and nurses participating in nationally attended in-service training programs. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and structural analysis with SPSS 17.0 windows program and Amos 7.0. Results: Direct effects of nurses' perception of servant leadership were negative, but mediating effects of trust and value congruency were positively correlated with leader effectiveness, satisfaction and additional effort, that is servant leadership should be effective through mediating factors. Conclusion: The study results indicate that if the middle managers of nurses can build leader trust and value congruency between nurses through servant leadership, leader effectiveness, satisfaction and additional effort on the part of the nurses could result in a positive change in the long term.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to validate the scale of Informatics Competencies for Nurses developed by Staggers, Gassert & Curran(2001) among Korean nurses. Methods: The subjects of this study were 58 RN-BSN students and 314 nurses in Busan, Ulsan and Kyoungnam province. Data were collected by questionnaires from June to August, 2006 and from October, 2006 to August, 2007 and were analyzed by Principal Component Analysis for construct validity and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient for reliability. Results: A factor analysis was conducted and 30 items that had a factor loading more than .40 were extracted. The explained variance from 5 factors was 55.33% of the total variance. The factors were named 'basic computer usage', 'medical informatics-related software usage', 'computer related information management', 'perception of informatics', and 'information search using internet'. The first factor consisted 10 items which explained 29.89% of the total variance and the second factor contained 7 items. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient was .91 among the 30 items. Conclusion: This scale, Informatics Competencies for Nurses, was proved as a proper instrument to apply to Korean nurses.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing intention of migration by Korean hospital nurses. Methods: Using cross sectional correlational design, data were collected from 512 nurses working in 7 hospitals ranging in size from 300 to 900 beds in D city and K province of Korea. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, chi-square, and multiple hierarchical regression using the SPSS program. Results: There were significant differences in intention of migration by age, educational background, marital status, work experience, and yearly incomes. Although there was high intention of migration of the subjects, the level of preparation for migration was relatively low. The variables that were independently associated with intention of migration were graduates of RN-BSN program, personal factors of subjects, and environmental factors. Those who had lower perception on nursing images and work condition had significantly higher intention of migration than those who had higher perception. Full model accounted for 37.3% of the variance in intention of migration. Conclusion: To prevent brain drain of competent nurses in Korea, appropriate strategies to enhance work condition should be developed and the effect of migration of nurses should be investigated in further studies.
It is important for nurses to try to improve their interpersonal relationship and communication skill. The purpose of this study was to examine the nurse's inerpersonal conflict and expression with physicians, other nurses and patients & their caregivers. A convenient sample of 62 RN-BSN students were recruited. The data collection was done from August, 2001 to September, 2001. Nurses experienced the most conflicts with high-positioned nurses, then doctors, patients and their families, administrators, nurse-aid, nurse colleagues and lower-positioned nurses. There was a significant correlation between nurse's interpersonal conflict with doctors and nurse's age & career, between with high-positioned nurses and region of hospitals & nurse's position. The expression that nurses least-like from physicians was 'Do it as order'. From other nurses was 'manner of speech such like order'. And from patients and their family was 'naming such like young lady or sisters'. The other side, the expression that nurses most like expression from physicians and ohter nurses was 'You are excellent'. From patients and their family was 'You are kindness'. In conclusion, it is necessary to improve nurse's communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
Purpose: This descriptive study was done to evaluate the attitude and practice of hand-washing by student nurses. Method: The subjects of the study were 463 senior and junior undergraduate student nurses and RN-BSN students. The questionnaire was developed by the researchers Data were collected from Oct. 16 to Dec. 20. 2001. and analysed by SPSS/WIN. General characteristics. attitude and practice were analyzed by frequency and percentage and differences in attitude and practice according to grade and practice setting were analyzed with $x^2$ test, t-test or ANOVA. Result: 1) The mean frequency of hand-washing was 6.63. Senior students washed more frequently than junior students. 2) The reasons for non-compliance were 'not being accustomed', 'forgetting', and 'not accessible'. 3) The mean time for hand-washing was 23.79 sec., less than the stated appropriate time of 42 18 sec. 4) 90% of the students washed their hands 'after contacting excretions and contaminated items' and few washed 'before giving care to the client'. 5) Most students washed hands rotationally rubbing with soap and water. 6) While washing, they removed their rings more often than their watches. 7) Soap bar (52.8%) and paper towel (69.6%) were most frequently used as decontaminating agent and drying method, but detergent solution (74.2%) and paper towels (60%) were considered as the most appropriate agent and method. 8) Hand-washing was perceived important generally 'to protect from cross-infection'. 'to protect one-self' and 'the most cost effective'. 9) All students responded nurses should practice 'hand-washing.'

While the overall life style pattern of Koereans not to mention the structure of diseases undergo change, the possibility that the reckless induction of high-tech health care may only cause medical fees to eascafate. It can전so be expected that the health care system will evolve towards the consumers. Nursing in the 21s1 century will be of two scenarios according to WHO, which presents the role of the nurse. The first scenario is that "a gen-eric health care work force" namely a "care giver" will replace all other health professions. If Nursing does not become the compatent profession fitting to this purpose it will eventually dei out. The second scenario is that nurses who are educated in a well grounded and extensive general background and have command of a specialized area will undertake services varying from health pro-motion to treatment and rehabilitation both direct and indirectly, while supervising other personnel. The nurse here would become the "care giver". To become the necessary health care profession in the 21s1 century, nurses should be provided with more educational opportunities, variating in its con-tents, course, and system, enabling them to grow. Clair Faign points out that the minimal educational entry for the nursing profession is a 4 year undergraduate education in this aspect, now in the time to set the future of Nursing into the course of the first scenario. A new educational system stipulating a baccalaureate nursing degree is in urgent need, and aside from govermental actions nurse themseives should formaily officiallze this process, striving for quality assurance. While considering 6 years nursing education programs, multifarious degree courses for existing 3 years educated nurse should be provided Junior nursing schools must devise measures to grow into baccalaucate institutions, also. Among the existing courses, the Self Study Degree Program should be converted into RN, BSN courese provided by universities, and clinical training for the University on the Air must be supplimented, The possibility of establishing nursing courses into commercial high school programs only jeopardizes the development of the nursing profession.
