The purpose of this study is to find out the activity of gluteus medius muscle by the changes of load given to the upper limbs in single support phase. This study was twenty healthy men from A College. The left gluteus medius muscle was measured using SEMG(surface Electromyogram). Only the left foot was supported, and for the right foot, the right upper limbs were abducted while hip joint and the knee joint were bent at a $90^{\circ}$ angle. The study was made by giving weight using dumbbells, depending on the RM of the subject(0RM, 1RM, 3RM, 5RM, 7RM). Gluteus medius muscle showed a large activity for those given weight to the upper limbs(1RM, 3RM, 5RM, 7RM) than that without weight(0RM). There was a significant difference in the activity of gluteus medius muscle between each RM. Gluteus medius muscle is high active when weight is given to the upper limbs in single support phase.
This study was undertaken to investigate the genetic diversity and to develop a technique for cultivar discrimination using SSR markers in rice. Sixty-seven recently distributed rice cultivars in Korea from 1998 to 2005 were evaluated by 20 SSR markers. A total of 149 alleles were produced ranging from 4 to 14 alleles with an average of 7.5 alleles per locus. The molecular weight of alleles per locus varied from 4 bp (RM253) to 51 bp (RM335), and PIC values ranged from 0.45 (RM202) to 0.87 (RM204) with an average of 0.67. Of them, seven markers, RM204, RM257, RM21, RM224, RM249, RM253, and RM264, were selected as key markers for differentiating rice varieties. The seven markers produced a total of 67 alleles with an average of 9.6 alleles per marker. PIC values ranged from 0.48 (RM253) to 0.87 (RM204) with an average of 0.72. The 63 cultivars (94%) out of 67 cultivars could be individually identified by the genotype using the seven SSR markers, which will be applicable to discriminating rice cultivars.
This paper deals with the efficiency evaluations in a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) versus a permanent magnet assisted SynRM (PMASynRM), using a coupled transient finite element method (FEM) and Preisach modeling, which is presented to analyze the characteristics under the effects of saturation and hysteresis loss. We herein focus on the efficiency evaluation relative to hysteresis loss and copper loss on the basis of load conditions in a SynRM and PMASynRM. Computer simulation and experimental results for the efficiency, using a dynamometer, show the propriety of the proposed method and the high performance of the PMASynRM.

In this work, red mud (RM) was chemically modified by 0.1, 1, and 5 M H3PO4 solution to prepare epoxy/RM nanocomposites. The effect of chemical treatment on pH, acid-base values, specific surface area, and porosity of RM surface was analyzed. To estimate the mechanical interfacial properties of epoxy/RM nanocomposites, the critical stress intensity factor (K$_{IC}$) was measured. From the experimental results, it was clearly revealed that the porosity, specific surface area, and acid values of RM surface were developed as the increase of the treatment concentration due to the increase of acidic functional group, including hydroxyl group on RM surface. The mechanical interfacial properties of epoxy/treated-RM nanocomposites were higher than those of epoxy/RM as-received due to an improvement of interfacial bonding between basic matrix and RM surface.
This paper investigates the relevance system R-mingle (RM) as a a fuzzy-relevance logic. It shows that RM is fuzzy in Cintula's sense, i.e., RM is complete with respect to linearly ordered L-matrices (or L-algebras). More exactly, we first introduce RM and its weak versions wwRM and wRM. We next provide algebraic and matrix completeness results for them.

Background: This study investigated effective posture for gluteus medius rehabilitation training and effects of isometric muscle activity by electrophysiology through EMG while performing dynamic isotonic behavior of weight placed differently on upper limbs. Method: 16 healthy male subjects 20 to 29 years of age volunteered for the study. Lateral stabilizer right gluteus medius activity was assessed using EMG while the right lower extremity maintains single limb support, and the left upper extremity elevation movement maintains 5 seconds without load, 1RM to 1 repetition, 5RM to 5 times, 10RM to 10 times, 5RM and 10RM maintain 5sec. Results: Comparison of the mean value of EMG data showed a statistically more significant difference in upper extremity elevation movement on opposite upper extremity added weight than one that was not added on a single limb weight bearing posture(p>.05). Weight supported side gluteus medius activity for 1RM, 5RM, 10RM weight difference and movement repetition did not differ(p>.05). Comparison in maximum value showed statistically significant differences in not adding weight on upper limb elevation exercise and 1RM, 5RM, 10RM repeated behavior. Elevation behavior and repetition appeared over 70% of MVIC. Conclusion: Unilateral weight bearing stance added weight in the opposite upper limb elevation movement was an indirect exercise to effectively stimulate gluteus medius activity. Applying various added weight will have effective exercise on the early stages of rehabilitation because activity gluteus medius did not differ through added weight.

Purpose: Despite previous studies reporting the development of rhabdomyolysis (RM), this affliction tends to be neglected as an envenomation sign in South Korea. The current retrospective study investigates the prevalence and prognosis of RM after a snakebite. We further searched for predictors of snakebite-induced RM, which can be observed at presentation. Methods: This study included 231 patients who presented to the ED within 24 hours after a snakebite. The patients were classified according to the severity of RM, and the data, comprising baseline characteristics and clinical course including the level of creatine kinase (CK), were collected and compared according to the severity of RM. Results: The prevalence of RM and severe RM were determined to be 39% and 18.5%, respectively. Compared to the group without RM or with mild RM, the group with severe RM had a higher grade of local swelling, a higher frequency of acute kidney injury and neurotoxicity, and a greater need for renal replacement therapy and vasopressor administration. However, the incidence of acute renal injury in the RM group was 7.7%, with two patients needing renal replacement therapy. No mortalities were reported at discharge. Results of the multinomial logistic regression model revealed that the WBC levels are significantly associated with the risk of severe RM. Conclusion: RM should be considered the primary clinical sign of snake envenomation in South Korea, although it does not seem to worsen the clinical course. In particular, physicians should pay attention to patients who present with leukocytosis after a snakebite, which indicates the risk of developing RM, regardless of the CK level at presentation.
The purpose of this study was to examine the most effective weight training (WT) intensity for the improvement of metabolic syndrome factors in overweight high school students. Sixty overweight high school students were randomly divided into 4 groups (15 subjects/group) according to WT intensity: A group - control group, B group - 40-55% repetition maximum (RM) group, C group - 60-75% RM group, and D group - 80-90% RM group. They exercised between 60-70 minutes a day, three times a week, for eight weeks. In order to determine the most effective WT intensity, five metabolic syndrome factors--waist size, fasting glucose, triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and blood pressure--were measured for each subject prior to and after the experiment. Waist size decreased in all exercise groups, but the results were more prominent in the 40-55% RM and 60-75% RM groups. TG levels also decreased in all groups but results were more prominent in the 40-55% RM group. HDL-C levels in the 80-90% RM group were significantly higher than the control group. Groups did not show any significant difference in the diastolic blood pressure, but the 40-55% RM group's systolic blood pressure significantly decreased compared to other groups. Groups did not show significant difference in the fasting glucose level. These results indicate that lower-intensity weight training is generally more effective than the higher-intensity weight training in improving metabolic syndrome factors in overweight high school students and that the most effective WT intensity is 40-55% RM.
Objective: Ramulus mori (RM) has been known to be effective for the treatment of obesity. To show the effectiveness of RM in a more scientific way, RM extract was prepared and evaluated in high fat diet rats by measuring the changes of body weight and lipid metabolism as described briefly below. Methods: 200 g of crushed RM was extracted withmethyl alcohol. The extract was evaporated under reduced pressure to give 33.4 g. For 10 weeks, control group rats were fed a high fat diet, while the test group rats were fed with the same diet plus RM extract. The normal group was fed with a normal diet. 150 mg of RM extract per 1 kg of body weight was added to the diet in the test group rats. Results: The control group rats on the high fat diet gained weight significantly, whereas the test group rats on the high fat diet plus RM extract gamed less weight. The significant increase of liver weight caused by the high fat diet was also inhibited by the RM extract treatment. Total lipid, triglyceride and total cholesterol levels of serum in the high fat diet rats were remarkably increased, whereastheir levels on the high fat diet plus RM extract were less increased. While serum HDL-cholesterol levels were remarkably decreased in the high fat diet, its level was less decreased in the high fat diet plus RM extract. Furthermore, we observed that the activities of hepatic acetyl-CoA carboxylase and fatty acid synthetase increased under the high fat diet, while their activities under the high fat diet plus RM extract were getting back nearly to the normal levels of the normal diet rats. Conclusions: These result show that the obesity caused by a high fat diet was effectively inhibited by an RM extract. Our results also showed that the abnormal lipid metabolism caused by a high fat diet was effectively cured by adding RM extract.

Pear (Pyrus spp.) is a typical fruit and grown in the temperate climate regions throughout the world. Development of appropriate methods for in vitro propagation and root induction are important to increase the production rate and plant quality rapidly. This study was conducted to find the most appropriate media conditions for in vitro propagation and rooting of three pear cultivars, 'Barttlett', 'BaeYun No.3' and 'Oharabeni'. In vitro propagation was induced on Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) with 2.0 mg/L N6-benzyladenine (BA) and 0.2 mg/L indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) medium. For root induction of these cultivars, the shoot explants of the propagated plants were cultured on two different media containing 1/2 MS medium containing 0.2 mg/L IBA with 15 g/L Sucrose (Rooting Medium 1, RM1) and 1/4 Linsmaier and Skoog medium (LS) medium containing 1 mg/L IBA and 1 mg/L NAA hormone with 7.5 g/L glucose (Rooting Medium, RM2) and after 2 weeks, the plants on the RM2 medium are transferred on RM1 medium (RM2 condition). After nearly seven weeks, percentage of rooting formation were 22.2% in RM1 and 30% in RM2 conditions for Barttlett and 70% in RM1 and 60% in RM2 conditions for Oharabeni cultivars. No differences in these cultivars were observed between RM1 and RM2 conditions. However, BaeYun No.3 cultivar was observed 0% in RM1 and 72.7% in RM2 conditions. This study will help to propagation and root induction of in vitro plants for various pear cultivars.
