  • In the present study, pure RHO zeolite was hydrothermally synthesized by using 18-crown-6 ether as a structure directing agent(SDA), and the small gases adsorption was investigated. Synthesized RHO zeolite was a cube shape particle of which average edge length was around $1.2{\mu}m$ and composed of primary crystallites having a diameter of around 100 to 200 nm. RHO zeolite structure was stable under 3h calcination at $600^{\circ}C$. Water adsorption data announced that RHO zeolite has a specific surface area of 483.32 m2/g and its micropore diameter was about 4 A. Gas adsorption was studied in the pressure range of 50 to 500 kPa for $CO_2$, $N_2$, $O_2$ and $H_2$. It was evident that RHO zeolite showed a strong $CO_2$ adsorption behavior. Especially, RHO zeolite showed a transient $CO_2$ adsorption behavior. The 3h $CO_2$ up-take at 50 kPa and 500 kPa was 1.283 and 3.357 mmol/g, respectively. The $CO_2/H_2$ selectivity was around 16 at 500 kPa. Compared with gas adsorption data for some representative microporous adsorbents, it was certain that RHO zeolite is a beneficial adsorbent for $CO_2/H_2$ separation.

  • In the present study, water vapor adsorption was evaluated at 298.15K for 9 different zeolites having LTA, FAU, CHA, and RHO frameworks, and then effect of framework type, Si/Al molar ratio, and alkali ion type on water up-take was investigated. Zeolites showed water up-takes which were increased in an order of $RHO<CHA{\approx}LTA<FAU$ frameworks. NaY zeolite having FAU framework showed a water up-take of 406 mg/g at p/po=0.5. The up-take was a little larger than that of 13X zeolite with the same framework. Among LTA zeolites, Ca-type 5A zeolite showed the highest water adsorption (282 mg/g at p/po=0.5) which could be explained by the large pore volume. Both CHA zeolite with a Si/Al molar ratio of 2.35 and RHO zeolite with a Si/Al molar ratio of 3.56 showed considerable water up-takes, even though the Si/Al molar ratio was much larger than that of LTA zeolite. In the present study, it is announced that in addition to FAU and LTA zeolites, CHA and RHO zeolites can be a promising dehumidification adsorbent.

  • $\rho$, $\alpha$-dimethyl benzyl alcohol was resolved by the biphasic dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR). Acidic zeolite was used as a racemization catalyst while immobilized enzyme was employed for kinetic resolution. The effects of the process variables including nature of acyl donor, reaction temperature, substrate concentration, ratio of the two catalysts and stirring rate on the conversion and enantiomeric purity of the product were investigated. In DKR of $\rho$, $\alpha$-dimethyl benzyl alcohol, the product of 99% ee was obtained with a maximum yield of 88%. The high performance of the catalyst system was maintained in the condition of higher TON and under repeated use.

  • In this experiment porous calcium silicate (PCS) powder prepared by using a 50 mesh sieve was spread on top of chick droppings to investigate the odor from the manure. Zeolite was used as a comparative purpose. Reduction in ammonia production from chick droppings shortly after the PCS and zeolite application was evident (P<0.05), but there were no difference among treatments afterwards. hydrogen sulfide level was significantly lowered by both PCS and zeolite treatment(P<0.05).

  • Three fully dehydrated fully Rb+-exchanged zeolite A single crystals have been prepared by the reduction of all Na+ ions in dehydrated Na12-A by rubidium vapor at various experimental conditions (220 $\leq$ T $\leq$ 33$0^{\circ}C$, 2 $\leq$ t $\leq$24 hours, and 0.1 $\leq$ PRb $\leq$ 1.1 Torr). Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods in the space group {{{{ RHO }}m3m (a=12.245(3) A) at 22(1)$^{\circ}C$. In these structures 12.6(2) to 13.5(2) Rb species are found per unit cell, more than the 12 Rb+ ions needed to balance the anionic charge of the zeolite framework, indication that the sorption of Rb0 has occurred. In each structure, three Rb+ ions per unit cell are located at the centers of 8-rings. Beyond that, the fractional occupancies observed are simply explained by two unit cell arrangments. In one, two Rb+ ions are in the sodalite unit near opposite 6-rings, six are in the large cavity near 6-ring, and one is in the large cavity near a 4-ring. In the other, three Rb species in the sodalite cavity (forming a triangle 3.7 A on an edge) each bond (3.4 A) through a 6-ring to an Rb species in the large cavity to give an (Rb6)4+ cluster of symmetry 3m (C3V). Five additional Rb+ ions fill the remaining large-cavity 6-ring sites.

  • Three crystal structures of dehydrated $Ag^+$-and $Ca^{2+}$- exchanged zeolite $A(Ag_4Ca_4-A,\;Ag_^Ca_3-A,\;and\;Ag_8Ca_2-A)$ treated at 250${\circ}C$ with 0.1 Torr of Rb vapor have been determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction techniques in the cubic space group Pm3m at 21(1)${\circ}C$ (a=12,271(1)${\AA}$, 12.255(1)${\AA}$, and 12.339(1)${\AA}$, respectively). Their structures were refined to the final error indices. R(weighted) of 0.072 with 130 reflections, 0.050 with 110 reflections, and 0.083 with 86 reflections, respectively, for which $I>3{\rho}(I)$. In each structure, Rb species are found at three different crystallographic sites:3$Rb^+$+ions per unit cell are located at 8-ring centers, ca. 5.6 to 6.4 $Rb^+$ ions are found opposite 6-rings on threefold axes in the large cavity, and ca. 2.5 to 3.0 $Rb^+$ ions are found on threefold axes in the sodalite unit. Also, Ag species are found at two different crystallographic stites: ca. 0.7 to 2.1 $Ag^+$ lie opposite 4-rings and ca. 2.2 to 4.8 Ag atoms are located near the center of the large cavity. In these structures, the numbers of Ag atoms per unit cell are 2.2, 2.4, and 4.8, respectively, and these may form hexasilver clusters at the centers of the large cavities. The $Rb^+$ ions, by blocking 8-rings, may have prevented silver from migrating out of the structure. Each hexasilver cluster is stabilized by coordination to up to 13 $Rb^+$ions. An excess absorption of about 0.8 Rb atom per unit cell indicates that the presence of a triangular symmetric $(Rb_3)2^{+}$ cation in sodalite cavity. At least one large-cavity six-ring $Rb^+$ ion must necessarily approach this cluster and may be viewed as a member of it to give $(Rb)_4^{3+}$, $(Rb)_5^{4+}$ or $(Rb)_6^{5+}$.
