Predicting Unseen Object Pose with an Adaptive Depth Estimator (적응형 깊이 추정기를 이용한 미지 물체의 자세 예측)

  • Accurate pose prediction of objects in 3D space is an important visual recognition technique widely used in many applications such as scene understanding in both indoor and outdoor environments, robotic object manipulation, autonomous driving, and augmented reality. Most previous works for object pose estimation have the limitation that they require an exact 3D CAD model for each object. Unlike such previous works, this paper proposes a novel neural network model that can predict the poses of unknown objects based on only their RGB color images without the corresponding 3D CAD models. The proposed model can obtain depth maps required for unknown object pose prediction by using an adaptive depth estimator, AdaBins,. In this paper, we evaluate the usefulness and the performance of the proposed model through experiments using benchmark datasets.

Video Segmentation using the Automated Threshold Decision Algorithm (비디오 분할을 위한 자동 임계치 결정 알고리즘)

  • This Paper Propose a robust scene change detection technique that use the weighted chi-square test and the automated threshold-decision algorithm. The weighted chi-test can subdivide the difference values of individual color channels by calculating the color intensities according to mSC standard, and it can detect the scene change by joining the weighted color intensities to the predefined chi-test which emphasize the comparative color difference values. The automated decision algorithm uses the difference values of frame-to-frame that was obtained by the weighted chi-test. In the first step, The average of total difference value and standard deviation value is calculated and then, subtract the mean value from the each difference values. In the next step, the same process is performed on the remained difference value. The propose method is tested on various sources and in the experimental results, it is shown that the Proposed method is efficiently estimates the thresholds and reliably detects scene changes.

  • A new tongue examination model by using color analysis according to the taste division of tongue. The proposed system consists of a tongue image acquisition in a predefined template, taste region segmentation, color distribution analysis and abnormality decision of tongue by color analysis using Hue-Saturation histograms and the part of a mobile application service. We divided 4 basic taste(bitter, sweet, salty and sour) regions and performed color distribution analysis targeting each region under HSI(Hue Saturation Intensity) color model. To minimize the influence of illumination, the histograms of H and S components only except U are utilized. Using the analyzed results, the abnormality is discriminated by the criteria of the histogram range of normal tongues. Finally, a self tongue diagnosis system which can be used anytime and anywhere on mobile environment.

The Efficient Cut Detection Algorithm Using the Weight in News Video Data (뉴스 비디오 데이터에서의 가중치를 이용한 효율적 장면변환 검출 알고리즘)

  • In order to construct the News Video Database System, cut detection technique is very important. In general, the color histogram, $\chi$2 histogram or Bin-to-Bin difference(B2B) techniques are mainly using for the scene partitioning. In this paper, we propose the efficient algorithm that is applied the weight in terms of NTSC standard to cut detection. This algorithm is able to reduce the time of acquiring and comparing histogram using by separate calculation of R, G, and B for the color histogram technique. And it also provide the efficient selection method fo threshold value by and use the news videos of KBS, MBC, SBS, CNN and NHK as experimental domains. By the result of experiment, we present the proposed algorithm is more efficient for cut detection than the previous methods, and that the basis for the automatic selection of threshold values.

  • An eigen color co-occurrence approach is proposed that exploits the correlation between color channels to identify the degree of image similarity. This method is based on traditional co-occurrence matrix method and histogram equalization. On the purpose of feature extraction, eigen color co-occurrence matrices are computed for extracting the statistical relationships embedded in color images by applying Principal Component Analysis (PCA) on a set of color co-occurrence matrices, which are computed on the histogram equalized images. That eigen space is created with a set of orthogonal axes to gain the essential structures of color co-occurrence matrices, which is used to identify the degree of similarity to classify an input image to be tested for various purposes. In this paper RGB, Gaussian color space are compared with grayscale image in terms of PCA eigen features embedded in histogram equalized co-occurrence features. The experimental results are presented.

  • Many studies have been done to measure and analyze color for various purposes. Visual assessment has lack of objectivity and the equipment for color measurement is very expensive. In this study, we developed a device for quantitative analysis of the color using optical elements. With the color sensor, the ratio of RGB was calculated by measuring the light intensity that is reflected from an object. Inverse transformation of optical signal was performed to detect the color density. The suggested color analyzer can detect color information as well as sample concentration. Results of this study are expected to be used in various medical fields such as pH indicator and urine analysis.

  • A finger-gesture game controller using the single camera is implemented in this paper, which is based on the recognition of the number of fingers and the index finger moving direction. Proposed method uses the CAMShift algorithm to trace the end-point of index finger effectively. The number of finger is recognized by using a double circle tracing method. Then, HSI color mode transformation is performed for the CAMShift algorithm, and YCbCr color model is used in the double circle tracing method. Also, all processing tasks are implemented by using the Intel OpenCV library and C++ language. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we developed a shooting game simulator and validated the proposed method. The proposed method showed the average recognition ratio of more than 90% for each of the game command-mode.

A Method of Hand Recognition for Virtual Hand Control of Virtual Reality Game Environment (가상 현실 게임 환경에서의 가상 손 제어를 위한 사용자 손 인식 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a control method of virtual hand by the recognition of a user's hand in the virtual reality game environment. We display virtual hand on the game screen after getting the information of the user's hand movement and the direction thru input images by camera. We can utilize the movement of a user's hand as an input interface for virtual hand to select and move the object. As a hand recognition method based on the vision technology, the proposed method transforms input image from RGB color space to HSV color space, then segments the hand area using double threshold of H, S value and connected component analysis. Next, The center of gravity of the hand area can be calculated by 0 and 1 moment implementation of the segmented area. Since the center of gravity is positioned onto the center of the hand, the further apart pixels from the center of the gravity among the pixels in the segmented image can be recognized as fingertips. Finally, the axis of the hand is obtained as the vector of the center of gravity and the fingertips. In order to increase recognition stability and performance the method using a history buffer and a bounding box is also shown. The experiments on various input images show that our hand recognition method provides high level of accuracy and relatively fast stable results.

Face recognition rate comparison with distance change using embedded data in stereo images (스테레오 영상에서 임베디드 데이터를 이용한 거리에 따른 얼굴인식률 비교)

  • In this paper, we compare face recognition rate by PCA algorithm using distance change and embedded data being input left side and right side image in stereo images. The proposed method detects face region from RGB color space to YCbCr color space. Also, The extracted face image's scale up/down according to distance change and extracts more robust face region. The proposed method through an experiment could establish standard distance (100cm) in distance about 30∼200cm, and get 99.05% (100cm) as an average recognition result by scale change. The definition of super state is specification region in normalized size (92${\times}$112), and the embedded data extracts the inner factor of defined super state, achieved face recognition through PCA algorithm. The orignal images can receive specification data in limited image's size (92${\times}$112) because embedded data to do learning not that do all learning, in image of 92${\times}$112 size averagely 99.05%, shows face recognition rate of test 1 99.05%, test 2 98.93%, test 3 98.54%, test 4 97.85%. Therefore, the proposed method through an experiment showed that if apply distance change rate could get high recognition rate, and the processing speed improved as well as reduce face information.

  • This paper proposes a real-time face detection and tracking system that uses neural oscillators which can be applied to access regulation system or control systems of user authentication as well as a new algorithm. We study a way to track faces using the neural oscillatory network which imitates the artificial neural net of information handing ability of human and animals, and biological movement characteristic of a singular neuron. The system that is suggested in this paper can broadly be broken into two stages of process. The first stage is the process of face extraction, which involves the acquisition of real-time RGB24bit color video delivering with the use of a cheap webcam. LEGION(Locally Excitatory Globally Inhibitory)algorithm is suggested as the face extraction method to be preceded for face tracking. The second stage is a method for face tracking by discovering the leader neuron that has the greatest connection strength amongst neighbor neuron of extracted face area. Along with the suggested method, the necessary element of face track such as stability as well as scale problem can be resolved.
