In this paper, we designed a RF transceiver for small unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) using power switching method. To apply for the UAV, several characteristics such as size, weight, and power consumption are very important. To reduce power consumption, we propose a new power switching method. Using the proposed method, we fabricated the RF transceiver needed to establish the data link for a small UAV. The fabricated RF transceiver shows an output power of +25 dBm, a noise figure of 4.56 dB and a received signal strength of -100 dBm. By performing power measurement of proposed switching method, 25 % of power could be reduced. The size of the fabricated RF transceiver is $100{\times}60{\times}5.7mm^3$ and the weight is as small as 38 g.

This paper presents a 868/915 MHz CMOS RF transceiver for the ZigBee application. Using a switchless matching network, the off chip switch is removed to achieve the low cost RF transceiver, and by the elimination of the switch's insertion loss we can achieve the benefits for the RF receiver's noise figure and transmitter's power efficiency at the given output power. The receiver is composed of low-noise amplifier, mixer, and baseband analog(BBA) circuit. The transmitter is composed of BBA, mixer, and driver amplifier. And, the integer N type frequency synthesizer is designed. The proposed ZigBee RF full transceiver is implemented on the $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Measurement results show that the maximum gain and the noise figure of the receiver are 97.6 dB and 6.8 dB, respectively. The receiver consumes 32 mA in the receiver mode and the transmitter 33 mA in the transmission mode.

In this paper, ku-band RF transceiver system is designed for the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) line-of-sight(LOS) datalink. The RF transceiver system is consisted of the transmitting and receiving unit, RF front-end unit, and high power amplification unit. The transmitting and receiving unit has the functions of frequency up/down converting and channel changing. The RF front-end unit has the functions of transmitting and receiving signal duplexing, antenna selection, small signal amplification, and frequency filtering excluding the receiving signal. The high power amplification unit has the functions of ku-band power amplification and transmitting power variation(High/Middle/Low/Mute). The frequency up/down converting of transmitting and receiving unit is designed by using the superheterodyne method. The RF transceiver system is designed to obtain the broadband and high linearity properties for the reliable transmission and reception of high data-rate and high speed data. Also, the channel changing function is designed to use selectively the frequency as the operation environment of UAV.
In this paper, we investigate array calibration algorithms to derive a further improved version for correcting antenna array errors and RF transceiver errors in CDMA smart antenna systems. The structure of a multi-channel RF transceiver with a digital calibration apparatus and its calibration techniques are presented, where we propose a new RF receiver calibration scheme to minimize interference of the calibration signal on the user signals. The calibration signal is injected into a multi-channel receiver through a calibration signal injector whose array response vector is controlled in order to have a low correlation with the antenna response vector of the receive signals. We suggest a model-based antenna array calibration to remove the antenna array errors including mutual coupling errors or to predict the element patterns from the array manifold measured at a small number of angles. Computer simulations and experiment results are shown to verify the calibration algorithms.

Many pilot projects are developed using USN(Ubiquitous Sensor network). Recently USN has more attention to be used for the applications of circumstance monitoring. In order to acquire information from sensor nodes, sensor nodes need a RF transceiver. In this paper we describe the design of a RF transceiver, based on IEEE 802.15.4, for sensor nodes operating in 2.4GHz frequency band. The architecture to be implemented and the electrical performance specifications satisfied IEEE 802.15.4 are presented. The noise figure of a receiver, selectivity, phase noise of a frequency synthesizer, transmitter's linearity and spectrum mask are derived as a design parameters from the specifications of IEEE 802.15.4.
This paper presents a 900 MHz zero-IF RF transceiver for IEEE 802.15.4g Smart Utility Networks OFDM systems. The proposed RF transceiver comprises an RF front end, a Tx baseband analog circuit, an Rx baseband analog circuit, and a ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ fractional-N frequency synthesizer. In the RF front end, re-use of a matching network reduces the chip size of the RF transceiver. Since a T/Rx switch is implemented only at the input of the low noise amplifier, the driver amplifier can deliver its output power to an antenna without any signal loss; thus, leading to a low dc power consumption. The proposed current-driven passive mixer in Rx and voltage-mode passive mixer in Tx can mitigate the IQ crosstalk problem, while maintaining 50% duty-cycle in local oscillator clocks. The overall Rx-baseband circuits can provide a voltage gain of 70 dB with a 1 dB gain control step. The proposed RF transceiver is implemented in a $0.18{\mu}$ CMOS technology and consumes 37 mA in Tx mode and 38 mA in Rx mode from a 1.8 V supply voltage. The fabricated chip shows a Tx average power of -2 dBm, a sensitivity level of -103 dBm at 100 Kbps with PER < 1%, an Rx input $P_{1dB}$ of -11 dBm, and an Rx input IP3 of -2.3 dBm.
This paper presents a general-purpose design scheme of a filter bank (FB)-based radio frequency (RF) transceiver that operates across the entire ultra-high frequency (UHF) TV band from 470 MHz to 698 MHz and complies with the TV white space (TVWS) regulatory requirements. To this end, an intermediate frequency (IF) band-pass filter (BPF) with a sharp skirt characteristic is considered as a solution for handling the incoming signals from a baseband modem. Specifically, an FB-based BPF structure with four ceramic resonator filters that effectively rejects unwanted signals is proposed to extract a desired signal in the TV band. Achievable data rates of a cognitive radio system (CRS) employing the proposed FB-based RF transceiver at the application layer are investigated in both wired and wireless environments. The service coverage of the CRS network is measured according to several modulation and coding schemes (MCSs) of the CRS. The results show that the coverage of a wireless network in a nearly open area can be extended by more than 9.3 km in the TVWS. Experimental results also confirm that the proposed FB-based RF transceiver is adequate for utilization in TVWS applications.
This paper proposes a new automatic compensation network (ACN) for a system-on-chip (SoC) transceiver. We built a 5 GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) with an on-chip ACN using 0.18 ${\mu}m$ SiGe technology. This network is extremely useful for today's radio frequency (RF) integrated circuit devices in a complete RF transceiver environment. The network comprises an RF design-for-testability (DFT) circuit, capacitor mirror banks, and a digital signal processor. The RF DFT circuit consists of a test amplifier and RF peak detectors. The RF DFT circuit helps the network to provide DC output voltages, which makes the compensation network automatic. The proposed technique utilizes output DC voltage measurements and these measured values are translated into the LNA specifications such as input impedance, gain, and noise figure using the developed mathematical equations. The ACN automatically adjusts the performance of the 5 GHz LNA with the processor in the SoC transceiver when the LNA goes out of the normal range of operation. The ACN compensates abnormal operation due to unusual thermal variation or unusual process variation. The ACN is simple, inexpensive and suitable for a complete RF transceiver environment.
This paper is about the RF transceiver designed and implementation for common data link. The trasmitter is configured as a frequency up-converter, a power amplifier and a duplexer. The receiver is configured as a duplxer, a frequency down-converter and a low noise amplifier. The maximum transmission distance, the reception sensitivity is designed to meet the electrical and temperature characteristics and the like. Using a modeling and simulation in order to meet the requirements of the RF transceiver has been designed and implemented. Transmitting output power and Noise Figure has been measured with 38.58dBm and 5.5dB, respectively. All of the electrical and temperature specifications was meet. Was confirmed all of the requirement specification by electrical characteristics test and temperature characteristics test.
