Design of 5.5 GHz Band Oscillator for local wireless Communication system (근거리 무선통신용 5.5 GHz 대역 발진기 설계)

  • This paper shows the design, fabrication and performance of oscillator appled to 5.5GHz RF module for local wireless communication system. Super low noise HJ FET of NE3210S01 is used to obtain a good phase noise Performance. The design Parameters for the optimum operating performance are simulated with ADS simulation. The measured out Power is 10 dBm at 5.5GHz, the second harmonic suppression -31 dBc, and the phase noise characteristics -98.83 dBc at 100kHz offset frequency, respectively. This implemented oscillator is available to local wireless Communication system.

  • This study presents a hybrid balanced voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) circuit which is suitable for low phase noise operation at sub-1V supply voltages. Half circuits of the proposed VCO use the varactor-integrated feedback capacitors in their respective circuit. The varactor-integrated feedback capacitors further increase the negative resistance of the equivalent tank thereby ensuring stable start-up of oscillation even at the sub-1V supply voltage. In addition, this work theoretically analyses the phenomenon of the increase of the negative resistance. Simulation results using a $0.18{\mu}m$ RF CMOS technology exhibit the phase noises of -122.4 to -125.5.8 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from oscillation frequency of 4.87 GHz over the supply voltages of 0.6 through 0.9 V.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a broadband LNA(Low Noise Amplifier), a mixer, and oscillators in RF module part for radar detector. For resolving the limitation of the conventional product that the sensitivity is low due to the poor gain flatness, we propose the architecture of RF module part. The proposed RF module part is composed with a broadband 2-stage LNA, a mixer, and three oscillators, and improves the maximum gain and gain flatness for detecting various frequencies. The overall performances of RF module part are above 38 dB conversion gain in whole band and 1 dB gain flatness. These results show that the maximum gain which is the problem of the conventional product is improved 6 dB from 35 dB to 41 dB, and gain flatness is also improved 17 dB from 22 dB to 5 dB.

  • CW나 pluse의 형태로 RF를 발진하는 고출력 전자파 발진기는 레이더 체계의 기본요소이다. 레이더 체계의 성공적인 운행을 위한 요건 중에 적합한 전자파 발진기의 선택과 개발을 무시할 수 없다. 이차세계대전을 전후로 활발히 개발되었던 전자파 발진기들 중에는 널리 알려진 Magnetron과 klystron 이 있고 TWT(traveling wave tube)도 그 후 널리 사용되는 발진기이다. 지난 반세기를 지나오며 성능 및 신뢰도 등에서 괄목할만한 발전을 이루었으며 밀리미터파대역의 고출력 발진을 위해 gyrotron 등이 지난 30년간 개발되었다. 현재는 성능, 크기(무게) 및 가격의 문제뿐 아니라 고정밀 영상을 위한 고주파 발진기의 개발이 추진되고 있다. 여기서는 현재 레이더에 쓰이고 있는 magnetron, klystron, TWT 및 gyrotron에 대한 간략한 배경, 원리 및 특성 등을 비교 설명하였다.

A Highly Linear Self Oscillating Mixer Using Second Harmonic Injection (2차 고조파 주입을 사용한 고 선형성의 자체 발진 혼합기)

  • In this paper, a highly linear self oscillating mixers(SOM) using second harmonic injections are presented. The H-slot defected ground structure(DGS) is designed as a balanced resonator for oscillation in the proposed SOM. Since the H-slot DGS resonator achieves a high Q factor, it is a suitable structure to provide low phase noise for the oscillator. The single balanced mixer is utilized in this work and it provides good LO-RF isolation since balanced LO signals are suppressed at the RF input port. In order to inject the second harmonic of the IF, we propose two different methods using feedback loops. In the first method, IF achieves a 3.08 dB conversion gain at 226 MHz with input power of -20 dBm at 5 GHz RF input signal. The IF achieves 2 dB conversion gain at 423 MHz with the input power of -20 dBm at 5.2 GHz RF input signal in the second method. The measured IMD3s are 61.8 dB and 65 dB for the each method. These SOMs present improved linearity compared to that without the second harmonic injection because IMD3s are improved by 18. dB and 21 dB for each method.

  • In this paper, we propose the PLL system of the local oscillator system for the millimeter wave band's radio astronomy receiving system. The development of the proposed local oscillator system based on the YIG oscillator VCO with $26.5\~40GHz$ specification. This system consists of the oscillator part including the YIG VCO, the harmonic mixer, and the isolator, the RF processing part including the triplexer, limiter, and RF discrimination processor, and the PLL system including YIG modulator and controller. Based on this configuration, we verify the frequency and power stability of the developed local oscillator system according to some temperature variation. From this test results we confirm the stable output frequency and power characteristic peformance of the developed LO system at constant temperature.

  • This paper shows the design, fabrication and performance analysis of VCO which plays a major role in 5.8 GHz RF module for ITS. The design specifications of the VCO are determined on the basis of 5.8 GHz RF modul performance requirements. The design parameters are optimized through ADS simulation tool. The operating characteristic and performance analysis of the implemented VCO based on the design parameters are accomplished. The frequency variations according to the voltage change(0 ~5 V) of varactor diode are from 5.42 GHz to 5.518 GHz and the power level is 6.5 dBm. The second harmonic suppression are -21.5 dBc at 5.51 GHz and the phase noise characteristics are -83.81 dBc at 10 kHz offset frequency. The implemented VCO is available to not only DSRC and also, 5.8 GHz other systems.

  • 633M He-Ne 레이저의 반사경의 비등방성에 의한 발진 주파수 편이 및 레이저 매질의 분산특성 때문에 기인하는 레이저 주파수 당김효과를 측정하였다. 내부 반사경형 레이저 공진기에서 발진하는 종모드사이의 맥놀이 신호를 RF-스펙트럼 분석기로 분석하므로써 90kHz의 주파수 편이량차를 측정하였다.
