The hearth roll, which transfers the cold-rolled strip sheet in a Continuous Annealing Line (CAL), is always subjected to changes in the surface temperature and subsequently experiences thermal stress in service. These variations lead to the generation of thermal cracks on the hearth roll surface as well local plastic deformation. We performed finite element analysis to predict the thermal stress changes on the hearth roll surface and designed the collar shape of the hearth roll to minimize these thermal stresses. Results show that the hearth roll with a collar having an obtuse angle is much more effective than a hearth roll with collar having a right angle when the tangential stress, which is one of main causes leading to surface cracks, is compared for the various conditions. It was found that the tangential stress and the temperature on the surface of hearth roll can be reduced by 51.9% and 26℃ if the shape of roll on collar is re-designed.
Rotor wake interaction must be considered to understand the quadrotor flight, and the rotor separation distance is an important parameter that affects the rotor wake interaction. In this study, the wake characteristics were investigated with varying the rotor separation distance. The velocity field in the rotor wake was measured using digital PIV for hovering mode at Re = 34,000, and the wake boundaries from the inner and outer rotor tips were quantitatively compared with varying the rotor separation distance. The symmetric rotor-tip vortex shedding about the rotor axis was found at a large rotor separation distance. However, the wake boundary became more asymmetric about the rotor axis with decreasing the rotor separation distance. At the minimum rotor separation distance, in particular, a faster vortex decay was observed due to a strong vortex interaction between adjacent rotors.

An experimental study was carried out in order to investigate the influence of boundary layer behavior on the near-wake at low Reynolds numbers. An X-type hot-film probe(55R51) was used to measure the near-wake of an NACA 0012 airfoil at static angles of attack ${\alpha}=0^{\circ}$, $3^{\circ}$, and $6^{\circ}$, and the Reynolds numbers Re=2.3${\times}10^4$, 3.3${\times}10^4$, and 4.8${\times}10^4$. The results of the study show that the characteristics of the boundary layer on the airfoil surface have a close relationship with the mean velocity and turbulence intensity profiles of a near-wake. Therefore, the development of the boundary layer, the position of the separation point, and the existence and non-existence of reattachment on the airfoil surface were represented by the differences in mean velocity and turbulence intensity profiles of the near-wake.

This paper presents a fast and stable imaging scheme using the localized nonlinear (LN) approximation of integral equation (IE) solutions for inverting electromagnetic data obtained in a crosswell survey. The medium is assumed to be cylindrically symmetric about a source borehole, and to maintain the symmetry a vertical magnetic dipole is used as a source. To find an optimum balance between data fitting and smoothness constraint, we introduce an automatic selection scheme for a Lagrange multiplier, which is sought at each iteration with a least misfit criterion. In this selection scheme, the IE algorithm is quite attractive for saving computing time because Green's functions, whose calculation is a most time-consuming part in IE methods, are repeatedly re-usable throughout the inversion process. The inversion scheme using the LN approximation has been tested to show its stability and efficiency, using both synthetic and field data. The inverted image derived from the field data, collected in a pilot experiment of water-flood monitoring in an oil field, is successfully compared with that derived by a 2.5-dimensional inversion scheme.
In this paper, we present a structure of personalized e-Learning system to study for a test formalized by uniform multiple-choice using on/off line mixed estimations as is the case of Driver :s License Test in Korea. Using the system a candidate can study toward the license through the Internet (and/or mobile instruments) within the personalized concept based on IRT(item response theory). The system accurately estimates user's ability parameter and dynamically offers optimal evaluation problems and learning contents according to the estimated ability so that the user can take possession of the license in shorter time. In order to establish the personalized e-Learning concepts, we build up 3 databases and 2 agents in this system. Content DB maintains learning contents for studying toward the license as the shape of objects separated by concept-unit. Item-bank DB manages items with their parameters such as difficulties, discriminations, and guessing factors, which are firmly related to the learning contents in Content DB through the concept of object parameters. User profile DB maintains users' status information, item responses, and ability parameters. With these DB formations, Interface agent processes user ID, password, status information, and various queries generated by learners. In addition, it hooks up user's item response with Selection & Feedback agent. On the other hand, Selection & Feedback agent offers problems and content objects according to the corresponding user's ability parameter, and re-estimates the ability parameter to activate dynamic personalized learning situation and so forth.

Purpose: This study aimed to survey caregivers of patients with Neuromuscular Rare and Incurable Disease (NRID) using invasive home mechanical ventilator (HMV), in order to compare the incident rate of pneumonia by tracheal suction procedures used. Method: Participants were 99 family caregivers of NRID patients using HMV. Participants were given a questionnaire consisting of 12 demographic items, 10 items about disease and HMV related characteristics, 11 items about tracheal suction procedures, and 2 items about the incidence of pneumonia. Data were analyzed using chi-square tests and t-tests. Results: The items that predicted the incidence of pneumonia were "change of irrigation saline every suction" (p=.047), "use of aseptic catheter every suction" (p=.004), and "instillation of normal saline before suction" (p=.027). In addition, these items were 47.4%, 51.4%, and 38.8% respectively. Conclusion: Family members caring for NRID patients with invasive HMV should be educated about tracheal suction, especially the necessity of changing irrigation saline after every suction, using the aseptic catheter for every suction, and instillation of normal saline before suction. Medical personnel such as home care nurses should periodically check tracheal suction procedures, and re-educate family caregivers when necessary.
The nucleotide sequences of 185 rRNAs of the five Korean decapods were partially determined by the direct sequencing method using the reverse transcriptase. ne average GC content of five species was 51.1% which is higher than that of yeast(45.0%) and lower than those of frog (53.0%) and rat (55.6%). This result follows the general patterns of the GC content in the nucleotides of the nucleic acid shown among the various phylogenetic groups. The average ratio of transrional/transversional nucleotide substitution of pairwise comparison among six species (including Anemia salina) was 1.200 $\pm$ 0.310 when whole region alas examined. However, the ratio showed some differences when the conservative regions and variable regions frere separatelv examined. The molecular phylogenies of the five species were constructed by using two different tree making methods. In general the results support the previously reported molecular phylogeny of the decapod crustaceans. However, our results indicate thats in the analysis of the sequence dat3, the UPGMA clustering method of the distance matrix method should be carefully employed after considering the rate of nucneotide substitution in the different regions of the molecule.
A study has been made on defects which are formed in manufacturing processes of engine bearing and also on fatigue crack growth behavior in each step of bearing metal manufacturing. After the first step (sinter brass powder on steel plate ; Series A) many voids are made on brass surface and its size is decreased at the second step (rolling process of sintered plate ; Series B). After the third step (re-sintering step of brass powder and rolling ; Series C) the number of voids is decreased and its type shows line. The time of fatigue crack initiation and the growth rate of fatigue crack are in order of Series A, Series B, Series C. These reasons are that void fosters the crack initiation and growth, and residual stress made by rolling process affects on the crack growth rate in Series B, C. In forming and machining processes by use of final bearing metal, crack was observed at internal corner of flange and peeling off was observed at interface between steel and brass. Owing to the above crack and peeling off, it is considered that there is a possibility of fatigue fracture during the application time.
This thesis analyzes the latest operating concept and status for Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) researching overseas ADIZ CONOPS, international legal basis for ADIZ, the intention & background of proclamation for China Air Defense Identification Zone(CADIZ). Firstly, ADIZ is lawful concerning international connivance for ADIZ where around 20 countries have operated, Article 56 "Rights, jurisdiction & duties of the coastal State" and Article 301 "Peaceful uses of the seas" on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea(UNCLS). Secondly, ADIZ has been regarded as a support means for national interest & policy as well as military air defense one. Thirdly, Based on legal re-interpretation for UNCLS relating to ADIZ, China proclaimed CADIZ where can ensure national maritime policy and strategy including A2/AD(Anti-Access & Area Defence), inroad into the ocean, claim for Senkaku Islands possession, etc..
