Flowable fills are self-leveling, liquid-like materials, and self-compacting to 95-100% of the maximum unit weight. Benefits of flowable fills include limited required labor, accelerated construction, ready placement at inaccessible locations, and the ability to be manually re-excavated. Applications for flowable fills include utility trenches, building excavations, underground storage tanks, abandoned sewers and utility lines, and filling underground mine shafts The objective of this study is to estimate engineering property of flowable fills made of soil mixed with recycled stylofoam and stabilizer for using geotechnical field. For this study, the uniaxial compression test, flowable test, and model tests were performed. Based on the results of the tests, the following conclusions are : fills made of soil mixed with recycled stylofoam and stabilizer can be used as flowable fills, minimum stabilizer quantity for using flowable fills ranges from 1.0($kN/m^3$) to 1.2 ($kN/m^3$).

The ceramic capacitor was fabricated by $(Ba_{0.85}Ca_(0.15)TiO_3+ZnO$ + ZnO(from 0.1 to 0.4 mol ratio). The electrical and structural properties of ceramic capacitor for high voltage application was studied in this study. The relative rensity of ceramics capacitor has shown high in all specimen. The grain was a small size from $1.0[\mum]$ to $1.22[\mum]$ and it was increased with ZnO at 0.3 mol ratio. It was stabilized that the temperature coefficient of ceramic capacitor to change temperature had below 100[ppm] at 0.12~10[kHz]. The dielectric reIaxation time was decreased by interface polarization over $110[^{\circ}C]$ and it was increased by space polarization of paraelectric layer below $110[^{\circ}C]$. The insulating layer was increased with ZnO and dielectric constant to voltage was stabilized by 0.1[%].0.1[%].
In this paper, the shear behavior of soft filling in rectangular-hollow concrete specimens was simulated using the 2D particle flow code (PFC2D). The laboratory-measured properties were used to calibrate some PFC2D micro-properties for modeling the behavior of geo-materials. The dimensions of prepared and modeled samples were 100 mm×100 mm. Some disc type narrow bands were removed from the central part of the model and different lengths of bridge areas (i.e., the distance between internal tips of two joints) with lengths of 30 mm, 50 mm, and 70 mm were produced. Then, the middle of the rectangular hollow was filled with cement material. Three filling sizes with dimensions of 5 mm×5 mm, 10 mm×5 mm, and 15 mm×5 mm were provided for different modeled samples. The parallel bond model was used to calibrate and re-produce these modeled specimens. Therefore, totally, 9 different types of samples were designed for the shear tests in PFC2D. The shear load was gradually applied to the model under a constant loading condition of 3 MPa (σc/3). The loading was continued till shear failure occur in the modeled concrete specimens. It has been shown that both tensile and shear cracks may occur in the fillings. The shear cracks mainly initiated from the crack (joint) tips and coalesced with another one. The shear displacements and shear strengths were both increased as the filling dimensions increased (for the case of a bridge area with a particular fixed length).
Background: Cynara scolymus has bioactive constituents and has been used for therapeutic actions. The present study was undertaken to investigate the mechanisms underlying pain-relieving effects of the hydroethanolic extract of C. scolymus (HECS). Methods: The antinociceptive activity of HECS was assessed through formalin and acetic acid-induced writhing tests at doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg intraperitoneally. Additionally, naloxone (non-selective opioid receptors antagonist, 2 mg/kg), atropine (non-selective muscarinic receptors antagonist, 1 mg/kg), chlorpheniramine (histamine H1-receptor antagonist, 20 mg/kg), cimetidine (histamine H2-receptor antagonist, 12.5 mg/kg), flumazenil (GABAA/BDZ receptor antagonist, 5 mg/kg) and cyproheptadine (serotonin receptor antagonist, 4 mg/kg) were used to determine the systems implicated in HECS-induced analgesia. Impact of HECS on locomotor activity was executed by open-field test. Determination of total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) was done. Evaluation of antioxidant activity was conducted employing 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging assay. Results: HECS (50, 100 and 200 mg/kg) significantly indicated dose dependent antinociceptive activity against pain-related behavior induced by formalin and acetic acid (P < 0.001). Pretreatment with naloxone, atropine and flumazenil significantly reversed HECS-induced analgesia. Antinociceptive effect of HECS remained unaffected by chlorpheniramine, cimetidine and cyproheptadine. Locomotor activity was not affected by HECS. TPC and TFC of HECS were 59.49 ± 5.57 mgGAE/g dry extract and 93.39 ± 17.16 mgRE/g dry extract, respectively. DPPH free radical scavenging activity (IC50) of HECS was 161.32 ± 0.03 ㎍/mL. Conclusions: HECS possesses antinociceptive activity which is mediated via opioidergic, cholinergic and GABAergic pathways.
Background: Glove reuse poses risks, as chemicals can persist even after cleaning. Decontamination methods like thermal aeration, recommended by US OSHA, vary in effectiveness. Some studies show promising results, while others emphasize the importance of considering both permeation and tensile strength changes. This research advocates for informed glove reuse, emphasizing optimal thermal aeration temperatures and providing evidence to guide users in maintaining protection efficiency. Methods: The investigation evaluated Neoprene and Nitrile gloves (22 mils). Permeation tests with toluene and acetone adhered to American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) F739 standards. Decontamination optimization involved aeration at various temperatures. The experiment proceeded with a maximum of 22 re-exposure cycles. Tensile strength and elongation were assessed following ASTM D 412 protocols. Breakthrough time differences were statistically analyzed using t-test and ANOVA. Results: At room temperature, glove residuals decreased, and standardized breakthrough time (SBT)2 was significantly lower than SBT1, indicating reduced protection. Higher temperature decontamination accelerated residual removal, with ∆SBT (SBT2/SBT1) exceeding 100%, signifying restored protection. Tensile tests showed stable neoprene properties postdecontamination. Results underscore thermal aeration's efficacy for gloves reuse, emphasizing temperature's pivotal role. Findings recommend meticulous management strategies, especially post-breakthrough, to uphold glove-protective performance. Conclusions: Thermal aeration at 100℃ for 1 hour proves effective, restoring protection without compromising glove strength. The study, covering twenty cycles, suggests safe glove reuse with proper decontamination, reducing costs significantly. However, limitations in chemical-glove combinations and exclusive focus on specific gloves caution against broad generalization. The absence of regulatory directives on glove reuse highlight the importance of informed selection and rigorous decontamination validation for workplace safety practices.

This study was conducted to investigate the biodegradation of gaseous trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in an activated carbon biofilter inoculated with phenol-oxidizing microorganisms and to study the effect of surfactant concentration below its critical micelle concentration (CMC) on the re-moval efficiency of TCE or PCE. The investigation was conducted using two specially built stainless steel biofilters, one for TCE and the other for PCE, at residence times of 1.5~7 min. The removal efficiency of gaseous TCE was 100% at a residence time of 7 min and its average inlet concentration of 85 ppm. For gaseous PCE, 100% removal efficiency was obtained at residence times of 4~7 min and its average concentrations of 47~84 ppm. It was found that adsorption by GAC was a minor mechanism for TCE and PCE removal in the activated carbon biofilters. Transformation yields of gaseous TCE and PCE were about 8~48 g of TCE/g of phenol and 6~25g of PCE/g of phenol, according to residence times. This values showed one or two orders of magnitude less than aqueous TCE degradation. The TCE and PCE activated carbon biofilter performances were observed to be a little enhanced but not significantly, when the surfactant was introduced at concentrations of 5~50 mg/L.

This study was conducted to evaluate the phytotoxicity of imazosulfuron+fentrazamide mixture in rice field. It is recommended that safe herbicide application was obtained at 3 cm of transplanting depth and in sandy loam or loam soil type. In the direct water seeding of rice, imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC should be applied at least 10 days before sowing land ower than 25+100 g ai/ha. In case of imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC application after sowing, If we use the herbicide 15 days after sowing, no herbicide symptoms will be detected even though the amounts of the herbicide increase. In the rice transplanting, it is recommended that imazosulfuron+fentrazamide GR is applied 5 days after transplanting. In case of sequential herbicide application, the imazosulfuron+fentrazamide SC application at 75+300 g ai/ha 15 or 20 days after transplanting after the application at 25+100 g ai/ha or 50+200 g ai/ha 3 days before sowing increases weed control efficacy and gives no phytotoxicity in the rice growth.
The ferroelectric (Y $b_{x}$$Y_{1-x}$)Mn $O_3$ thin films were fabricated by sol-gel method using Y-acetate, Yb-acetate, and Mn-acetate as raw materials. The stable (Y $b_{x}$$Y_{1-x}$)Mn $O_3$ precursor solution (sol) was prepared through the reflux process with acetylaceton as a catalyst and coated on Si(100) substrate by spin coating. The heat treatment temperature and, Rw ($H_2O$/alkoxide moi ratio) dependence on crystallinity of thin films were studied. The lowest temperature for obtaining YbMn $O_3$phase and the optimum heat-treatment conditions were proved as at 7$50^{\circ}C$ and 80$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The hexagonal YbMn $O_3$with c-axis preferred orientation could be obtained at Rw=1 condition. The remanent polarization for the thin films of x=0 or 1 was about 200 nC/㎤ while, for the specimens ot 0< x< 1, were 50∼100 nC/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
This experiment was carried out to develop the preparation method of chitosan which has strong antimicrobial activity, and also tried to investigate as a natural food preservative with this chitosan. The antimicrobial activity of chitosan was the strongest when deacetylation of chitin was conducted at $146^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours with $50\%$ sodium hydroxide. The growth of Escherichia coil was completely inhibited by adding this low molecular weight chitosan (M. W, 35,000) at the level of concentration of 75ppm to the medium. The antimicrobial activity was strong enough against such Gram positive bacteria as Staphylococcus sp. and Bacillus sp.. The growth of these strains was inhibited by the concentration of 50ppm but it was varied in its kinds against Gram negative bacteria. The concentration of chitosan re-quired for growth inhibition of microorganisms was 100ppm against Pseudomonas sp. and Vibrio sp., 2,000ppm against Salmonella sp.. The growth of Saccharomyces sp. was inhibited by the concentration of 100ppm, but Hansenula sp., Aspergillus sp., Penicillium sp. and Mu-cor sp. did not inhibited by even more than the concentration of 5,000ppm. The shelf life of Mulkimchi (pickle type Kimchi), containing $0.2\%$ chitosan was 10 days longer than control stored at $5^{\circ}C$.
The diagnostic multileaf collimator(MLC) was designed for patient dose reduction in diagnostic radiography We used monte carlo simulation code (MCNPX, LANL, USA) to evaluate efficiency of shielding material for making diagnostic MLC as preliminary study. The diagnostic radiography unit was designed using SRS-78 program according to tube voltage (80,100,120 kVp) and acquired energy spectrums. The shielding material was SKD11 alloy tool steel that is composed of 1.6% carbon(C), 0.4% silicon(Si), 0.6% manganese (Mn), 5% chromium (Cr), 1% molybdenum(Mo) and vanadium(V). The density of it was $7.89g/cm^3$.Using tally card 6, we calculated the shielding efficiency of MLC according to tube voltage. The results was that 98.3% (80 kVp), 95.7 %(100 kVp), 93.6% (120 kVp). We certified efficiency of diagnostic MLC fabricated from SKD11 alloy steel by monte calro simulation. Based on the results, we designed the diagnostic MLC and will develop the diagnostic MLC for reduction of patient dose in diagnostic radiography.
