Until now, design of Earth Retaining is practiced by 2nd dimensional analysis for convenience of analysis and time saving. However, the construction field is 3rd dimension, in this study, practised the 3rd dimensional analysis which can reflect the field condition more exactly the scope of earth retaining wall, and researched about the effective and economical way of design, compared and reviewed with the results, by practising both the 2nd and 3rd dimensional analysis. existing 2nd dimension. the depth of excavation, depth of embedded and soil condition. As result, under the whole conditions, more displacement came to appear to the value as result of 3rd dimensional analysis more than the result of 2nd dimensional analysis. Accordingly, the displacement by the 2nd dimension analysis is underestimated. Moreover, results of 2nd and 3rd dimensional analysis, there is no difference at displacement, when the depth of embedded is 0.5H, 1.0H and 1.5H, but Displacement of 1.5H is smaller than 0.5H, 1.0H. That is, the bigger the depth of embedded becomes, the displacement of Earth Retaining Wall appeared smaller. The displacement of earth retaining wall according to depth of excavation appeared bigger, when the depth of excavation is increased. In the meantime, when the soil condition is different, in the 2nd dimensional analysis, the displacement appeared biggest, in case of the clay layer, but in the 3rd dimensional analysis, in the beginning of excavating, the displacement of earth retaining wall appeared bigger in case of clay layer, but as excavating is in progress, the displacement of both compound soil layer and sand layer appeared big.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficacy of a lactose- reduced synbiotic partial whey hydrolysate in formula fed infants presenting with colic and the impact of this dietary intervention in mean crying time and quality of life. Methods: Forty infants with infantile colic were treated during one month with parental reassurance and the intervention formula (partial whey hydrolysate, reduced lactose, Bifidobacterium lactis BB12 and galacto-oligosaccharides) and were compared to a control group of 20 infants with infantile colic treated with parental reassurance and a standard infant formula. Parents completed a quality of life (QoL) questionnaire assessing the burden of infantile colic. Wilcoxon test, t-test and Mann-Whitney test were used to compare QoL scores before and after intervention as well as between the intervention and control group. Results: At inclusion, duration of crying did not differ between both groups. Crying duration decreased with 2.7 hours (from 3.2 to 0.5 hours) in the intervention group while duration of crying decreased only with 1.2 hours in the control group (p<0.001). Stool composition became looser in the intervention group, but defecation frequency did not change. The median scores of the QoL questionnaire improved significantly in the intervention group for all parameters. In the control group, parameters improved significantly also but not for the parent-child and social interaction. The score changes were significantly greater in the intervention than in the control group. Conclusion: The intervention formula (partial whey hydrolysate, synbiotic, reduced lactose) significantly reduced the duration of crying and improved QoL of the parents and infants.
Objective : This study was performed to evaluate and compare the efficacies of caudal epidural injections performed at prone and lateral decubitus positions. Methods : A total of 120 patients suffering from low back pain and radicular leg pain were included and patients were randomly distributed into 2 groups according to the position during injection. In Group 1 (n=60; 32 women, 28 men), caudal epidural injection was performed at prone position, whereas it was implemented at lateral decubitus position in Group 2 (n=60; 33 women, 27 men). Visual analogue scale, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), walking tolerance (WT) and standing tolerance (ST) were compared in 2 groups before and after injection. Results : In Group 1, ODI values were higher at 30th minute (p=0.007), 3rd week (p=0.043) and 6th month (p=0.013). In Group 1, ODI, VAS and ST values were improved significantly at all follow-up periods compared to initial values. In Group 1, WT scores were better than initial values at 30th minute, 3rd week and 3rd month. In Group 2, ODI scores at 30th minute, 3rd week, 3rd month and 6th month were improved while VAS and ST scores were improved at all periods after injection. WT scores were better at 30th minute, 3rd week and 3rd month compared to initial WT scores. Conclusion : Our results indicated that application of injection procedure at lateral decubitus position allowing a more concentrated local distribution may provide better relief of pain.
For the modification of kiln drying schedule, relations between resistance to drying Rd and the moisture content or drying times were found for 4/4, 6/4 and 8/4 green Douglas fir heartwood by the mild drying schedule and the severe drying schedule until the average moisture content was about 10 percent. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Resistance to drying of thicker lumber was higher than that of thinner lumber and resistance to drying of three different thicknesses were negligible between the mild-and the severe drying schedule. The relationships between resistance to drying and two schedules or three thicknesses of lumber were $Rd_1=1.830{\times}10^5\;M^{-2.24}$ for 4/4 lumber by the mild drying schedule, $Rd_2=1.822{\times}10^5\;M^{-2.25}$ for 4/4 lumber by the severe drying schedule, $Rd_3=2.352{\times}10^5\;M^{-2.14}$ for 6/4 lumber by the mild drying schedule, $Rd_4=3.457{\times}10^5\;M^{-2.27}$ for 6/4 lumber by the severe drying schedule, $Rd_5=1.317{\times}10^6\;M^{-2.56}$ for 8/4 lumber by the mild drying schedule, $Rd_6=8.267{\times}10^5\;M^{-2.40}$ for 8/4 lumber by the severe drying schedule. 2. Thinner lumber exhibited lower level of moisture content and shorter drying time required at intersection point between the moisture content and resistance to drying as a function of drying time than those of thicker lumber. Drying time of mild drying was longer than that of severe drying and similar to the level of moisture content at intersection point.
After a vital pulpotomy in dogs' teeth, the responses of the remaining pulp tissue under hydroxides (calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, aluminium hydroxide and zinc hydroxide) were studied histologically. The class V cavities were prepared on the teeth and the pulp was amputated. Each hydroxide was placed over the amputated tissue and the cavity was sealed with zinc oxide eugenol cement. Animals were sacrificed after 3 days, 1, 2, and 3 weeks following the operation. The teeth were decalcified, sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Microscopic examination reveals as follows; 1. Calcium hydroxide: Inflammatory change was seen in the superficial portion of the remaining pulp tissue at the 3rd day and 1st week. The incompleted calicified material began to be deposited from the canal wall at the 2nd week, and the advanced calcified material was seen at the 3rd week. 2. Magnesium hydroxide: Severe inflammatory change was seen in the superficial portion of the remaining pulp from the 3rd day and the 1st week samples. Inflammatory change was decreased at the 2nd week and the slight calcified material was deposited from the root canal at the 3rd week. 3. Aluminium hydroxide: Severe inflammatory changes were seen in the remaining pulp tissue, the blood vessel was dilated, and the odontoblasts were destroyed at the 3rd day and 1st week. The fibrous degeneration spread to the apex at the 2nd week. There was no evidence of newly formed odontoblasts or deposition of calcified material underneath aluminium hydroxide. 4. Zinc hydroxide: The micrscopic picture was destructive. A thick necrotic layer was found under the amputated surface at the 3rd day and 1st week. Granulation tissue formation as well as chronic inflammatory changes extended to the apical area in the pulp tissue. Also there were no sign of odontoblastic formation or calcified material at the 2nd and 3rd week.

Background: There is limited understanding of the effect of dietary components on the absorption of ginsenosides and their metabolites into the blood. Methods: This study investigated the pharmacokinetics of the ginseng extract and its main constituent ginsenoside Rb1 in rats with or without pretreatment with a prebiotic fiber, NUTRIOSE, by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. When ginsenoside Rb1 was incubated with rat feces, its main metabolite was ginsenoside Rd. Results: When the intestinal microbiota of rat feces were cultured in vitro, their ginsenoside Rd-forming activities were significantly induced by NUTRIOSE. When ginsenoside Rb1 was orally administered to rats, the maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the plasma drug concentratione-time curve (AUC) for the main metabolite, ginsenoside Rd, were $72.4{\pm}31.6ng/mL$ and $663.9{\pm}285.3{\mu}g{\cdot}h/mL$, respectively. When the ginseng extract (2,000 mg/kg) was orally administered, Cmax and AUC for ginsenoside Rd were $906.5{\pm}330.2ng/mL$ and $11,377.3{\pm}4,470.2{\mu}g{\cdot}h/mL$, respectively. When ginseng extract was orally administered to rats fed NUTRIOSE containing diets (2.5%, 5%, or 10%), Cmax and AUC were increased in the NUTRIOSE receiving groups in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion: These findings reveal that intestinal microflora promote metabolic conversion of ginsenoside Rb1 and ginseng extract to ginsenoside Rd and promote its absorption into the blood in rats. Its conversion may be induced by prebiotic diets such as NUTRIOSE.
Background: We investigated the tolerability and pharmacokinetic properties of various ginsenosides, including Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, and compound K, after single or multiple administrations of red ginseng extract in human beings. Methods: Red ginseng extract (dried ginseng > 60%) was administered once and repeatedly for 15 days to 15 healthy Korean people. After single and repeated administration of red ginsengextract, blood sample collection, measurement of blood pressure and body temperature, and routine laboratory test were conducted over 48-h test periods. Results: Repeated administration of high-dose red ginseng for 15 days was well tolerated and did not produce significant changes in body temperature or blood pressure. The plasma concentrations of Rb1, Rb2, and Rc were stable and showed similar area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) values after 15 days of repeated administration. Their AUC values after repeated administration of red ginseng extract for 15 days accumulated 4.5- to 6.7-fold compared with single-dose AUC. However, the plasma concentrations of Rd and compound K showed large interindividual variations but correlated well between AUC of Rd and compound K. Compound K did not accumulate after 15 days of repeated administration of red ginseng extract. Conclusion: A good correlation between the AUC values of Rd and compound K might be the result of intestinal biotransformation of Rb1, Rb2, and Rc to Rd and subsequently to compound K, rather than the intestinal permeability of these ginsenosides. A strategy to increase biotransformation or reduce metabolic intersubject variability may increase the plasma concentrations of Rd and compound K.

To develop and evaluate the real-time SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) motion measurement system, true antenna phase center(APC) positions during SAT(Synthetic Aperture Time) are needed. In this paper, CDGPS(Carrier phase Differential Global Positioning System) post processing method is proposed to get the true APC position for spotlight SAR image formation. The CDGPS position is smoothed to remove high frequency noise which exists inherently in the carrier phase measurement. This paper shows smoothed CDGPS data is enough to provide the true APC for high-quality SAR image formation through motion measurement result, phase error estimation and IRF(Impulse Response Function) analysis.

The aim of the present study was to compare two different serum-free media, modified synthetic oviduct fluid (mSOF) and modified potassium simplex optimization medium (mKSOM) containing 20% RD (RPMI1640 + DMEM, 1:1 v/v) (RD-mKSOM), for in vitro culture (IVC) of bovine embryos. After in vitro maturation and fertilization, the presumptive zygotes were cultured in two different serum-free conditions for 7 days and 9 days to evaluate blastocyst formation and hatching, respectively. Serum supplemented conventional CR2 medium was used as control. After 7 day of culture, there was no significant difference in cleavage and blastocyst formation rates among three groups (mSOF, 59.3 and 30.1%; RD-mKSOM, 65.0 and 41.5%; control, 51.6 and 38.0%, respectively). Hatching rate was significantly higher in control (69.0%) than other experimental groups (mSOF, 22.0%; RD-mKSOM, 39.5%) (P<0.0001 and P<0.001, respectively). Although both serum-free conditions showed lower hatching rates than serum-added control, in serum-free groups, RD-mKSOM showed significantly higher hatching rate than mSOF (P<0.001). In addition, one-step using RD-mKSOM may facilitate IVC procedure than two-step culture system. In conclusion, the results indicate that one-step RD-mKSOM is more suitable defined culture system for IVC of bovine embryos than two-step mSOF.
Background: Ginsenoside Rd is a natural compound with promising neuroprotective effects. However, the underlying mechanisms are still not well-understood. In this study, we explored whether ginsenoside Rd exerts protective effects on cerebral endothelial cells after oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) treatment and its potential docking proteins related to the underlying regulations. Method: Commercially available primary human brain microvessel endothelial cells (HBMECs) were used for in vitro OGD/R studies. Cell viability, pyroptosis-associated protein expression and tight junction protein degradation were evaluated. Molecular docking proteins were predicted. Subsequent surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology was utilized for validation. Flow cytometry was performed to quantify caspase-1 positive and PI positive (caspase-1+/PI+) pyroptotic cells. Results: Ginsenoside Rd treatment attenuated OGD/R-induced damage of blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity in vitro. It suppressed NLRP3 inflammasome activation (increased expression of NLRP3, cleaved caspase-1, IL-1β and GSDMD-N terminal (NT)) and subsequent cellular pyroptosis (caspase-1+/PI + cells). Ginsenoside Rd interacted with SLC5A1 with a high affinity and reduced OGD/R-induced sodium influx and potassium efflux in HBMECs. Inhibiting SLC5A1 using phlorizin suppressed OGD/R-activated NLRP3 inflammasome and pyroptosis in HBMECs. Conclusion: Ginsenoside Rd protects HBMECs from OGD/R-induced injury partially via binding to SLC5A1, reducing OGD/R-induced sodium influx and potassium efflux, thereby alleviating NLRP3 inflammasome activation and pyroptosis.
