The purpose of this research is to present a practical method for efficiently monitoring a reliability growth process using AMSAA(Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity) reliability growth model. The presented method is viable for identifying failure modes, incorporating design changes and monitoring reliability progress on an on-going basis during the early stages of a product development program. According to the Application Guide for EN 50126(RAM part for Rolling Stock), reliability growth monitoring is essential part of the main tasks of design phase in RAM growth monitoring. Implementation of reliability growth management program will provide very useful information on concept selection, product/process reliability, and cost effectiveness without too much time, money and engineering effort being spent on the development of failure suspect parts.
Ram pressure stripping by intracluster medium (ICM) can play a crucial role in galaxy evolution in the high-density environment as seen by many examples of cluster galaxies. Although much progress has been made by direct numerical simulations of galaxies (or a galaxy) as a whole in a cluster environment, the interstellar medium (ISM) in galactic disks is not well resolved to understand responses of the ISM in details. In order to overcome this, we utilize the TIGRESS simulation suite that focuses on a local region of galactic disks and resolves key physical processes in the ISM with uniformly high resolution. In this talk, we present the results from the solar neighborhood TIGRESS model facing the ICM winds with a range of ram pressures. When ram pressure is weaker than and comparable to the ISM weight, the ICM winds simply reshape the ISM to the one-sided disk, but star formation rates remain unchanged. Although there exist low-density channels in the multiphase ISM that allow the ICM winds to penetrate through, the ISM turbulence quickly closes the channels and prevents efficient stripping. When ram pressure is stronger than the ISM weight, a significant amount of the ISM can be stripped away rapidly, and star formation is quickly quenched. While the low-density gas is stripped rapidly, star formation still occurs in the extraplanar dense ISM (1-2kpc away from the stellar disk). Finally, we quantify the momentum transfer from the ICM to the ISM using the mass-and momentum-weighted velocity distribution functions of each gas phase.
Recently, the R&D of weapon systems has been strengthened in terms of economic cost management throughout the entire life cycle from performance. This study proposes the method for setting the optimal maintenance concept based on RAM-C in weapon system acquisition stage by calculating the operation & maintenance cost as well as reliability, availability, and maintainability. First, we design a simulation model for analysis of weapon system logistic supportability. In addition, information such as weapon system Part Breakdown Structure, operation & maintenance system, cost, and etc for simulation analysis, is applied. Based on the obtained simulation results, the optimal plan is selected among alternatives designed with various maintenance concepts through normalization and weight setting. It is expected to be of technical help in the application of RAM-C in the weapon system acquisition stage.
Steady and unsteady numerical simulations are conducted for the experiments performed to investigate the ram accelerator flow field by using the expansion tube facility in Stanford University. Navier-Stokes equations for chemically reacting flows are analyzed by fully implicit and time accurate numerical methods with Jachimowski's detailed chemistry model for hydrogen-air combustion involving 9 species and 19 reaction steps. Although the steady state assumption shows a good agreement with the experimental schlieren and OH PLIF images for the case of $2H_2$+$O_2$+$17N_2$, it fails in reproducing the combustion region behind the shock intersection point shown in the case of $2H_2$+$O_2$+$12N_2$, mixture. Therefore, an unsteady numerical simulation is conducted for this case and the result shows all the detailed flow stabilization process. The experimental result is revealed to be an instantaneous result during the flow stabilization process. The combustion behind the shock intersection point is the result of a normal detonation formed by the intersection of strong oblique shocks that exist at early stage of the stabilization process. At final stage, the combustion region behind the shock intersection point disappears and the steady state result is retained. The time required for stabilization of the reacting flow in the model ram accelerator is found to be very long in comparison with the experimental test time.
In this paper, numerical study has been done for the improvement of the superdetonative ram accelerator performance and for the design optimization of the system. The objective function to optimize the premixture composition is the ram tube length required to accelerate projectile from initial velocity $V_o$ to target velocity $V_e$. The premixture is composed of $H_2,\;O_2,\;N_2$ and the mole numbers of these species are selected at design variables. RSM(Response Surface Methodology) which is widely used for the complex optimization problems is selected as the optimization technique. In particular, to improve the non-linearity of the response and to consider the accuracy and efficiency of the solution, design space stretching technique has been applied. Separate sub-optimization routine is introduced to determine the stretching position and clustering parameters which construct the optimum regression model. Two step optimization technique has been applied to obtain the optimal system. With the application of stretching technique, we can perform system optimization with a small number of experimental points, and construct precise regression model for highly non-linear domain. The error to compared with analysis result is only $0.01\%$ and it is demonstrated that present method can be applied more practical design optimization problems with many design variables.

In combined forward-backward extrusion with controlled forward speed by a counter punch, accurate parts with forward rod can be formed. As an extension of this method, reverse extrusion is proposed, in which the extruded forward rod is pushed back while the main punch is kept at the final position after the forward-backward extrusion process. The experiment is carried out using lead as a model material. With the reverse extrusion method, longer forward rods can be formed without under-filling defect than that by combined extrusion with controlling extrusion speed.
The weapon system is getting more and more expensive, complex and smarter. Therefore, efficiently and effectively, it is important to operate the weapon system. OMS/MP is a document to quantify operational factors like as environment, mission, mode etc. It is important data to perform RAM analysis in early weapon development phase and operate better a weapon system. This paper present a process and framework of OMS/MP for a naval ship with a deep analysis of relevant domestic and abroad case studies. It propose OMS/MP analysis framework based on wartime scenario and mission area analysis. This result will contribute not only improvement for the availability of a naval ship but also enhancement of RAM analysis process.
The resistive memory switching characteristics of resistive random access memory (ReRAM) using the amorphous GeSe thin film have been demonstrated at Al/Ti/GeSe/$n^+$ poly Si structure. This ReRAM indicated bipolar resistive memory switching characteristics. The generation and the recombination of chalcogen cations and anions were suitable to explain the bipolar switching operation. Space charge limited current (SCLC) model and Poole-Frenkel emission is applied to explain the formation of conductive filament in the amorphous GeSe thin film. The results showed characteristics of stable switching and excellent reliability. Through the annealing condition of $400^{\circ}C$, the possibility of low temperature process was established. Very low operation current level (set current: ~ ${\mu}A$, reset current: ~ nA) was showed the possibility of low power consumption. Particularly, $n^+$ poly Si based GeSe ReRAM could be applied directly to thin film transistor (TFT).
