The aim of this study is to investigate the ductile fracture behavior under mixed mode (I/II) loading using SA533B pressure vessel steel. Anti-symmetric 4-point (AS4P) bending tests were performed to obtain the J-R curves under two different mixed mode (I/II) loadings. In addition, finite element analysis using Rousselier Ductile Damage Theory was carried out to predict the J-R curves under mixed mode (I/II) loadings. In conclusions, the J-R curves under. Mixed Mode (I/II) loading were located between those of Mode I and Mode II loading. When the mixity of mixed mode (I/II) loading was high, the J-R curve of mixed mode (I/II) loading approached that of pure mode I loading after some amount of crack propagation. In contrast with the above fact, if the mixity was low, the J-R curve took after that of pure mode II loading. Finally, it was found that the predicted J-R curves made a good agreement with the test data through the tuning procedures of $\beta$ values at the different mixed mode (I/II) loading.
An electrical balance of plant(EBOP) of a 600kW molten carbonate fuelcell (MCFC) has to transit from grid-connected(GC) mode to grid-independent(GI) mode when a grid is in a fault conditions. A minimum transition time is limited by four cycle for a 600kW MCFC to ride through a grid fault. In this paper, we propose a control algorithm of a 600kW EBOP for a MCFC system. The EBOP has three operation modes, i.e., GC mode, GI mode, and grid-synchronized(GS) mode. The EBOP controls output currents in a GC mode and regulates output voltages in GI or GS mode. GS mode is defined as an interface between GC mode and GI mode to make a mode transition smooth, i.e., limitation of inrush currents, regulation of output voltages within ANSI standard. Simulations and experiments carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.
The mode (reflective and transmissive) switchable LCD has been developed by using a treated SR (Selective Reflector) polarizer. We believe that our approach will be a solution to overcome weak points for a reflective and transflective mode in a dark environment and a transmissive mode in a bright environment. Therefore, this can minimize power consumption, and also be easily fabricated in a current manufacturing process, ready for large sizes.

In conclusions, the J-R curves under Mixed Mode (I/II) loading were located between those of Mode I and Mode II loadings. When the mixture ratio of mixed mode (I/II) loading was high, the J-R currie of mixed mode (I/II) loading approached that of pure mode I loading after some amount of crack propagation. In contrast with the above fact, if the mixture ratio was low, the J-R curve looked after that of pure mode II loading. The fractographic evidences such as the shape of dimples under different loading conditions supported these conclusions.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of nursing simulations between multi-mode simulation and $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation on nursing students' nursing competency, satisfaction, and simulation participation experience in nursing care for patients with dyspnea. Method: Subjects were 107 junior nursing students in R College of Nursing in Seoul from June to November in 2009. Students were allocated to either a Multi-mode simulation group or a $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group. The multi-mode simulation consisted of standardized patients combined with Vital Sim, comparing the $SimMan^{(R)}$ group. Result: The Multi-mode simulation group reported higher levels of nursing competency (p=.017) but lower communication skills (p<.001) compared to the $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group. There were no meaningful differences in satisfaction of simulation education between the two groups. The $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation group received a substantial health assessment and the Multi-mode simulation group experienced reality in caring for standardized patients. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that Multi-mode simulation has similar educational effects like $SimMan^{(R)}$ simulation and suggest that nurse educators should match simulation fidelity with educational goals for effective education.

The new IFF mode, Mode-5 replacing Mode-4, has already been established by the US DoD for its allies and NATO forces. A IFF retrofit program for replacing the Mark XII Mode-4 with Mark XIIA Mode-5 is in progress in order to overcome the security limitations of the former in R.O.K. IFF certification test for the new mode, Mode-5, has been performed on medium range surface to air missile platform of the Korean armed forces for the first time in R.O.K and this is regarded as a monumental event in Korean defense industry. The present paper is a discussion on the procedures applied to the IFF system retrofit and integration, lessons learned from AIMS test with the US AIMS PO as observer. The minimum modification from the existing Mark XII Mode-4 to Mark XIIA Mode-5 and evolutional adaption from previous design including interoperability are required for the system retrofit. Letter of Certification was received from the US AIMS PO after the tests. The authors propose that the lessons learned and know-how acquired during the tests are managed by the R.O.K Government as the standard structure of a database. It is expected that the use of the database will reduce the developmental difficulties and risk, also increase efficiency in future developments and other projects.
In ocean field, the spread of the Fourth Industrial Revolution based on information and communication technology requires high precision and stable PNT&D (Position, Navigation, Timing and Data). As the IMO (International Maritime Organization) and IALA (The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities) are requiring backup systems due to mitigate vulnerabilities and the increase of dependency on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Korea is conducting a research & development of R-Mode. An DGPS (Differentiate Global Positioning System) reference station that uses MF, an existing maritime infrastructure, and AIS (Automatic Identification System) base stations that use 34 integrity station and VHF will be utilized in this study to avoid redundant investment. Because there are radio shadow areas that display low signal levels in the west sea, the establishment of new R-Mode reference and integrity station will be intended to resolve problems regrading the radio shadow area. Because the frequency has a characteristic in that radio wave transmits well along the ground (water surface) in low frequency band, simulation and measurement were conducted therefore this paper to propose candidate sites for R-Mode reference and integrity station resulted through p wave's propagation characteristics analysis. Using this paper, R-Mode reference and integrity station can be established at appropriate locations to resolve radio shadow areas in other regions.
R-Mode is terrestrial based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) backup radio navigation technology which used existing maritime information service infrastructure. It has advantages on reduce the cost and reutilize the frequency resource. In this paper, we propose a method to develop a medium-frequency (MF) band R-Mode transmitting station by utilizing the currently operating Differential GNSS (DGNSS) reference station infrastructure. To this end, the considerations for co-operating the DGNSS reference station and the MF R-Mode transmitting station are analyzed. In this process, we also analyze what is necessary to configure the communication system as a navigation system for range measurement. Based on the analysis result, MF R-Mode transmitting station system is designed and architecture is proposed. The developed system is installed in the field, and the performance evaluation results is presented.
